Reporter we want to show you the very cold activity as workers from Fairfax County and local utilities work to repair that break. The break started about 10 30 this morning causing columbia pike to buckle here in the Baileys Crossroads video of what that looked like earlier to show you. It sent water gushing down the street damaging the road. Columbia pike remains shut down between blair street and tyler street. Now, when this was first reported a lot of the people in this area hundreds of people were told that it may be some time before they could have their Water Service restored and a lot of them headed to the local supermarkets to stock up. We talked to a woman about that. I got 20 gallons. Whats the thought process here . They could turn it off and maybe we cant flush and maybe theres a lot of people in our building and everyone is surprised. Oh by the way no water. Water problems also hit a nearby mall. The entire food court at Pentagon City mall is the closed off right now. Its unrelated to the water main break. The Arlington County Public Health department made the move because the mall had to shut off water as crews made repairs to the sewage system there. The mall is currently undergoing expansion.
