May or may not hit you up there in reading. If it does it wont last long wont be much. 79 degrees in philadelphia so still pretty warm. 74 in allentown, 78 in wilmington, 78 in cape may. When you check out those dewpoints man its still oppressively muggy out there. Even in allentown and reading and trenton we have dewpoints of 70. As you get down into south jersey and delaware its even worse with dewpoints in the 70s. Your exclusive call from accuweather shows a warm and muggy start with a temperature of 79 by 8 oclock. Now by noon were at 86 and drier air will be working its way gradually in from the north so that areas around philadelphia and the northern suburbs will start to feel less humid. Still going to be hot this afternoon with a high of 92 but feeling a little bit better. The exception is down the shore in south jersey and did wear where the humidity levels are going to remain very high today and if youre headed to the Atlantic City air show later this morning and this afternoon you definitely want to bring along some cool drinks or plan on buying some. We have some changes ahead in the accuweather 7day forecast humiditywise and heatwise im tea tail that in the seven day. Karen what you got there. Starting with the roosevelt boulevard. A multivehicle o on the odd one boulevard southbound. We saw fire crews and ambulances and now we can see still a number of Police Officers here. They are at least allowing right now two lanes of traffic to get by. At one point they were blocking all lanes. Looks to me like it was two different accidents like at least one accident up here and another accident in the backlog. We see at least three vehicles. Police on the scene. At one point all lanes were blocked. So, you can see the backup as i step out here. Were already backed up at this point from ridge avenue to approaching wissahickon avenue and you can see the boulevard southbound jammed up approaching the schuylkill where it looks like we had two different accident scenes and multivehicle accident there. Now, i talked to police in Montgomery County and they told me about this problem theyre responding to right now. Its a pole that caught on fire so an electrical fire situation. Theyre waiting for peco to come and help them out. In the meantime they have crews on the scene and they had to shut town bethlehem pike between highland avenue and wise avenue. They shut down wise also. So a number of areas blocked off because of this electrical fire happening right now and you can stick to 309 as your alternate for that one. They told me but a problem where a downed tree branch here on pine road at philmont avenue and weve got a new problem in cheltenham. Somebody woke up and realized a tree was on a car so problems from the storms and were learning more of them as people are waking up and stepping outside. This is fox croft road at caleb way. Matt and tam. Thank you karen. Breaking this morning, flames have ripped through a south philadelphia Apartment Building. It hit two alarms and injured a firefighter. Annie mccormick is live at the scene in the 1300 block of South Broad Street. Good morning, annie. Reporter good morning, tamala. That one firefighter was taken to the hospital. He did suffer smoke inhalation and is in stable condition. You can see behind me they are making a lot of progress wrapping up this scene right now. Theyve end up a portion of broad street but now still broad and wharton is closed down but one building along this street on the righthand side you can see just a shell of what is left behind of that home. We are told that that is where the fire broke out. They described this as a twohour fire fight. Take a look at this video. The second alarm fire broke out just before 1 10 in the 1300 block of South Broad Street. Now, when crews arrived they saw heavy fire showing from the second and third floors of the threestory row home. Now, neighbors reported they saw a tree sparking near wires in the rear of the property. Residents say a passerby saw the flames and his honking and screaming is what alerted neighbors. They say Mother Nature did not help crews. When i first looked up it was only like a little bit of fire and then we came outer and it just like it went up and then the roof was on fire and there was lightning. Like you could see the lightning streaking through. It wasnt raining yet. And then all of a sudden it just started downpouring. Reporter now, no cause yet. The fire marshal is on the scene. Now, in that home where the fire broke out its a threestory row home, fire commissioner at the time when we spoke to him wasnt able to tell us how many tenants are in that home but he said at least one person he knows was inside. They did not have to be evacuated, though. So all the residents on this block are okay. About 75 firefighters responded about 20 apparatus. One reason for the heavy response is the no only because of the heavy fire but also because of the heat. Even they this is one of the coolest mornings that we have had all week, these firefighters, the men and women of the Philadelphia Fire Department have been fighting fires in this heat every day for the past two weeks and it is wearing on them. They say that that is definitely one factor but again, they got this under could he will in two hours and res he dents say they residents say they responded quickly. In south philadelphia Annie Mccormick channel6 action news. Back to you. A reminder of how hard they work. New this morning it was not a quiet night for fire crews in chester county. Around 11 00 they had to race out to a church on east uwchlan avenue in chester springs. The fire damaged a modular building on the property used as a classroom at the victory baptist church. No one was hurt and that Actual Church building was not damaged. Happening today Pennsylvania Attorney general Kathleen Kane will officially leave her job as a convicted criminal. City controller Alan Butkovitz says more than 400,000 in surplus funds from the philadelphia marathon may have been used inappropriately. The money earned while mayor Michael Nutter was in office was meant for projects to benefit the entire city. Instead butkovitz says some of the cash went to a 52,000 hotel stay, 80dollar shoes and a threehour open bar event. The financial watchdog also claims nutter and his staff didnt go through the proper channels particularly when a 45,000 trip to rome for nutter and staff was flagged. If it was to promote the city as a tourist attraction or as a center for the papal visit why not go through all that regular scrutiny. For some reason the mayor didnt want to have that scrutinized. So then they go through this procedure that has no receipts, no information. Nutter responded. The controller is a liar, a snake and a hypocrite. There is no truth in what he says. Every expenditure was proper and for an approved purchase. 6 07. If you want to grab a bottle of wine for dinner tonight youll be able to consider some other choices than the state store. Unfortunately the trop in humidity hasnt occurred yet so as you head out early most of you are still going to feel pretty sticky. 74 in allentown, 78 wilmington, 76 in trenton and 78 currently in cape may. Again on the humid side this morning. Satellite shows you those showers to the west but the main stuff showers and thunderstorms that came through last night are now gone. Up in the Lehigh Valley thats one of those areas where it is going to feel less and less humid as the morning and afternoon rolls on and its not as hot up north either. 87 degrees is your high, a mix of sun and clouds. Less humid as we go through the afternoon. And thats because dry air is coming in from the northwest during the afternoon and will push all the way down to about philadelphia. Unfortunately if youre down the shore today, its still going to be humid because that drier air will not reach the shore. So, look for a high of 89 in a. C. Today and most of our shore communities. Ocean temperature still running pretty warm and still very humid down the shore. That includes for the Atlantic City air show later this morning and in through the afternoon. Cool drinks for that one. Its going to be hot as you stand in the crowd on the beach. Still hot but turning less humid in philadelphia with a high of 92 this afternoon. Then later tonight future tracker6 shows you the chance of a passing shower or a thunderstorm. The latest model run has most of this holding off until pretty late at night and then sweeping through and pretty much being done by about three he clock in the morning. So overnight were going for a low of 74 with that passing shower, maybe a rumble of thunder. And again from philadelphia north not all that humid overnight tonight. Then tomorrow a warm front starts to creep back close to us. We might wind up with a high finally out of the 90s. I cant guarantee you this but im going to go for a high of 89. Maybe it ends the heat wave maybe not. Either way it is still going to be rather humid tomorrow and then Building Back with higher humidity heading into the weekend. Your seven day 92 and hot less humid from philadelphia north. Still sticky down south. 89 tomorrow partly sunny. Might not jump to 90. Either way moderately humid and possibility of a scattered thunderstorm. That and friday mostly sunny and hot probably a little sticky a high of 91. As we head into the weekend though thats when the humidity roars back. Sticky he on saturday the way things look now with a high of 90. Spotty thunderstorm in the afternoon. Now we can see that some of those emergency crews have left but still causing problems on the boulevard. This is southbound approaching the schuylkill. Looks like theyre just getting ready to tow one of those vehicles away right now as we speak but at least two lanes are opened on the boulevard. Ive got another view point of this where you can kind of see. This is the boulevard. Heres that accident scene.
