Not a lot in the way of accumulation. Starting out this morning, well, we are warmer than we were yesterday morning. 24 is the temperature right now in washington. Many locations already in the low 20s. When you factor in the winds, this is how it feels outside. It feels about 10 in washington, 16 in college park, and a cold 6 degrees right now in dulles. Overall right now, temperatures today will be warmer than they have been. This is the system im tracking. As it pushes over the mountains, a lot of the snow will fall apart. Again, some scattered snow showers mainly later today. The area is dry right now. So heres what you can expect. Temperatures in the 30s today, some scattered snow, little but no accumulation. If you can expect snow coming up in a just over 10 minutes, angie. Thank you very much. More snow is headed to the region this weekend. This weekend, road crews are preparing for the Winter Weather. In the district, more than 200 trucks will treat the roads and neighborhood streets. The city is also reminding people to clear their sidewalks or risk getting a fine. In Prince Georges County, crews will monitor the roads and treat them as needed. The county is asking drivers to use caution because the road could be slick with a fresh dusting of that snow. And crews fixing water main breaks because theres been so many of them due to the Winter Weather. There have been 365 water main breaks in our area this month alone. A pipe on Rockville Pike burst yesterday morning near the white flint mall. Crews worked overnight to repair that pipe. And people affected by a water main break in alexandria should have Running Water this morning. Crews finished repairing the break that closed parts of duke and jordan streets. Police in Montgomery County are trying to figure out what led to this deadly crash. It happened at old georgetown road just off Rockville Pike. Were still working on getting the name of the person who was killed. A Montgomery County community is in mourning today as they try to wrap their heads around the death of a young teen. One of her friends is fighting for her life. Police say the girls accidentally crossed paths during a drag race. News 4 spoke with a family friend shortly after the accident. Covenant life pastor Joshua Harris mourns. A 15yearold student who goes to the churchs school died in this horrific crash near the church. Another student is in critical condition. Theyre precious girls, theyre loved by the School Community and our church community, and so there are a lot of people that are really mourning tonight. The teens were walking on the sidewalk after the school around 2 30. Suddenly, Police Say Two teenage drivers who may have been drag racing lost control, hit the girls and slammed into a tree. The teenage drivers and a passenger are okay. A friend of the victims broke down in tears at the scene. Students are heart broken. Its really sad. Police believe the possible drag race started at shady grove road and headed northbound. It has two lanes that merge into one at the top of the hill. Thats where investigators believe the cars collided. The victims pastor says the families cling to their faith. This morning, we now know how a former senate aide facing child pornography charges died. Police say he hung himself in the basement of his parents home thursday. He was awaiting trial for possessing and distributing child pornography. He was the former chief of staff to tennessee senator lamar alexander. A suspected drunk driver charged with aggravated manslaughter in a deadly crash in arlington. We learn the man arrested has been in trouble for driving drunk before. He struck a Chrysler Crossfire with deadly force killing a 24yearold man. Driver of the striking vehicle headed eastbound on lee highway remained onscene and currently being interviewed by police department, individuals at the headquarters. Reporter news 4 has learned that the man has a long history of traffic offenses, including speeding and reckless driving. In 2012, he was convicted of dwi. Officers charged 19yearold Justin Singleton with murder early this morning. They believe he shot and killed 20yearold Brandon Robinson friday afternoon. Initially, it was believed that four gunmen were on the campus at the time, right now its not clear if police are looking for any more people. Today, u. S. In the day ahead, crews will resume their search for missing residents following a deadly fire at a home in canada. Police officers decided to let the search crews rest from the cold and frigid temperatures. Crews have been using steam to melt the ice that froze over the home. The fire broke out thursday in eastern quebec. The towns acting mayor says many of the residents were in wheelchairs or used walkers. Man is searching for his dog, stolen from his home in the district. Thieves took a 2 1 2yearold cockapu named margaret. Peterson says thieves stole a tv, two ipads, and a laptop, but this is all he wants back, little margo. Hes offering a 10,000 reward for margos safe return. A man waking up behind bars today. Police tracked him down at a metro station. Before he was arrested, officers helped to save his life. Prince georges county bureau chief Tracy Wilkins has a look at the dramatic footage that led to his arrest. Reporter a normal day at chevrolet metro quickly changed when this man came walking through the station stumbled off the platform and on to the tracks. He appears intoxicated as he stumbles dangerously close to the third rail. A train passes by on the opposite track. Then he falls again. People on the platform look on before deciding to engage. Reporter it was after passengers here standing on the platform got him off of the tracks and back on to the platform that police were called. And thats when this story takes another interesting turn. Turns out, the man who fell on to the tracks was actually wanted, Eric Henderson of buie has an outstanding warrant. Once his name was put into a data base, it was discovered he was wanted for failing to appear on a trespassing charge. But his wrap sheet showing a range of charges. His actions could have put not only himself but metro passengers in jeopardy. According to Prince Georges County fire and ems, henderson was transported to Prince Georges County with nonlife threatening head injuries. The expectation was for him to be held there until Sheriff Deputies could take him into custody. He was released before that could happen. While hes not considered a violent offender, he does have this outstanding warrant and they plan to serve it. News 4. Happening today, metro will test a stretch of the new silver line in northern virginia. Tonight, crews will run trains. At the same time, metro will run the regular orange line service. The Airports Authority says its fixed a Software Glitch that delayed testing for several weeks. The first phase of the silver line connects the metro system to Tysons Corner in reston. And the second phase will expand the line to dulles and into loudon county. Metro crews are doing track work on all five lines. And you can expect some delays this weekend. On the green line, trains will run every 16 minutes, orange, blue and yellow line trains will run every 20 minutes and on the red line, trains could run as much as 24 minutes apart. More red line will run through downtown during the daytime and everything should be back to normal in time for monday mornings commute. Amelia here now to talk about the snow chances. How is it looking . Minimal snow chances. People are asking are we going to get a dusting or hit again . Just a dusting, maybe up to an inch in some areas. But the big weather headline this weekend, were getting a break from the frigid air. Temperatures today, well, theyll still be running below average, but our high yesterday was 24 degrees. Today, our high will be about 34 degrees. Satellite and radar right now tracking cloudy skies across the area. You can see in West Virginia snow there. As the snow continues to push eastward, a lot of it is just going to fall apart. By the time it tries to move into our area, most of us seeing the chance of some light snow. Temperatures this morning in the low 20s, a big improvement from yesterday morning when we were only in the single digits. 20 in rockville, 22 over in annapolis, 21 degrees this morning in leesburg and manassas, 22 down in warrenton. It is breezy outside right now and breezy throughout the day today. This is how it feels. Your windchill temperature feels about 10 in washington and 6 in camp springs. Heading out this morning, you need to dress warm, its cold outside but not dangerously cold like it has been for the last few mornings. Now, with future weather, here we are, 8 00 a. The chill starts to ease a little bit once we get into the latter part of next week around thursday, High Temperature of 35 degrees, friday High Temperature of 41. So, again, maybe some snow today, but i really think most people are going to be saying it is not so cold out here. Its not as cold as it has been. Its nice for those getting above freezing for sure. The Special Olympics fundraiser is an annual affair for many of these folks, but with snow on the ground and frigid temps in the air, this one was a little different.
