Reading and we take a live look on sky6 from pagoda in reading you see kind of what looks like a haze, that is that snow squall moving through. You can still see the snow on the rooftops there where they did pick up close to four or so inches around the reading area. The evening concerns are these snow squalls. Theyre sudden bursts of snow that drop visibility to almost zero so it is going to wreak some havoc in spots during the evening rush hour. They bring a quick coating to a half inch and then once the sun sets, everything is going to freeze up fast here tonight with those temperatures plummeting. Brian, when i come back well talk about one of the coldest weekends of winter season setting up for saturday and sunday. All right, adam, thank you. Lets switch live to Jeanette Reyes live in allentown one of the areas dealing with those squalls right now. You make it look good but youre thrilled to be there, i know, jeanette. Reporter im just so excited i can barely hold it in. Brian, some of these people really did enjoy this weather. Others not so much and really saul the danger of it all. These conditions, this is exactly what some drivers were dealing with with an accident that caused seven cars to smash into each other. Sunshine was just about the only thing in common between yesterday and todays weather. We were just outside yesterday with the dog playing without our coats on. Reporter we caught up with heather who was playing in the snow with her two daughters the. Little gee a yanna and felt this weather hit a new phrase she learned in school and was able to show off. In like a lion and out like a lamb. Reporter the wet snow brought out these two neighbors shoveling at least one point. [laughter] its a nuisance. Its a nuisance. In march, yeah. To me its great. Look how beautiful. Trees are white. Im ready for springtime. Reporter but for dozens of drivers along the northeast extension on the turnpike in lehigh county, it was much more than a nuisance. It was all fast. It was all quick. It was a mess. Reporter just before 10 30 this morning, there were two separate accidents. This one involving seven cars and tractortrailers. I said he cant stop. He doesnt have enough time. So, brace yourself. Reporter drivers tell action news the weather was to blame. All of this snow started coming down really heavy. The people slowed down but it was very white conditions so it was hard for anybody to really see. Reporter two drivers walked away with minor injuries and most with a word of caution. Just use your head. Just use your head. Just be smart. Reporter and coming back out live to us i want to show you these conditions because were just about 7500 yards away from the road and this is the visibility. These are the conditions again that people were dealing with and i think because yesterdays weather was so good people probably got a little too confident on the roads today so please be careful in these conditions because it certainly can cause Something Like what we saw earlier this morning. The woman accused of killing and dismembering her adopted daughter pleaded not guilty today during a Court Hearing in bucks county. We also learned prosecutors are keeping the Death Penalty on the table for sara packer. Action News Reporter vernon odom live now outside of the courthouse there in doylestown with the very latest. Vern. Reporter good afternoon sharrie. The hearing itself lasted about a half hour. The atmosphere very tense based on the heinous nature of this crime. The defendants demeanor could be described as weak frail nd softspoken. Sara packer was bundled up when she was arrested in early january and charged with murder kidnapping abuse of a corpse and with a rape conspiracy. Today inside a bucks county courtroom, she wore an orange prison jump suit when she was formally arraigned on those charges and told that prosecutors may go for the Death Penalty if the 42yearold is convicted of the killing of her 14yearold adopted daughter grace packer last summer. Obviously the facts are terrible. But we are obligated to look at this with a legal perspective and in this case well felt that at least we had to give the defendant notice that we could potentially seek the ultimate penalty in this case. Reporter on march 31st packers boyfriend Jacob Sullivan will face a similar hearing. Together, they are accused of killing grace on july 9th then reporting the girl missing claiming she was a run away. In january, Court Records show sullivan confessed to raping and killing grace. He eventually dumped her body in woods in Luzerne County where it was found in late october. Packers lawyer entered a not guilty plea on her behalf today and started to reveal the defense strategy. Certainly the allegations in this case are very serious and horrific but i would point out at what weve said from the beginning we dont believe that there will ever be evidence that my client killed anybody. Reporter sara packer is now off suicide watch but she remains in isolation from the general population at the bucks county prison. I can only say that shes holding up as good as one could expect under these horrible circumstances. Reporter packers lawyer says tonight he may try to have this trial taken out of bucks county or he may try to have a out of town jury brought in. Still though you can see the heavy snow coming down at the moment here in delco.
