Artwork. We had a blast mixing bright orange and french blue. It works beautifully together, and if you build a room around something you adore, you are guaranteed to love that space. One of our dilemmas was definitely to figure out how to add privacy to the room but not visually close it in, so the answer to that was to install these beautiful spheres to still have a little bit of light coming in, but you are not closing in the space. One of the biggest questions i get asked is if ive got patterned fabric in my room, is it ok to have a pattern on the rug . I love the carpeting, and what makes it work in this space is its a small, consistent pattern. Its also a large open area rug, which helps visually elongate the space and make it feel larger. Do not be afraid. Im giving you permission. You can mix a small pattern rug with a bold pattern fabric. And a large living room, what i love is what i call a connector cocktail table, meaning literally it connects multiple conversation areas in the same room so everyone can put a drink down. Its really going to work for the way they entertain in this space. Its so much fun to think about what this blank space look like this morning when we started. This console table is gorgeous, almost like a little piece of sculpture, and we have really added something with this big, beautiful piece of art. You can add depth and dimension to a small space design by mixing the materials you have used in the room. I have combined lacquer, wood, glass, and metal. It makes it more visually interesting and keeps it from feeling too messy. If you remember the old sofa and chair in here, they had these huge arms and taking up were taking up a lot of space, so ironically, this sofa is the exact same size, but you are not using all that space of the arms. Another important element was we had those very unbalanced windows. How do you balance windows . You really cannot, but the most important thing was to bring in some symmetry with these two table lamps. Its so much fun to incorporate family photos into a game room in your house. I actually went to michaels custom framing, and they helped me lay it out. What i love is although it is multiple pieces, it gives you the same impact that one large piece of artwork would. We started out in a space that was not really suited for entertaining. Now i think i have designed a room that screams, be my guest.
