He had actually changed his name, originally Michael Joseph hall, then changed his name after he joined islam. 32 years old. Police believe that he acted alone here yesterday. He was shot and killed inside parliament. Shot in a hail of gunfire. Canadian police already aware of him. He had a criminal background. A lot of drug charges. Some robbery charges as well. He had been declared a highrisk traveler, his passport confiscated. A concern he would become a foreign fighter, a radical islamist. Its not clear whether or not he had any ties to isis. But as to the big question why, bibeaus mother spoke with the associated press. She said she had been estranged from her son for about five years. They recently reconnected. She said she did not know what was in his mind, but she is crying for the victims, not for her son. Canadian Prime MinisterStephen Harper went back to the site where the shooter killed a soldier. The corporal was guarding the nation war memorial when he was shot at point blank range. Bystanders tried frantically to revive him but failed. Cirillo was a member of the largest reserve unit and dreamed of becoming a full. Time soldier. He leaves behind a young son. Corporal cirillo was guarding the National War Memorial in ottawa when he was shot at point blank range. A tourist snapped this photo moments before the shooting. Cirillo died a short time after the attack, despite frantic efforts to revive him at the base of the tomb of the unknown. All middle School Students will start at 7 30 with a goal of one day moving them closer to beginning classes at 8 00 a. M. High schoolers will start at 8 00 or 8 10 and start times for most Elementary Students will not change. Supporters say theres medical evidence to back them up. Some studies show teens do better mentally, physically and academically with more sleep. Well, that gives them enough time to sleep obviously. Because most kids now a days do not get that time in the morning. So you see that in the grades. At first i thought it would be difficult for them to go longer. But i dont think so. I think theyd be happier being able to sleep in. Reporter but not everyone agrees that later is better. I just think people are more productive in the morning. Its just, i dont know, its just me though. They do need speed. That depends on what time they go to sleep at night. M. , the deputy responded to a Domestic Violence call. When the deputy arrived, there was some sort of confrontation with the male suspect. The officer shot the man. He was taken to the hospital where he has now died. The deputy was not hurt. He is now on administrative leave. Within the last hour, we found out when a trial will begin for the man accused of three highprofile murders in alexandr alexandria. A judge set a date for october 5th of next year. Charles severance was in court for todays hearing, along with his parents. Family members of victims were also in the courtroom. Severance is accused of murd murdering three people. The judge approved the defense to hire two private investigators for no more than 30,000. And right now, people are able to apply for new gun permits in d. C. The d. C. Council changed the gun law last month to allow concealed carry. Under the new law, people will only be allowed to carry a gun outside their homes if they can justify the need for a weapon. They will also have to undergo new safety training. Guns will still be banned in certain sensitive locations around the district. And new this morning, Montgomery County police are looking for two men who held up a shell gas station in ga gaithersburg. Police dont have a description of the suspects. Prince georges county schools today clarifying a text message sent to parents about possible violent at six flags this weekend. The message came from the principal at suitland high school. It mentioned gangs planning to retaliate for a large fight at six flags last month. Thats when a 15yearold was critically hurt. The School System now says the message came after unsubstantiated rumors. Released statement reading, while students are expected to follow expectations as outlined, we encourage students with parental supervision to adhere to these same expectations while in the community. Right now, a warning to consumers about a huge air bag recall that could take years to fix the problems. Has the national Highway Safety administration tries to get needed information to car owners. Nearly 8 million air bags need to be replaced because shrapnel can fly at drivers and passengers when the air bags deploy. So far, the defect has killed at least four people. But these outside groups, people funded by, say, both liberal and conservatives, billionaires who are contributing money to this. About 666 million is coming from these outside groups. They dont always have to disclose how much money theyre spending it and how theyre spending it. They do have to disclose on the commercial that this is paid for by another group and not by the candidate himself, right . Thats right. So people can tell. Compare this to president ial election years. How does this compare . The 2012 election cost about 6 billion. Obviously a lot more than this midterm cycle.
