He is now almost four years clean and now adishting to working out instead of drugs. But his story is similar to thousands of others. He started using prescription pain killers like percocet casually and then became dependant and finding more pills was easy. It was easy, just had to ask around and go into a certain neighborhood. And then when he couldnt afford pain killers he opted for something cheaper, heroin and he was hooked. Mayor kenney says in order to prevent this doctors that are overprescribes will be held accountability. That is a major effort on my part. The task force will aim to educate the public that prescription drugs are addictive and can be deadly and aims to increase Treatment Centers and boost the availability of narcan a medication used to reverse an overdose. Andrew feels fortunate he was able to overcome his addiction. It starts with one day at a time and committing to yourself and your own recovering and doing the next right there and your life will get better.
