live at the scene of a beltway crash in route 50. Melissa, whats going on . Reporter we have the chief to fill us in. The lanes in the inner loop shut down. Just a terrible accident. Chief, tell us what happened. About 2 45 this morning, got radio reports of a fire engine involved in an accident. The engine that was involved had just cleared an accident just up the road at route 50 and the beltway. The investigation is ongoing. What we do know is that a tractortrailer apparently hit the fire engine from the rear, spun that around. Both the fire engine and the tractortrailer overturned and then an suv that was on the outer loop also overturned as part of that accident. A total of seven patients, chief. Youre telling me all of them were transported out of here as trauma patients. First all four of the
Fire Department
folks were traumas. They were transported as priority one, the most severe. No lifethreatening injuries at this time. The other three were transported by ground as traumas. Everybody went by ground. What is the process as the cleanup continues . The

will take the lead with the investigation. Theyre working with the state police. Theyre just now beginning the process of doing all the measurements to get everything uprighted and out of here.
