Jaworski crazy is a part of the Search Committee to help find this new head coach in Doug Pederson talks to us today. Crazy turn of events. Who knew ron jaworski was doing more than just analyzing the eagles season and nfl playoffs games. Jaws was a part of the eagles hiring process that led to Doug Pederson becoming the next eagles coach. Jaworski was in the room during some of the coaching candidate interviews and jaws was also among the select few who had this extensive binder containing detailed information on all of the eagles potential coaches. The espn analyst and former eagles quarterback tells action news today the decision to hire chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson was hard because there were so many choices from tom coughlin to adam gase. There were really good candidates. I kept hearing all along when no one wants an eagles job. Are you kidding me . This position was one of the most coveted head coaching positions in there National Football league. I sat on those interviews. I know how bad these gentlemen that were interviewed wanted the eagles coaching job. So, you cant get to everyone. You try to get to as many as you can but at the end of the day the eagles got it right. Jaws who was on the Search Committee wouldnt say whether or not pederson was their number one choice but whether the chiefs offensive coordinator was or was not, dick vermeil says that doesnt matter. Our jaime apody caught up with the former eagles coach today. He says he wasnt the eagles first choice in 1976. But their third and look he took them to the super bowl. Vermeil says pedersons background working under andy reid will serve him well. Id like the see him come here and everybody rally around him. Stop looking for the negatives. Stop saying geez we didnt get the guy we really wanted. The guy you really wanted may not be good enough anyway. You always have to start. I started somewhere. Don shula started somewhere. They all get their first opportunity and but i think this guy comes pretty well prepared. Espn sal pa paolantonio says hell get a five year deal. Former giants coach tom coughlin was in play to get the job until the very end. I am told that coughlin wanted too much control and too much money and a long term deal and thats when things broke down with tom coughlin and they focused on getting Doug Pederson. Do you look at this like pederson was their last option . Pederson was one of their last options but i think hes a good option. Lets hope so. While pederson cant be officially hired and introduced until the chiefs are eliminated from the playoffs, former eagles coach chip kelly is settling in to his new job.
