Go to the next half hour to 45 minutes. So, its going to be very busy afternoon for us here on wral, fox50, and mixed mix 101. 5. The ultimate goal is to keep you safe, keep you informed of heading. So what we will do is start from top to bottom, run through the warnings. Im going to turn the radar warnings, zoom into the northern counties, and take a look at whats going on with our new Tornado Warning. When we pop up the polygons real quick. It is about roxboro, up to the northwestern part of Granville County. Here inside, take a look at what may be of little couplets trying to form just to the west of roxboro. And, you can see a change in color. Not as pronounced as the couplet further south. What you see here, a huge difference in the way that couplet looks here over durham and also Orange County. You can see the greens butting up against the red, rates are the radar is moving up, range are moving toward the site. In essence, its an area of low pressure with a counterclockwise rotation and cloud being reported in Orange County, we have not had any details since that report, but, as soon as we find out any more information we will let you know. That is the most impressive oh, okay. The storm that is over Orange County and Durham County shows the most impressive line in the area so far. But again, we are watching the roxboro area, again, that couplet is trying to form just to the west of roxboro. Let me put a storm track on, moving northeast at about 45 Miles Per Hour. There we go, 45 Miles Per Hour. While you are doing that i want to let folks know that take camera 31, weve got the durham camera but there it is. And so, you can see the wall cloud and the shelf cloud with the renegade ready to move into we saw Something Like this very similar on april 16. Yes, we did. Moving into downtown raleigh. You can see that moving in and see flags as well on the dbap, this is located at the durham bulls athletic park, you can see that actually manipulating the camera here, since this is hours, trying to get a better view of it, you can see, this is going to be some very heavy rain, and likely a band of very strong winds moving into Downtown Durham within the next couple of minutes. So, if youre not in your safe place, you need to get in a shelter place at this point. Very heavy rain with this. At this point, we do not have a Tornado Warning out for Durham County. Yes, we do. Okay, so Tornado Warning out for Durham County. Once it is raindrops, dont know whats going to be in there but the radar suggested that we will have very strong wind with this, especially from along highway 15501 to the north. Folks on u. S. 70 and i85 in durham, if youre listening to us on mix 101. 5, find a place to pull over. To not pull over underneath the bridge or an overpass. Get off the interstate, and get into a safe shelter as opposed to parking under a bridge, clogging traffic in big problems there. Right now the greatest couplet or greatest rotation looks to be north and west of durham. So, at least in the short term, does not look like the greatest threat will be heading into the durham area. Although there is a suspect area southwest of durham where you can see green butting up against the red. The more impressive couplet looks like it does affect areas north and west of durham. It is moving to the northeast at 55 Miles Per Hour. That Tornado Warning continues until 4 15 for the areas across Durham County, getting up into Granville County. Again, as nate said, if youre in this area, find a safe place as quick as possible. Is that for Durham County as well . Indeed. There was one thing as i was looking out on the reflectivity pattern, if you follow this along or see this little hole moving along in this direction, more than likely, that is what we call a week echo region where the updraft is suspending the raindrops, the bigger ones up in the storm itself. So it actually shows up as a weak area. But any thunderstorm that is Strong Enough to produce a signature like that is one that is also capable of producing hail, damaging winds, and perhaps even tornadoes as that moves along northeast at about 60. Tornado warning. Okay, this is a new Tornado Warning that was just issued. This one now for southeastern person, vance county, granville, and northcentral durham. That would be because of the cells that we had been watching good in order to get your bearings, lets zoom out a little bit. And again, this cells that we northern Durham County, moving to the northeast at about 60 Miles Per Hour. The southeast part of Person County, much of Granville County and into vance county, certainly in line to be affected by the storm if indeed it holds together. It is somewhat of a steady state, and continues moving in that direction. Im going to zoom back in here and do a storm track, based on the latest velocity data. And, let me just click that little button there. And, the couplet, if you will, or the boundary appears to have shifted up here to not too far away from bahama. Im going to do a track edit, and start this storm track from that spot. Actually, what i have to do here, hold on just a second, is actually do the storm track first. Thats helpful. And then adjust it. So, there you go. And we do the track at it and put it up here near bahama, and you can see the communities by this, including bahama, rosemont, mariah, stem, and providence. Thats all over the next of course of the next 12 to 30 minutes as this continues to move north and east. Lets go on ahead and go out to the white he once again here. And, again, i want to keep you all updated. There are multiple Tornado Warnings in effect right now. And you can see these are what areas could one for southern moore, hope, extreme scotland, parts of lee and chatham counties, another, portions of orange and durham counties and also appear in person counties. An awful lot of warnings that are in progress at this particular point in time. Perhaps one of the better ways to sort of tell you what the most dangerous situation is at our shear rate products but if we put that in motion, you can see up in Person County, that has shifted to the north of roxboro right now and does not look as strong as it did. Down here in northern Durham County, a lot of cloud to ground lightning, holding for the ballgame, a fair amount of increase and the amount of shear in that location. That is moving to the northeast, moving into Granville County very shortly. And then lets pan down as we head on down this line. And we see some shear indicated in Chatham County. The Tornado Warning still in effect there. And then down further south, also some shear going on in south and Southern Pines in association with the cell affecting hope and southern moore coty all of these areas continue to be under Tornado Warnings at this particular point in time. I just got a report of 2 1 4 very large hail phone there. Lets take a look at the warnings. If youre just joining us there multiple Tornado Warnings. The pink polygons. Ella polygons are Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in effect. They extend from southern virginia, in fact if i get a broader view, you can see how far they extend, all the way up into northern virginia, expecting interstate 64 into South Carolina. This is a very large line and certainly encompasses North Carolina. The new Tornado Warning just issued for southeast Person County, vance, Granville County, northcentral durham afternoon. And that system is moving to the northeast at about 55 Miles Per Hour. So, let me zoom in and were going to do a storm track on this cell to give you an update on whats happening. And again, that is moving to the northeast at about 55 miles an hour. 55 Miles Per Hour. We will put it there. Storm track, 4 13. Shoofly community, the cozaar community, buttner at 4 15, talking about, belltown, also, getting up to henderson at 4 33, 410 crossroads, since you are under the Tornado Warning, you need to get in your safe spot. If you have a basement, that would be the safe spot to be. If you have a lower level, try to get on the lowest level of your complex. Go into an interior room. If you have room underneath the stairs, that is an optimum place if you dont have a basement, get into a small room, bathroom or closet. Sure you dont have any windows. That will assure some safer shelter than, say, being in a room that has windows but a lot of times when you have damaging wind gusts, it can bus the windows and you get hurt by flying glass. The other storm track we are watching, north of roxboro, moving to the northeast at 45 Miles Per Hour. So communities affected, longhurst, cowbell, mail, kristi. Areas i mentioned and point in between, arriving at 4 24, also the nelson community, southern virginia, 4 26, take shelter. Adding further to the south, more Tornado Warnings in effect. Let me pop up the polygons. Of course we are watching that Chatham County cell movie to the northeast at about 55 Miles Per Hour. So lets do a storm track on that and see where that will head. Over the next half hour. We are talking about pittsboro oslo 12, bynum at 4 14, farrington village, blackmail at 416, and at 4 18, moncure. Points in between, green level at 4 26, in wake county, Carpenter Community in wake county at 4 27. It is 4 12 now, you have plenty of time to get to your safe shelter. Think about what you want to do when that arrives, and Durham County. Inside the storm, there was a little bit of a conflict looking more oppressive impressive. Butting up against the reds as much as we did when greg showed it to you a minute ago. There is the update. Again, that read that you see here are raindrops moving away from the radar site over here in the clayton area. And the green are raindrops moving toward the site picketing a counterclockwise rotation. This is the area where we would see the greatest rotation and potential for a tornado. So, lets head farther south, continuing to see where the storm tracks. We will put up that pollock on here. This is the outline of the Tornado Warning for moore and hoke county until for quantity. This is moving to the northeast at 60 Miles Per Hour. Lets do a storm track on that. It does not look that organized at some of the others further to the north eared inverness, 4 14, mount pleasant, 4 18, one community at 4 21, barbecue and harnett county, 4 25, little bit inside. Not seeing an immediate, obvious rotation that we were seeing in storms further to the north but the Weather Service acing something that necessitates the Tornado Warning 4 30. Another 15 minutes from now. Let me go back out to the broadview. And, there we go. This storm is moving to the northeast. This wine itself is moving to the east at about 30 to 35 Miles Per Hour. So, we are likely going to see this in our neighborhood until counties. Another three hours until we in my memory banks going back to april 16, nate and i were here that day, there were numerous Tornado Warnings but this is far different because those warnings were actually ground truth and on the ground for a long pier go of time. This is not looking like an april 16 situation but there are numerous Tornado Warnings. Right now. Gerald and lynda. Chatham, durham, and Orange County until 5 00 p. M. This is located near pittsboro moving to the northeast at 35 Miles Per Hour. So we will take a look at that and let you know whats going on with that particular storm. The moving into the northeast, that will include basically eastern Chatham County for now, and then eventually folks and seven orange and southern durham will need to keep an eye on this potentially taking shelter as it moves to the northeast over the next half hour or 45 minutes. Its starting to become a mess on our map here. I will turn off the radar display. The new polygon is one over northern Chatham County, Orange County, getting up into Durham County including chapel hill, also durham itself, bethesda, unc, duke university, carrboro, farrington village, and northern Chatham County. That cell is moving to the northeast at 35 Miles Per Hour. Let me turn off the warnings and put the radar display back on. Northeast at 35 Miles Per Hour. So, one of the storm of existence that we are seeing, pittsboro, chapel hill, northeast of 35 Miles Per Hour. So, bynum, plantation anchors, dogwood acres, chatham, chapel hill under the gun once again, it was 25 minutes to half hour ago that that cell that is now over northern Durham County was chapel hill and carrboro. You guys are getting another round coming on by. Looks like you are going to experience some very heavy rainfall and plenty of let me turn that off. There are a few lightning strikes, south of pittsboro as well. Moving over the southeastern part of Person County and northern Durham County, that looks to be quite excessive. At the shear product, looking. Its quite broad to be perfectly honest with you, when we take a look at the velocity data here, you can see some areas where you have some modest proximity between the reds and greens, but nothing stands out. And so, that makes it a little bit more difficult to talk about exactly where the biggest threat is. Again, you have some adjacency, if you will, in the reds and the greens here, but, these velocities are not terribly impressive at this time. So, im going to go back and take a look at the conventional radar display here. And you know, one of the things that we can tell you with certainty is that where you see the purple and gray embedded in that, those are areas of hail potential. That is very close to pittsboro. The street here, going out of south, south out of pittsboro, thats highway 15. And so, thats coming right up 15 and getting very close to the city itself. Of pittsboro. Again, going back out to the bigger view here, you can see that there are a number of cells in this line that stretched all the way from Mecklenburg County, virginia democrats Granville County, into orange and Durham County, Chatham County, and western lee county continuing west into scotland county. This is a line with a number of cells and of varying intensity. The one that stands out the most right now is the one we have been following for quite some time that is crossing over into Granville County. As i speak. Now, understand here that the Weather Service has just canceled the Tornado Warning for granville and person, that was one that was in effect earlier, but, if we take a look at the velocity display here, concentrated look to this. And, this is just to the north and west of stem. If i do a storm track for that particular cell, and then adjust the location, there we go, and then what we do here is to a track at it and bring it back up to the actual point of the storm right now. And then we can add in some location so that we have the subdivisions, smaller communities there. You can see again, providence, clay, dickerson, oxford, potentially in line there to be affected. Any of those areas that you see on that list, you need to get to a safe spot immediately. And make sure that you are protected. The basement is optimal, but dont have that, because interior room on the lowest floor of your house. Back here, you can feel a bit of an update here as the storm to to move north and east. Getting closer and closer to providence now and if we can get an eye out. If we to oxford 9 miles. 9 miles southwest of oxfords rotation is. This is going to the same place immediately. If we take a look at the convention display, obviously there are very heavy rains. You noticed this little bit of an indentation right, that is this is capable of producing some damaging straightline wind, and again perhaps a tornado in the are
