Jim, weve been expecting to possibly hear from Tony Robinsons parents. Instead it was that teens uncle who spoke out on the parents behalf. Robinsons mother andrea irwin, was there and her brother pointed out the fact that tonys mom is a white mother now coping with the death of her black son. He also stress ld he wants the protests which have drawn thousands of people to the streets of madison since saturday to remain peaceful. We are not proponents of antipolice. I encourage everybody to show support because this is a universal issue. Matt kenny is the white officer who shot robinson friday. Police say kenny fired after robinson assaulted him in an apartment and also after robinson reportedly had assaulted someone else. Madisons police chief has not accused the officer of any wrongdoing while offering his condolences to robinsons family saying everyone mourns the loss. The Wisconsin Department of justice is investigating. More Police Officers in our area are starting to wear body cameras. Montgomery county police are the latest of the local Police Forces to test them. This pilot study starts in a couple months. Details about how marylands wiretap law may need to be changed in order for this to happen. Dallas starsy . Reporter wendy, the chief says this Pilot Program is going to happen but moving forward there are a lot of questions. Like you said, the wiretap law, questions about privacy and who can get a hold of that video. This is video from a body camera being worn by a Laurel Police officer. The camera records the officers interactions with the public. Montgomery county plans to start a Pilot Program, but the chief says there needs to be an exemption to marylands wiretap law, which requires someones permission to be recorded. Its clear, you get their consent or you dont record. Reporter and there are privacy concerns. When can police use them . When should they be turned off . Should they be used when police go into someones home . And can these videos be released to the media or the public . The key is its in the policy and making sure that its always on that its always recording. Reporter Andre Barnhart says he walked away from a life of crime but now as a homeless man living in a Montgomery County shelter hes been brought up on various charges, all of them, he says, have been dismissed. Every officer has to be responsible for his actions even 100 more than that because theyre being filmed. Reporter police chief tom manger plans to start a Pilot Program in may or june equipping up to 100 ausmsers with cameras at a cost of nearly 100,000. A felony neglect case against a couple in virginia is going to be presented to a grand jury. Jasmine and Adam Alexander are accused of leaving their 9monthold child, a daughter unattended in her crib for 16 hours. Police say it happened last october. When the couple finally went to check on the child, the girl was dead. New testimony revealed today that an adultsized comforter was found in the crib with the child even though a medical examiner could not determine what caused the death, prosecutors argue that the baby was left in a dangerous situation for many much too long. There are new details tonight from police on the investigation into how a Fairfax County inmate died while in custody. Officers say they have interviewed more than 50 people about what happened to Natasha Mckenna last month. Sheriffs deputies restrained mckenna and then used a taser on her when she resisted officers. They were trying to transport her to another facility. She died five days later. For that to be said and chanted and memorized by someone, a group of people thats so predominant on campus really hurts.
