Stuff in lancaster county. I am getting a hint of some thunderstorms in central pa. This might also try and push through later in there morning. The wide view on satellite shows you a fair amount of cloud cover over the northern half of the region, southern half less so and kind of a mix in philadelphia with those showers on the way. Temperatures right now arent bad. 66 degrees in philadelphia. 62 in wilmington. Up in the Lehigh Valley 66 and 67 in trenton. And as we roll through the day it wont be as warm as yesterday but it will still be not bad temperaturewise. By noon were up to 75. By 3 oclock 75. Coming down from a high of 76 around 2 00 and by 6 oclock 70 degrees. Again a spotty shower or perhaps a brief thunderstorm here or there particularly in the morning. Very light volume and traffic really moving fine so the weather conditions arent creating any big problem there. We have downed wires in middletown township closing elwyn road closed between New Middletown road and Baltimore Pike. Stick to rose tree road as your alternate. Newcombing in a report of an accident on the northeast extension southbound past lansdale. Thats exit 31. An accident off to the side. You can see it in the shot here with police on the scene. This is east falls abbottsford avenue near fox street just off of the boulevard northbound watch for that one. Not affecting traffic too much out there. On the vine street expressway the overnight construction there has cleared so some better news right there. And also lets take a look here at i95. Weve got a problem right by penns landing. You see penndot on the scene with this disabled vehicle. Its off to the left shoulder. I95 southbound as you head towards the walt whitman bridge youre going to run into that one tam. Thank you karen. The search is on this morning for man who kidnapped and sexualing assaulted a woman at gun point. Philadelphia Police Released a sketch of the suspect. Action News ReporterKatherine Scott is live outside of special victims unit. Shes got the latest details. Good morning katherine. Reporter good morning, tam. Thanks katherine. A Freight Train managed to stop just short of hitting a septa bus that had been stuck on the tracks. The csx train had been blocking across overtraffic on columbus boulevard in south philadelphia last night. The bus driver and two pus passengers were tweeted at the hospital. Theyre expecting to be okay. Septa is investigating that drivers actions. The six Democratic Candidates for philadelphia mayor took part in their final broadcast debate right here on 6abc before that may 19th primary. They mostly talked about education and the relationship between police and the community. Erin ohearn is live at the big board with a debate break down. Erin. Reporter good morning matt. The hot topic was the leadership in the Philadelphia Police department and practices used by officers which is also at the for front of the National Discussion as welly all six candidates said they would put an end to the departments stop and frisk policy. As for the candidates thought on the current leadership of the ppd by commissioner charles ramsey. Commissioner ramsey is out of here. Number two, we would hire somebody from within. I like him. I would keep him the question is would he stay. If he stays or if he goes the new commissioner in my administration will be within the police department. Person who uses the stop and frisk the most the current commissioner would be changed. Reporter the other big issue, schools. A viewer by the name of laura submitted a question asking how each candidate if elected would solve the School Funding crisis. Kenny and abraham said the real responsibility is on harrisburg but both touched on raising funds through taxes while Anthony Williams said he would not raise taxes insisting the answer is managing citys assets more efficiently. Nelson diaz claimed School Funding is a matter of shifting who gets taxed. Meanwhile doug oliver raised concerns over the debate over public and Charter Schools. We tax the wrong people in the wrong places. We should be taxing the whicher shall real estate taxes, we should be reducing our wage taxes. I think the conversation about Charter Schools versus district schools is the wrong argument. I think it needlessly divides us. I think a better conversation is high performing schools versus under performing schools. Reporter we profiled each of the candidates and you can find those videos on 6abc. Com and as matt said the primary Mayoral Election is tuesday may 19th. Tam, back to you. Okay, thank you erin. Ill be moderating a Mayoral Candidates Forum tonight in philadelphias mount airy neighborhood. It will take place at the Lutheran Theological Seminary on germantown avenue tonight at 7 00 p. M. Were about to find out where philadelphia ranks in terms of presenting apples sander driving experience. First up maribel aber has bad news for an american automaker live at the nasdaq in times square. Hi maribel. Hi matt. There is a new investigation of some jeep and dodge suvs already recalled and fixed. The wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and ignite. Regulators say there are reports of eight fires in vehicles that had been recalled and repaired by fiat chrysler. Almost 900,000 of the suvs were recalled last year. Quick on stocks. Stocks tumbled tuesday as investors grew nervous before fridays unemployment report. Right now though futures point to a higher open and philadelphia is the seventh worst city for drivers in the u. S. This is according to a sued dee from nerd wallet. Drivers are 61 percent more like to get into an accident in the city than elsewhere. More than 100 days of rain or snow and higher insurance costs also contributed to the lousy driving conditions in philly. But matt and tam thank goodness for david and karen who have got you covered for weather and traffic. Yes they do. Thanks maribel. Boston was number one. New york city was number 10 am i thought that was surprising. On our shift chance of accidents go way down because nobody on the road when we come in. Storm tracker six live double scan no real active rain out there right now. You might see a little bit of a sprinkle creeping into the western edge of Chester County and areas where it isnt raining of course up in the poconos theres more extended shower activity. Might have damp roads because of some overnight precipitation thats now well off the cost but thats the next stuff coming and right now it doesnt look like all that much. As we take a look outside we have a fair amount of cloud cover over Philadelphia International airport. Notice that the camera is not really bouncing around much because the winds are in the low Single Digits this morning. 66 degrees in philadelphia. 62 in wilmington. Even up in the generally cooler Lehigh Valley were at 66 degrees. 63 in reading. 67 in trenton and low 60s down the shore. So pretty comfortable conditions out there despite some of the areas seeing a fair amount of cloud cover early. Future tracker six does show some clearing to the south more clouds to the north as we move through the early part of the rush hour. Toward the end of the rush hour between about eight and 9 oclock theres a chance of showers coming through. Might even hear a rumble of thunder occasionally as this drops past. Then we get into midday and looks like were back to clouds some sunny breaks and maybe a real isolated shower and thats pretty much the story the rest of the way. Going up to 6 oclock a mix of clouds and sun maybe a couple of little spotty showers. So the morning would probably be the best chance of seeing something. This afternoon not so much. Up in allentown 69 degrees is your high today some sun aspotty shower cannot be ruled out. And as we take a look at the shore pretty much the same story. Clouds some sun 67 degrees is the high in Atlantic City and we cant rule out a spotty shower or even a rumble of thunder through the day. And in philadelphia well go for a high of 76 degrees today. A mix of clouds and sun a spotty shower cant be ruled out. But dry most of the time. Winds northeast seven to 14 miles per hour. Not all that strong. Rolling through the day, 66 by 8 oclock. 74 by 11 oclock and the afternoon is going to be fairly mild, just not as toasty as it was the last couple of days when we got up into the mid 80s. Today the mid 70s and that 76degree high is probably fairly early in the afternoon. Tomorrow High Pressure sits off the coast. That encourages more of a southwesterly flow. That will bump us up to 81 for a high with that milder southwest wind, partly sunny skies. And were also keeping our eyes on an area of low pressure that will likely develop over next couple days and potentially begin to form what could be the susans first tropical system off the coast of georgia and south carolina. This looks like it will move away from us maybe throwing in clouds toward the end of the weekend. If it does get a name it will be ana just 1n. Your exclusive accuweather 7day clouds some sun today 76 degrees aspotty shower at times. And then warmer tomorrow back up to 81 and for the aberdeen dad vail regatta great weather. Friday and saturday 85degree highs both days with a fair amount of sunshine. Second half of the weekend looks even warmer with a high of 87. Thats mothers day so weve got the bouquet of flowers and there is a possibility of a popup shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon sunday but most of the day looks okay. A little bumpy monday, tuesday with some more showers around. Okay, well be ready. Thanks, david. 6 11 now and we are following a developing story. New video is just in from a serious crash involving a Police Cruiser on the new jersey turnpike. A sweet treat turns sour when a bus rider picks a fight over ice cream. Karen. Taking a live look there over penns landing over at the ben franklin bridge and delaware. Beautiful start to your wednesday, 6 15, 67 degrees. Not moving very fast here. No. Were jammed here on i95 as were looking live here i95 at cottman no big accidents causing the problem but you can see that southbound jam from academy to cottman and from the betsy ross bridge to girard. A 26 minute ride southbound on i95. We do have an accident coming in to us in trevose bucks county. Browns mill road closed. Stick to old lincoln highway as your alternate. Another accident on welsh road at north wales road. So a couple of accidents coming in and a report of an accident here northeast extension, thats southbound past lansdale. Earlier we had some construction on the northeast extension and that has since cleared but an accident reported out there on the northeast extension causing a problem as well. With just a touch of fog in the area. In the city itself 8mile visibility. But 1. 3mile visibility in wilmington so thats one spot where youre catching a little bit it. Saw some earlier in millville but not looking too bad. But. 3 in lancaster. Its out to the west. We have a couple sprinkles or showers out there north and west as were looking live on Storm Tracker six live double scan we can see its not causing a big problem out there. Were watching for the chance of a shower pushing through right now like youre seeing not that far off from Coatesville Matt and tam. Thank you karen. Developing this morning in north jersey two pedestrians were hit and killed on the new jersey turnpike in a crash that involved a Police Vehicle.
