In other news an awe all out search under way for a boater reported missing in Little Egg Harbor. Chopper6 was overhead as coast guard crews hit the water looking for a clam fisherman. New Jersey State Police say and the Tuckerton Fire Department are helping as well. Officials say the boater called family members about 8 oclock last night to say his boat ran aground but that he didnt need any help. No one has heard from him since and his boat was found on hither island earlier today. Action news will have a live report on the search efforts coming up at 4 30. A four hour manhunt for a handcuffed suspect finally came to an end this morning. Police say a man broke free during an investigation in the somerdale section of the city. Action News Reporter bob brooks explains what led to the suspects arrest in the first place. Reporter after a morning spent on the run from the Philadelphia Police, man who kicked his way out of a cop car was caught. Chopper6 captured the moment officers took him into northeast detectives. The suspect caused quite the chaotic morning. Hes accused of crashing three cars including his own on roosevelt boulevard. Detectives say it all started when a call came in for an erratic driver. Before officers were able to get the suspect to stop at the intersection of somerdale avenue and the boulevard, he ran into one Police Vehicle and slammed into this white suv. But after he was arrested, he managed to kick his way out of a police cruiser, busting open the door. Investigators say he ran down the boulevard still handcuffed and temporarily got away. The scene created a temporary traffic closure causing a huge delay for the morning work commute. In the 900 block of godfrey avenue they caught the suspect. The takedown was quick. We spoke with some neighbors who say they didnt hear anything but arenting. Nothing surprises me anymore now a days. Severing severything is so craz. Reporter one woman says Something Like this just hits too close to home. Its just, you know, scary. You know, you have your doors locked everything locked afraid to go outside. You dont go out once the sun goes down. Reporter and you see there in the video just how bad those crashes were. The good news is no reports of any serious injuries. Department of justice says the Philadelphia Police department continues to make progress toward completing recommended changes. Including the creation of an officerinvolved shooting investigation unit. It was created earlier this movement however, it is not being handled by an outside agency which was one of the dozens of recommendations by the u. S. Department of justice into the Philadelphia Police department. The department is now implementing a majority of the 91 recommendations spelled out in the federal report that was initially released in 2015. I think in many ways that the Philadelphia Police department will now be a model for the rest of the country. As we transition and people wonder what their future looks like i would say the future is very strong if they follow the lead of the Philadelphia Police department. Former Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey ordered the investigation of the department back in 2013. It was in response to an increase in officer involved shootings. A Church Leader at the center of philadelphias clergy Sexual Abuse Scandal was back in court today. Monsignor william lynn is facing retrial but is asking the judge to dismiss the case. Action News Reporter john rawlins spent the day in court and joins us live with the details. John. Reporter hi, rick. Well, the defense couldnt tension is that the d. A. s Office Withheld certain information from the defense during the first trial information that it argues could have changed the outcome of the guilty verdict back in 2012 and it says the remedy should be the dismissal of the current child endangerment case against the 66yearold priest. Monsignor william lynn back in court today in a legal effort to scuttle his scheduled retrial. His legal team called retired detective joseph walsh who testified that during the investigation leading to lynns first trial, he uncovered a number of inconsistencies concerning a key prosecution witness. Walsh said he relayed the contradictory findings to an assistant District Attorney who said you are killing my case. Walsh says he was just trying get to the truth. The monsignors attorney argues that verbal exchange should have been reported to the defense at the first trial. That it was not berg strom argues is misconduct and the retrial should be stopped. The d. A. s office argues comments containing the inconsistencies had been given to the defense team before lynns first tale trial and the motion to stop the retrial of the monsignor should be denied by the court. No decision today. The attorneys from both sides will submit briefs on the matter. The judge expected to rule on this on march first. Live in center city, john rawlins channel6 action news. Rick. All right, john, thank you. Today the new Jersey Medical examiner change the the manner of death for a former hospital ceo. John and Joyce Sheridan were found dead inside their home back in september 2014 and investigators called it a murder sue side. The medical examiner has now ruled John Sheridans death undetermined. Four of their sons accused the prosecutor to stabbing to conclusions. They believe someone else killed them both. He was the president and ceo of Cooper Health systems. Well, the search continues this afternoon for the masked man who robbed a man and a woman on the Schuylkill River trail. Police say a man wearing a red ski mask and armed with a weapon robbed the pair just before 1 00 this morning on the trail near walnut street in center city. The suspect was able to get away with cash and a cell phone. The two runners were not physically injured. We have a brand new consumer alert for insurance customers in delaware. State officials are investigating a data breach involving two of high mark Blue Cross Blue Shield subcontractors. They say the information of 19,000 people is at risk. The breaches involve Summit Reinsurance Services and bcs financial corporation. Ransom wear targeted a server containing names Social Security numbers, medical records and insurance information. Starting here on the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike where theres this horrible southbound accident involving this tractortrailer and the work van there. You can see deb bream on the roadway as well. Medical chopper just left the scene of this crash that happened in the southbound lanes between quakertown and lansdale but they had to have all northbound traffic stopped for awhile as well because the medical chopper landed on the northbound side. But check out the parking lot here on the southbound side of 476 the northeast extension coming down from quakertown. These poor people have been stuck here for more than an hour now not getting by whatsoever. It is a parking lot as you approach the quakertown interchange and try and head down toward lansdale again youre not getting through whatsoever. Lets hit the maps talk alternates. You can see the backlog going into that closure point because they have blocked off all traffic there at quakertown so those people we just saw theyre stuck but people that are coming southbound from the Lehigh Valley are being forced off. You want to come down 309. Thats the much better bet deal with the traffic light there is. Its not going to be a quick ride but better than being completely parked on the southbound side of 476. Now northbound you can get by but expect delays coming north of lansdale. Big delays on the southbound roosevelt boulevard extension route one because of a crash right here at the bottom of the screen involving this school bus right by the off ramp to the schuylkill expressway. Boulevard southbound jammed from ninth street down because of the accident northbound. Just starting to back up with normal afternoon volume. Otherwise on the schuylkill and 95 normal afternoon delays. Had a broken down vehicle here on 95 in bucks county that just cleared. And on 295 here at the white horse pike northbound theres a crash in the right lane. So, jammed in jersey as well. Lot going on. Well check it again rick and sharrie, coming up in the next half hour. The house voted 227 to 198 to start the process to repeal the Affordable Care act. They approved a budget resolution mostly along party lines. A young woman who was abducted in florida when she was a newborn has been found alive and the woman who raised her is now accused of snatching her from a hospital 18 years ago. Reporter kidnapped from a jacksonville hospital just hours after birth and now 18 years later a young woman is learning Police Believe she is that dark haired baby investigators have been searching for her entire life. She had an inclination she may have been involved and in in some way. She is she has a lot to process as you can imagine. I cant even begin to comprehend it. Reporter police say a tip led them to the young woman in South Carolina with the same birth date as cam maya mobley. The woman agreed to dna test. The woman she grew up believing was her mother 51yearold Gloria Williams now arrested facing charges including kidnapping. Still not explaining to investigators why she allegedly dressed as a nurse that summer day in 1998, took the newborn from her mother and walked out of the hospital. Philadelphia mayor jim kenney is continuing his pledge to visit one Neighborhood School every week in an over to the connect with children in the city. Especially children with disabilities. The mayor was the guest reader at the hms school for children with Cerebral Palsy in southwest philadelphia. Its the first school of its kind in the nation offering specialized training and high tech teaching tools for the youngsters. Today though everyone was excited to see the mayor who read some of this favorite stories and then afterwards even took questions from the kids. A nonprofit in trenton celebrated a major milestone today. Action news at the trenton area soup kitchen also known as task. Mayor eric jackson was there too to thank the volunteers and the Board Members for their hard work and dedicatio dedication. Task served its first people back in 1982 inside the First United Methodist Church of trenton. Its now housed in a building on esther streets street which serves more than 290,000 meals a year. Theres the clouds marching in from the south and west and you can see there is a dividing line. You get a little bit of snow on the Northern Edge of saint louis near cincinnati, then you get some of the blues as well as the purples. That is the sleet and freezing rain and rain in kentucky.
