Metros massive yearlong effort to repair the rail system kicks off at midnight. With it, expect a year of service delays across the region. The first phase will involve work on tracks between the boston metro station and the East Falls Church station in Northern Virginia. There will be continuous single tracking, reduced service on the orange and silver line with trains every 18 minutes on the impact west of boston. Today standing here at the East Falls Church station the metro general manager revealed that the cost for the work over the next year is going to be about 60 million. But he added theres an unknown cost that will be added to that because they dont know how much revenue theyre going to lose over the next year from riders who choose not to take metro. The message of the day for the next year will be patient and be prepared. The first phase begins with the orange and silver lines. Large portions of the lines will be single tracking and there will be some station closures. That means fewer trains carrying more people. Trains will run every 18 minutes with eight car we will provide additional orange line trains between boston and new carrollton. We will be providing additional metro bus, Fairfax County connecter, and the darp bus service. Shuttle between boston East Falls Church and boston west falls church. We learned today of a letter from 11 members of the Virginia House of delegates telling metro they dont plan on giving the Transit Agency one more penny. Right now, helicopter and boat crews are racing against time searching for four soldiers in ft. Hood, texas, missing since their truck overturned into a flooded creek during a Training Exercise yesterday. The tragic accident killed five other soldiers on that truck. This all started up by the Lincoln Memorial where he apparently crashed his car into a bus and then left the scene of the accident in the car, but then he crashed once again here on the cutts bridge, driving his car up into the sidewalk. The car was disabled. He allegedly tried to carjack several vehicles here along the bridge. Thats when those construction workers realized what was happening. They detained him until police arrived. Now hes facing some serious charges. When police did arrive on the scene, he continued to be combative. One of our officers did deploy a taser to subdue the subject. New details on the man accused in the most recent gun scare at the white house. According to court documents, when he was asked why he came to the white house, he told a secret Service Officer that he came there to, quote, shoot people. Today federal authorities officially charged 31yearold Jesse Olivieri with resisting officers with a dangerous weapon. An agent shot olivieri two weeks ago after he approached a white house checkpoint holding a gun. Investigators say it may have been an attempt at suicide by cop.
