And of course, we have gone to the main roads, those are in even better shape, but as we showed you last half hour, the black ice is what you really have to be careful of when you get on those primary roads because of all of that black ice. But again, we are traveling around chapel hill and are going to check out some other spots and let you know what it looks like in our next half hour. Even close to downtown there is a single plane that looks open and the other side of the road is still covered with ice. This is downtown durham. Of course durham had more sweet and snow than we had in the raleigh area and as you head of it. There is still plenty out there so certainly the schools are justified for closing. Thats why we dont have a delay, either. Its 28 degrees and we wont see temperatures climbing above freezing until 9 00 or 10 00, and then we have to warm things up to loosen the staff. We have a low the develop software the computer models are arguing about if its going to be close enough to bring us any precipitation or too far offshore. And what about this high . Is a close enough to find some cold air or too far away . There is no agreement on this the right now we are going with rain, temperature close to 32 thursday morning. High of 43. Isnt that prutty . Lets show you the full screen so you can see how pretty it looks from 1500 feet in the air, looking out for the sun this morning. Thats so nice and its a lot nicer than what we are seeing on roads in many spots. Not so bad on 440 and capital boulevard. Your interstate and u. S. Highways are nice and dry but be careful on the ramps. You can see on the right side of the screen it still looks like there a pah of ice, and a lot of those areas are shaded by the tree. Closer to the virginia line it may take longer. Brian is here taking a look at where the roads are worse. That tells a great story on sky 5. High above the northern Durham County in the bahama area, many of them are covered in snow and ice this morning. Here at 7 32 well take a live look. Those shaded areas, you can see all the trees blocking that roads yesterday and none much melting happened yesterday. What did mouth is frozen over again. Thankfully cars having to go out this morning are going so slowly. You can see a lot of tire tracks also, looks like maybe some people spun out on the side of the road there. This is why schools are closed this morning. If there is a kid back in the neighborhood that needs to catch the bus, it would be next to impossible for that bus to make its way down to the neighborhood. We are getting ready to turn back on Ebenezer Church road. This is a look at what most of triangle looks like. Again, be aware of where some of the areas have been shaded and did not get some sun. Those will most likely be iced over but we did see more drivers heading back out on the roads yesterday. A lot of that attraction helps break down some of the ice as well. This is Ebenezer Church road in raleigh but the neighborhood roads are the biggest issue. In tara lynn in live drive 5. I want to underscore that the wide angle lens that we use with our live drive 5 cameras make the vehicle look like its going faster than it is in reality. You can see the secondary roads in that part of raleigh were mostly dry the neighborhood streets are bad. To remind you, one of the priorities of d. O. T. For clearing roads after a storm, they hit the major roads and highways, then secondary roads and neighborhood streets. So you might see some of that today. Some d. O. T.
