Its running weather. Definitely. Weve got a dose of a spring fever on the way. All this week, though, weve got pretty wild swings and temperatures. Wednesday 53. Yesterday, blustering cold, 39. Todays high, 45 de degree. Thats one degree above normal. And tomorrow should be 19 degrees warmer than today. If you look at temperatures across the nation, can you see theres warmer air out to the west. Theres warmer air down to the south. And this will be invading our region tomorrow. Tonight, though, on this friday night, if youre out on the town, you definitely still want to be wearing the winter coat. This weekend, both days should make it up into the 60s with a good amount of sunshine. The warmest weekend since the beginning of november. Were looking at temperatures running about 20 degrees above average. Forget february. This is normal for mid to late april. Ill let you know how long the warmth sticks around. And also track our next chance of rain coming up in the full accuweather forecast. Monica . Thank you, cecily. Sounds great. Today marks a national day of action. Tens of thousands of folks across the country skipped school and work to attend rallies and marches. And that included in philadelphia. Already demonstrations are gathering in multiple spots including city hall and in west philadelphia. Action News Reporter john rawlins is live with more on the demonstrations still going on at this hour. Good evening, john. Reporter monica, the protests behind me at msb began at about 4 00. About five minutes ago, a group broke off from that protest and have now gone into the middle of the lanes here between city hall and msb and are blocking traffic. Now, what youre seeing is that group is theyre starting to form up in the lanes. Thats where theyre moving. This are clear indications they about going to stop trafficment. The question is how long will police allow this to last . If we pan more to the right, we can see there is a considerable contingent of Philadelphia Police officers on bicycles here. This is really just evolving right now. It started with about 10, 15 people who entered the lanes and blocked traffic. That was about five minutes before we began here. And now that number has increased. Youre looking at scores of people in there. And at this point, the police are letting it play out. Well see how long that will go. But as you said, there have been a number of protests scheduled for today, and that actually did happen today. In fact, two groups are supposed to be forming up now in the art museum area. But lets take a look at what happened earlier. This protest called the black resistance march is part of a loose coalition holding demonstrations in multiple cities today. The coalition, strike for democracy, says the collective protests today are against what it calls the victimizing the people by the trump administration. But megan, an organizer of the black resistance march, says there is more. Our goal is to bring awareness that we shouldnt be just protesting about trump but we should be prosing about all the issues that predates jumps election. Were here to discuss, of course, the stop and frisk. Reporter earlier today, several hundred gathered united in their dislike of the president s policies. My friends are being deported right now. I mean, its really serious. Reporter one speaker said if the left wants to successfully challenge the gop agenda, it must employ the tactics of the tea party. We can look to the tea partys success. They gave us a blueprint of how to leverage our political popularity against congress. We have the numbers. We need to make them work for us. Reporter organizers see demonstrations as the beginning of a sea that will grow to more significant protests and strikes down the road. That the president and his supporters cannot ignore. We hope that people will use today to plan for march 8th. Use march 8th to plan for may day. Use may day to plan for the next major event. And so we think this is going to take time to build the kind of force necessary. Reporter okay. Back live light now. The black resistance protest continues. As we say, it changed about five to six minutes ago from being on the sidewalk here in front of msb. All the protesters now have moved out into the lanes between msb and city hall that has stopped traffic. Police are reda have rerouted some traffic around the area but it does seem to have snarled other vehicles. You can see a large school bus back there with a number of kids on it right now. Theyre hanging out the window watching this, looking at it. And at this point, still police are allowing this protest to occupy the lanes here. So if youre driving in center city right now, you might be forewarned to stay away from this portion of the roundabout around city hall. It is locked and at this point not showing any change in the situation. The police are standing by. Theyre observing and monitoring the situation. But at this point, the protesters do have the lanes. So thats the situation right now. Live in center city. John rawlins, channel 6 action news. Back to you. Thank you, john.
