We understand the gunmans computer was damaged. What are they thinking it might tell them about him or a motive here . Reporter anything that can explain the motive for this inexplicable attack. The computer was in the house where he lived with his mother. We are told from friends of nancy lanza that she was concerned, because adam lanza spend hours on end inside hi room on the computer, was virtually a recluse, had few friends, rarely left the house, and so investigators have been exceedingly puzzled trying to piece together what was going through his mind. They were hoping that the computer might yield some clues, but apparently he damaged the computer, actually removed the hard drive before the attack so lt. Vance, the spokesman for the Connecticut Police today said they have been able to acquire a lot of good evidence out of the room, but he wouldnt speak to what any of it was. He did tell us today we are months away from getting a report from the Connecticut State Police that will fully explain what led up. Were think any indications she had a growing concern about his behavior in the days leading up to this rampage . Reporter weve talked to multiple friends and family members, who said she was concerned about her son. She worried about him. She tried to get him out of the house, tried to help him find a job, help him go to school, something that could help him adjust in society she was protective of him, didnt talk about him much, but no indication, not at all, that he was prone to violence. In fact, one good friend of hers told us today that, um, he was a vegan, who said hess was morally opposed to killing animals so he could eat. You know, how you wrap that up and how you tie that together into what he did is very hard to understand. We do know, of course she was a gun enthusiast. She wood to take him shooting to local target ranges, but thats about as close to anything that could explain what happened on friday. Michael isikoff, thank you. News4s Richard Jordan arrived in newtown, connecticut as the story was still unfolding. He got back recently. They were talking about adam lanza. What were the people in town telling you that struck them about this kid. Whats strange is this is a really small town. Everyone knows everyone, white picket fences, a main Street Corner store, but a lot of people didnt remember him or knew who he was. Even kids who were in high school with him still didnt remember him. And then they had some recollection, that he was a loner, he didnt talked to many people. Even peeled said he just wouldnt respond. He carried around with him a laptop. Some people even said a briefcase, which was out of place there. So thats how hes remembered. Nothing ever that triggered anything that people ever thought he might snap like this, but certainly an introvert. But in a town this small, its like mayberry, everyone knows everybody, so its interesting they dont know him. How intense wangs a reporter landing into the middle of this. A town thats had the wind knocked off it really they were betrayed, they feel. This is someone in their community. Its still you understand it. Even if we talk about a mott i have been, an explanation, no motive, no explanation for them they will be able to rationalize this. This was deep and painful to everybody there. A lot of peeped moved there, because they felt it was a safe place for their kids. They might work in new york, and travel an hour, hour and a half to get to work, but they wanted a safe place for their kids. Tell me about the christmas tree. When we got out there friday, we hit the ground running, had to move along, but saturday we had some time to really reflaekt, and at that moment at the fire station, they sell christmas trees, so they had a bunch of them. Someone from North Carolina donated 26 took the big for 26 of the trees. They put them up and started decorating them with teddy bears. This would be heart at any time. Thats the first time my heart went up in my throat, just seeing that. It was just a meaningful tribute, and to see the 26 trees representing the 26 victims, it was really heartwarming. Good to have you back. Nice job. Thank you. Today Christmas Morning became a little more exciting for thousands of children in our area. Earlier today nbc4 joined in to help open the Angle Tree Program Distribution Center. By the bags full, parents picked up an estimated 40,000 of these bags and toys, sponsors made the donation through 15 toy drives to help struggling families living in the d. C. Area. We want to thank you for your donations and your generosity as well. Quite a picture out there. Somebody gets a bike for christmas, thats the best. This is that is just lovely is the zoo lights. Lets head back out there. Doug has a glimpse of that. Reporter wendy, lovely is the world i would use to describe it. Bring the kids, obviously the kids will absolutely love it. They get a lot of people here this time of year for zoo lights. The weather so far has been great as far as nice, mild temperatures. With me is the executive director, this is bob lamb. Reporter those are always going to be warm, too. Even if you get a cold night, you that i outside with the lights and then go inside. Absolutely. Theres a joy here every night as people come in and see the beautiful light displays, activities, music, everything thats going on here. Reporter it does help to get you into the holiday spirit. Lets look at the weather. The weather has been great so far. This goes on through new years day. So lets look and show you whats happening. You can see at the airport, a bit of fog and drizzle, but still 52 degrees here in the middle of december. Very warm for this time of year, the average high only 46. Take a look at the current numbers. 52 out towards leesburg. 48 down towards culpepper. The fog is still an issue. Dense fog advisories still in effect, and anne arundel county, quarter mile visibility. I would not be surprised to see that dense fog advisory expanded into the d. C. Metro area. Not a lot of rain out here. There are a bit in the way of mist and drizzle, but thats really it. You can see on the satellite and radar most of the rain is staying well to our west and will stay to our west at least through the night. Expect some hours overtight, but that will be about it. Well move on to the north and east. As it does, breezy but mild conditions, we are going to say very warm. Temperatures tomorrow could be 60 degrees. Wednesday looks like a agreed day and great night for zoo lights. The next couple nights, tonight 48 degrees, a few showers, you may want to bring the umbrella tuesday night not intoed at all. Wednesday night looking great thursday is the night we could see some rain. Cloudy and mild for the rest of the evening. Shower will return. Tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy, areas of fog once again. Mild, though, 43 to 47. Thats where our average high temperatures will be. Look where we will be tomorrow. 50 to the north and west. 60 down to the south. Could be a passing shower tomorrow, but not too worried about that. Wednesday well look at plenty of sunshine, 55 on thursday with rain coming in late in the afternoon. Then the cold air moves in friday, high temperatures only in the mid 40s, windchills in the 30s all day. That cold air look like it will stay here through the saturday and sunday time frame, so once again were looking at temperatures that will be on the mild side. It would be the wind that we seed in the next few days. The cold air moves in later. Back inside to you guys. Down in the fog down there. Reporter its pretty nice. Liz crenshaw shows us how to plan a Holiday Party without all the running around. School children return to class with a special visit from an nfl star. Coming up in sports, the redskins control their playoff destiny. Dan and chris cooley talking all things burgundy and gold in the cooley report. And tonight news4 at 6, a dramatic finish, nasas plan tonight to crash well, its monday, time for the cooley record. They dream and dan hellie joins us. At the cooley house, in the cooley cave. To look at that great game. Yeah, you know what . I think that chris cooley knew it all along. He knew exactly how things were going to go. Kurt cousins was going to go in there. Four drives, seven yards, interceptions s. Turned into a touchdown. Were you worried at all . I dont think i was worried, i dont think after the job that anything thought nose what he has done even in our Training Camp practices. When it really exploded, and he started completing pass after pass, i think that was a surprise, but a good surprise. You and i were talking about how well of a game plan Kyle Shanahan called. Completely about. It couldnt have down any better, could it . We ran the ball well, and we got into our keeper game. They didnt have much of a plan for an edge. They probably prepared for something different. Into the second or third quarter. When you give any quarterback time to said up, make the plays. Now it begs of question, how healthy is robert . Does he play against the Philadelphia Eagles . I know you dont know the answer to that right now, but based on what we saw pregame and some of his other workouts, he looked pretty good, almost like it was a precautionary but if youre a gambling man, what would you say . I think robert will compete to play. He wants to be on the field. Hes going to show everybody that he should be on the field. What he gives you and the type of package he gives us offensively, we want that guy on the field. Were proud of what kirk did, everyone is so excited for kirk, but the things this kid can do are unplefbl. They learned without rob griffin iii you have other weapons. Pierre, alfred has been spectacular all season long, but Leonard Hankerson with a previous touchdown in previous games. Two in this game. Ive always been skeptical of his hands, but what did he show you . I think last week was the best he had played so far this season, and he stepped up big. We have a lot of guys the best thing you can have is weapons on offense. No doubt about that. Comi
