Quantico 24 but as we go through the day today we will be in the low 50s for a high. So if you are dining out today, by lunchtime, 44 degrees. Mostly sunny. He resigned in 2012 after admitting to giving classified information to his mistress. Petraeus met with trump during the transition when he was being considered for secretary of state. Park police have not said whether more than one car was involved in this cash. Right now Hyattsville Police are urging people to be on high alert. Eight armed december. This morning were learning how two recent murders and three disappearances are tied to one dangerous gang in Northern Virginia. 15yearolds body was found in springfield. Police zeroed in on the while investigating a different murder in pcounty. A 21yearold man was killed and left in the Potomac River last month. Everyone involved in both crimes has ties to the same gang. And Officials Say these crimes show how gangs are recruiting teenagers to carry out their violence. Justin finch live at Fairfax Police head quarts on what theyre trying to do to top this problem. Reporter theyre teaming up to take down these gangs. Officials say these gang influences are closer than you may think. Now, this all comes through a new regional report on gangs that focuses on ms 13 finding that it is increasingly recruiting juveniles and young adults especially those that speak spanish and there has been an increase in violent activity. The mother of reyes daughter was targeted by ms 13 before she was found dead in springfield last weekend. They havent confirmed that direct tie but they find that gangs are recruiting in our high schools and middle schools promising protection and security. And if anyone sees something suspicious on campus, they are asked to speak up. The gang crime knows no boundaries. And this is difficult to combat, but we have great detectives, great advocates who support our work and we will be tireless in making arrests. Reporter and given the wide range of gangs in the reyes and other cases in the area police are asking for as many tips as possible. We are live at Police Headquarters. Back in to you. She left her home on february 9th. Call the Sheriffs Office if you know where to find her. And the search is on for this man. Hes 59 years old. His name is Turner Joseph stevenson and police say he has dementia. He was last seen on tuesday around 4 00 p. M. He was leaving his residence at apartments in silver spring. I just posted this picture on twitter and facebook. Call police if you have any information. Firefighters are watching hot spots after a massive multialarm fire. Take a look at the flames here and the smoke. The flames erupted at warehouse in baltimore late last night. The fire and thick black smoke forced crew to shut down streets and light rail in the area. The wind is taking the blame for a house fire in arlington. The homeowners told firefighters they had a fire pit going in the backyard last night and the winds kicked up sending flames toward the house and catching the siding on fire. No one was hurt in this incident. Now, wind should not be a factor today, but the sun will. Right . You betcha. Suns up before 7 00 a. M. Thank you. False negatives. That is what two pregnant women were given after they were tested for the zika virus. How Officials Say this happened and whether you need to be worried about this. Megan . Reporter well, good morning. These women, they thought they were okay. They thought they were in the clear, but they were not. Two pregnant women who tested negative for the zika virus have now learned that they are in fact, positive. The mistake in testing was discovered during a recent audit of the d. C. Lab. Retesting is already underway. Examined again. Now, so far two false negatives have been discovered. Those two pregnant women, but health Officials Say there will likely be more. Assuming there may be some in there and we are also hopeful that the ma jor oi of those will continue to be retesting as being negative. Reporter and those two women have had their babies. Its unknown whether or not there were any Health Problems with respect to those babies, those deliveries. Now, the botched tests were done between july 14th of last year and december the 14th. Testing, retesting understoway could take four week to get those results back. Back to you. Well, given the developmentes in the district we wanted to remind you of the signs and symptoms of zika. Red eyes, fever, joint pain or rash, people can also e symptoms are usually mild and many people dont get sick enough to go to the hospital. Symptoms last a week. Zika is commonly spread through mosquito bites from mother to child, through sex or through blood transfusion. Zika poses a much greater risk for unborn babies. It can cause birth defects including microcephaly. Women are discouraged from traveling to areas where zika is pref len prevalent. Doctors say its not too late to get vaccinated. The flu vaccine is nearly 50 effective this year. They say the vaccination has reduced the number of flu associated medical visits by roughly half. Health care encourage anybody over the age of six month to get a flu shot. Will robinson, 17 years old, a ge junior. He was the guy giving people hugs in the hall in the morning the cheer them up. He was the guy that so many people went to with their problems. Reporter nobody knew but beneath that smile was a form of depression and in january of last year he took his own life. We didnt realize what was going on with him down he was way down the path. Were lose ago lot of young people and and we just got to have better solutions. Reporter this show, part of that solution. Its called a will to survive. Many here knew will but all want to share the message that no one has to feel alone. If this show can save a life, if it can start a conversation, if it can let one kid know theyre not alone, we have to do it over and over. Police in Northern Virginia are raising concerns about violent gangs that appear to be targeting students in schools. A regional Law Enforcement task force put together a new threat assessment and one of the gangs theyre focusing on is ms 13. Erika traveled to el salvador and she joins us more with what she learned.
