Starting out tranquil this morning, 59 degrees in philadelphia alittle bit cool. 49 degrees in allentown, 52 reading, 52 out the door in trenton, 53 in millville and 64 in cape may. As we roll through the day, good morning for a workout. Its not raining yet. Were going to get some early sunshine. 58 degrees by 7 oclock. So, cool and refreshing. And then by 10 oclock 67 but you can see how the clouds gather as we go through the day. By noon well be at 72. By 3 oclock your high of 75 degrees. Then we zip all the way back down to the upper 60s by 6 oclock and at some point late in the day or perhaps early evening youll start to see some sprinkles and later tonight some steadier rain particularly in parts of the region. An accident is blocking all lanes in Galloway Township Atlantic County right on the white horse pike at jimmy leads road. This accident also brought down a pole so you have downed pole downed wires causing a problem. Cant use the white horse pike in this part of Galloway Township. Stick to tilton road as your alternate. Construction on i95 northbound at the betsy ross bridge so watch for the two lanes being blocked. Two right lanes being blocked. Penndot with the arrow board. A little slowing on i95 northbound in this area. And a problem here in norristown. This is dekalb street at spruce street. We have an Early Morning accident causing some restrictions here and the right lane is blocked on the pennsylvania turnpike. Now, this one just construction but look at the speeds. 29 miles an hour. This is eastbound between downingtown and valley hill road youve got that construction going on. Moon while a live look at i95. Not looking bad approaching cottman. He was the last of israels Founding Fathers dying at the age of 93 after suffering a stroke two weeks ago. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live for us along the ben franklin parkway with more on the towering political leader. Good morning. Reporter good morning, tam. Shimon peres was one of israels most popular public figures. Spent his final years dedicated to promoting peace. He died at the age of 93 after major complications due to a stroke. Shimon peres was israels longest serving politician. Over the decades serving five different political factions. He was one of the Founding Fathers of the state of israel and served our people before we even had a country of our own. Reporter our very own jim gardner sat down with peres when he was in philadelphia in 1996 awarded the Liberty Medal by then mayor ed rendell for the 1994 accord with jordan. Joshua runyan interviewed him more than a decade ago on a visit to philadelphia. A consummate diplomat. An intellectual, somebody who was in the trenches when it came to developing government policy and in negotiating with other states. Reporter peres was born in poland in 1923. He emigrated to what was then british mandated palestine. He grew up on a kibbutz. He first entered Israeli Parliament in 1959 is over the years peres worked to build israels new defense forces. Hes the architect of the controversial Nuclear Program of the 1960s. He served two brief spouts as Prime Minister in the 1992 peres started talks with the plo and yass star arafat. Nobel peace prizes followed n2007, he was elected the country hes ninth president. He retired in 2014 as the worlds oldest head of state. His loss is going to be felt for a long time. Thank you katherine. One person died in this nasty crash along the roosevelt boulevard on the Oxford Circle section. Chopper6 was over the scene near pratt street. Police say the driver lost control and hit a tree at 10 30 last night. Two people in the car were taken to the hospital where one of them died. In Hamilton Township Mercer County take a look at that, a vehicle crashed into the front porch of a home. It ended up in the dining room. It happened just before 11 oclock last night on the 100 block of edinburgh road. One person was hurt. Hamilton police are investigating. Reports of a man with a gun prompted a number of stores to lock their doors at the Willow Grove Park mall. Abington Police Received multiple calls last night saying a man had a gun in a store on the first level of the mall. Police found who they believe was the subject of the calls. He did not have a gun but was actually holding a cell phone behind his back. It is important for people to be vigilant in this day and age and we do that appreciate them when they see something that they consider suspicious that they do call us. All of the stores reopened in about a half hour. An Atlantic County some other caused with aggravated manslaughter. Originally investigators believed lisa scalia rolled on top of the child while she was high. Now they say she gave the baby methadone. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convictd. Bail is 100,000 cash. In delaware 51yearold Angela Bingham is charged with murder in the death of her threeyearold grandson. State Police Responded to a home on skinner lane after bingham called 911 saying shed killed the boy. State troopers found the childs decomposing body in a bedroom. Bingham has been charged with first degree murder is that being held without bail. Happening today a former loyalist of governor christie returns to the stand in the bridgegate trial. David wildstein testified yesterday that the new jersey governor was directly told about the manufactured gridlock as it happened. Wildstein has already pleaded guilty to taking part in the scheme. The former Port Authority executive said christie knew about the 2013 traffic jam and seemed happy about it but in trenton yesterday christie firmly denied that. I had no knowledge prior to or during these lane realignments. Ii had no role in authorizing it. I had no knowledge of it. And theres been no evidence ever put forward that i did. Christie has not been charged but could be subpoenaed to testify. Former christie staff Bridget Kelly and Port Authority and official bill baroni are the defendants accused of orchestrating the lane closures. We are following the developing story. A man steps out of his philadelphia home and is met with a barrage of bullets. He tries to crawl back into the house but did not survive. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live at Police Headquarters with the full story. Annie. Reporter matt, thats right, a man gunned down right in front of his home. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Take a look at this video. This is video from the soon. This happened around midnight in the 6,000 block of van dyk street in the wissinoming section of the city. Now, police say that the 32yearold victim walked out front of his home to smoke a cigarette. That end 10 shots rang out. He was hit and tried to crawl back inside to his home. Police arrived and rushed him to temple hospital. He was suffering from multiple gun shot wounds to the chest, the abdomen and both of the legs. Now, based on ballistic evidence we know that at least 10 shots were fired from a large caliber semi automatic weapon. We found 10 spent shell casings, most of them were on the sidewalk in front of the house where the victim collapsed. One of the spent shell casings was actually on the front porch. Reporter and police do believe that the victim was the intended target. Theyre still talking to people that were in his home at the time of the shooting. During the afternoon theres the chance of a slight sprinkle here or there that probably wont really amount to much more than a little nuisance. Starting out dry this morning with some sunshine and then we see that sun fading as we go through the day. By noon 72, by 3 oclock, 75, thats your high today and by 5 oclock, 72 degrees and perhaps some sprinkles and some showers coming in a little bit after that. High temperatures across the region under that increasing clouds profile 74 in allentown, 75 in reading. Were looking at 75 in trenton, 76 in wilmington, 74 today in millville and down the shore low 70s from cape may up to Atlantic City. Then tomorrow morning when were on the air the rain will stable off and on throughout region and we could have pockets of that steady stuff. Again we go through the day all the way up to 3 oclock and its off and on rain all the way with the steadier stuff still pinwheeling out to our west. Thats when the best forcing is going to be. As we get up to 10 oclock its still damp. Through the region most of our heavy stuff off to the west maybe a little steadier cell coming from the south and friday it wont be as rainy but we still have the chance of showers all because of a sort of long range upper level low southern pattern that were looking at between now through friday where youre going have infection off the ocean thats going to inject moisture into the atmosphere and there will be a disturbance that takes that moisture and turns it into rainfall. Looks like we probably only get a half inch northeast of philadelphia. South and west luke i showed you on future tracker could get a lot more maybe 3inches of rain. El cajon police say the mans sister called them yesterday saying he was not acting like himself and walking in traffic. They say the man was not armed but pulled an object from his pocket and pointed it in a shooting stance toward two officers. That prompted one of the officers to open fire. The man died several hours later at the hospital. The shooting spurred protests at the scene for several hours. A suspected drug lab may be behind a deadly explosion in the bronx. It killed a high ranking new york firefighter yesterday morning. Debris flung by the blast struck bat italian chief michael fahey. He was the father of three described as a rising star in the department. 20 people were hurt including nine other firefighters and six police officers. Police are questioning a person of interest to determine to if propane tanks that were being used for a marijuana growing operation had exploded,. First ponders came together to help a woman who had a medical emergency behind wheel. Police say 27yearold ebony ivory was unconscious after a minor crash and the doors of her car were locked. They broke a window to get her out. A Flight Attendant was among those who administered cpr until firefighters arrived. Ivory he had a pulse and was breathing again when she was rushed to the hospital. It was a collective thing because you cannot do these things on your own. The womans family says she suffered cardiac arrest and remains hospitalized. Her family is extremely grateful for everyones quick response. Its 4 47. A water main break happening affecting traffic right now even though it occurred at 6 15 yesterday evening and chopper six was overhead them got to reduce traffic in this area blocking the intersection of lincoln drive and green street. You can see that debris all over the roadway, the dirt, the water main break still creating a problem. Two other adults were taken to christiana hospital in serious condition forehead injuries. Yesterday penndot and septa announced an Improvement Plan to help ease the congestion between king of prussia and philadelphia. As part of the 125 million plan, new electronic signage would allow officials to adjust the speed limit based on traffic and weather.
