If you noticed issues with patco service you are not alone, trains are overcrowded and skipping stations and even canceling stops during the morning and evening rush. Action News Reporter john rawlins got to the bottom of this and joins us from the station in collingswood with the detail. Reporter well, both patcos president and general manager today apologized for a series of break downs yesterday. Not all but most of the the case his to do with the motors that drive the trains. This truck came with two detective motors and they have both been changed. Patco technicians and mechanics working around the clock. It was exacerbated by the extreme weather conditions. Patco president john hanson says that trouble began when the storm blanketed the region with light flurry snow on january 7th followed by up and down temperatures. And since then multiple stoppages culminating with long lines for commuters. Made for a bad day for our riders. And i am very sorry for that. Most of the stoppage is due to electrical short able due to motors that drive the trains, back to the light flurry snow, underneath the cars it can be sucked into the air cooled motors. The air flee is through the filter box. That snow turns to water and that is bad. You get the water inside of the motor and it starts barking. And smoking and it shuts down. And patco had to replace 24 motors many times normal. We are lucky if we do three. This time you did 24 . Yes, 24. We have a list of other motors to get to. There are other potentially 25 motors behind these. This is still having an impact, an eastbound rush our train from 16th and locust this afternoon the 510 will not run. They dont have the equipment to staff it basically so the 506 and 514 will run and pick up the slack.
