They study things like traffic impact and fiscal imports. But we have confirmed that yes, one of the casino locations, the one proposed here in ft. Washington is going to have a tough fight with the Video Lottery commission. They are proposing an 800 million parks casino hotel and spa at the intersection of indiana head highway at old ft. Road and ft. Washington. This is the largest proposal of all of them. 4700 slot machines, nearly 200 table games and 450 hotel rooms. Plus, they promise 150 million for road improvements to indiana head highway. Sources close to this process told me the bed is out after review for independent consultants. Just moments ago i spoke with a park spokesperson that told my they disagree. Our Third Party Experts that are very similar and have worked with the consultant. The reports will comment and have a different viewpoint on some of the assumptions. And im assuming that some of the issues that they were discussing had to do with traffic. Some are about traffic. Many, though, are about location. Now tomorrow theres going to be a public hearing where all the work done by the consultants will be made public. Were told officers were called to 43rd avenue here in hyatte school to deal with a woman who had been behaving strangely. At some point police tell us the woman threatened officers with a knife. Police say the woman has a history of Mental Health problems. She is expected to survive. A woman is speaking out tonight after police shot and killed her grandson. This happened during a shootout along queens street in d. C. s trinidad neighborhood last night. Pat collins is live for us on the scene tonight. Reporter jim, a gunfight with Police Leaves a teenager dead and his family in mourning. Last night own queen street, she heard the shots. I heard six or seven, and they just went pow, pow, pow, pow, pow. Last night she looked out the window of the home and saw the body of her grandson lying on the pavement across the street. Aint nobody out there to help him at the time. He was just laying there. Reporter shot and killed, darius maur fi. He was 19 years old. He went down in a gunfight with police right near his grandmothers home on queen street. Miss murphy says her grandson darius was in and out of trouble with the law for some time. She said she tried to keep away but he kept going back, and down the street is where it all began last night. She says there were a group of men there. Police from the gun Recovery Unit came by. They tried to talk with murphy. There was a chase. The police tape goes from house to house to house. At one point Darius Murphy turns, fires a shot, and wounds a cop. Police return fire. And Darius Murphy is hit and falls dead on the street right in front of his grandmothers house. He was hanging out with a bad crowd. Down there, yes, sir. Did you try to talk to him about it . We talk to him every day. Every time we see him we talk to him. But you kept going back. Kept going back. And now hes gone. Reporter now police are continuing to investigate the incident. They want to know more about what happened here on queen street last night. Live in the northeast, pat collins, news 4. A violent day at several schools in the south. News 4s Scott Macfarlane at the live desk what with what we know now. About an hour ago a suspect was arrested for shooting a student there. The shooting happened at West Orange High School near orlando in florida. There was an argument at a soccer field where the buses were waiting to pick up students. Thats when police say the suspect opened fire. The student who was shot is in the hospital. And a short time later a student stabbed at another high school in georgia. No word on the con of the student. Tonight we are learning new details about the shooting rampage last year inside sandy hook elementary. The 911 tapes have just been released. Some of the calls came from inside the school as gunman adam lanza opened fire. Nbc news has decided not to air any of those calls. But we are reviewing those transcripts. And jay gray joins us live with what the calls tell us about what happened in there. Hey, as you can imagine, the tapes are chilling. The 911 dispatcher urging teachers to lock their doors, keep the students safe and instructing another faculty member to keep pressure on a gunshot wound. There are still, though, many who say these should have never been made public. It is a day the survivors and families of the victims at the sandy hook massacre have been dreading. The release of 911 calls for that day. A painful reminder of the horror and heart ache theyve endured for almost a full year now. A judge released the calls despite pleas from family and Community Leaders who were concerned about the additional trauma that could come from hearing the recordings. Nicoles son died in the attack. She talked with Andrea Mitchell earlier this week. We dont feel the 911 calls should have been released. It will affect our community certainly, and it will affect our families. Reporter nbc news will comply with the wishes of many of the family who is ask that the 911 audio not be aired. Two frantic teachers called for help. A custodian stayed on the phone. Multiple gunshots could be heard in the background during the call. The 911 operators remained focused, steady during the calls. At one point hoping a teacher made sure her classroom door was locked and urging her to keep the children safe and calm. Im much better at dealing with the facts. The father says he believes the calls should be heard. There will be less confusion and less people making up stories about what happened. Reporter the truth is painful enough for a Community Still struggling to heal. Now one thing everyone agrees on is the timing of the release is making it more difficult. Witnesses tell police the man walked into the bank and old georgetown road and cheshire drive. Right now police are looking at the Bank Security cameras to come up with a suspect description. Take a look at these guys in the surveillance photos. They held up a 7eleven just after midnight. Police say they threatened someone in the store with a gun, demanded cash and cigarettes. No one was seriously hurt. If you recognize either of them, give police a call. Fbi Officials Say the looming budget cuts will drastically hamper their ability to protect the country. They say the bureau was anticipating a budget cut of 700 million as a result of sequestration. And along with cuts to active investigations, agents would likely be furloughed for 10 to 15 days here. Gang leaders are not furloughed and its unacceptable thing to do. Because of the risks from both terrorist and criminal threats. The cuts will also result in a hiring freeze for all of the 2013. Talking with employees inside the mall tonight, they tell me it was frightful as they watched a buck tear through their stores. Not the usual 911 call for fairfax police. Im calling from the giant on Huntsman Square. We have a deer in the store. A buck got into this springfield shopping center. Inside employees from several stores told us what they saw. She was working with me back there. She said, hey, there was a deer. I was like, no, youre kidding me. Reporter she was working in subway. It was a huge deal. Reporter she said it got in through this back door and made its way to giant. I walked over to giant and saw it in the produce section. Reporter wrapping presents at this children shop, she watched them next. It was trapped because the doors are all clear. So it kept thinking it could get out. Reporter two more calls came into 911. This time with fear. Is it acting aggressively . Yeah, its going crazy. You guys got to get here. Its going to kill somebody. Luckily, someone news to cover its face with a sweater, so it didnt see, and then he was able to good it to the front of the mall until animal control came. These pictures snapped by others in the mall show the animal being walked outside. His face still covered. Animal control was on scene. This one has a combination of hormones and adrenaline. It got spooked spooked somehow. And this forced the dress barn to post in sign on its door. They close in three days. Now, if you have been to the mall, you know there are a lot of surveillance cameras inside. A debate over plans to widen sidewalks in northeast d. C. Have drivers a little upset tonight. The plan is to make wisconsin avenue more pedestrian friendly by narrowing the roads. Drivers say this stretch is already congested and narrowing the streets is only going to make things harder. But supporters of the change say they will make wisconsin avenue safer for drivers and pedestrians alike. Tysons Corner Center is the most valuable taxable property in the washington region. A Washington Business Journal reports the 80acre mall property is now valued at more than 1 billion. The propertys assessment went up 25 million in just over a year. Its likely to jump more when the silver line opens up. Speaking of big money, the megamillions jackpot is edging closer to 300 million tonight. The jack pot is expected to be about 291 million. Thats the largest its been all year. Powerball on the other hand had crossed the 300 million mark four time this is year. Megamillions still claims the biggest jackpot in u. S. Reporter jim, it was what the chief didnt have to say. The problems with the departments fleet have been well documented over the past year. Today the chief was unable to answer specific questions about the balannd fire trucks in the departments fleet. I will have to get back to you with an answer. That was the response the chief gave when asked why he didnt budget any money in 201 to buy new vehicles, despite the fact that he knew the chief was in disrepair. They promised an additional 17 ambulances by the end of the year after releasing 13. He testified the department currently has 100 ambulances, but not all of them are working. Of the
