For now live in west caln township, chad pradelli channel6 action news. Thank you chad. Were following a developing story. Five wildfires are burning in south jersey. Onrawlins is in pemberton township today with more on what crews are doing to battle those flames. John more on how this started in the first place. Reporter thats right, well these wildfires were report the over a period of several hours this morning. There were several miles apart and they have been deemed suspicious. Weather conditions have been a concern here as well. 25 Miles Per Hour wind gust and 17 percent relative humidity make it easy for the flames to spread. The five separate fires began burning before the sun came up and given the dry conditions, spread rapidly. Both aircraft and ground crews battled the blazes that burned more than 80 acres by mid day. More than 40 people worked the fire line. To slow the spread ground crews lit back fires smaller controlled fires iran tended to burn out flammable under brush, the i dont do deprive the larger main fires of fuel. One blaze got as close as about a half mile from some homes. Residents were alerted but there were no evacuations. As for the cause of the fires police are investigating. These are man caused fires and its suspicious at this point. Local and county Law Enforcement are working together with the state state park police are also involved. Reporter well, the Investigation Continues at this hour. No arrests have been made. Theyre still fighting the fires at this point in advertisement its still going on. The smaller fires the smaller of the five fires here are 100 percent contained the three larger fires are between 70 and 80 percent contained. Weve got that strong breeze that will continue through the evening hours. Were calling it may heat. Its very typical of july out here right now. 85 so far in philadelphia today. That is 15 degrees above normal and the warmest day we have seen so far this year and in fact we have to go back seven months from now when we had the temperature which was on september 28th where it equalled temperatures this warm. Wind speeds out of the south right now 18 miles an hour in philadelphia 12 miles an hour in allentown 17 in trenton so the winds they are moving along and at the shore 15 miles an hour so because of that breeze, because of the very bone dry humidity, the forest bed is very dry and acts as fuel if any fire was to ignite and this red flag warning remains in effect for the entire Delaware Valley with the exception of the state of delaware.
