But you know what, if you were like laura, and got stuck inside all day today, dont worry, were doing this again tomorrow. I hope you get a chance to at least spend some time outside or get your lunch outside. Because high temperatures today well above average. Wow very unusual for early march. Dullos, 78 degrees, bwi, 77 degrees. And i got a head line this, because while we are expect to go have another real warm day tomorrow, we may break tomorrows record, and that record is 80 degrees set in 1964. So we may tie it or break it, which means, were looking at 08 degrees day tomorrow. Unbelievable. It is so mild out there. Just delightful. I have to say that i had the heat still running in my house, and i had to remind myself that needs to come off. And these windows need to open up. But when you do open those windows, keep in mind the tree political send really running high. Ill have that count coming up a little later, but definitely seeing a lot of trees out there, starting to pollinate, cedar, juniper, elm and maple, according to sue. So it is 73 in d. C. It is 78 in quantico right now. We widen the picture out, plenty more heat on the map. Seventy in pittsburgh, i know they just are thrilled about that, even bingham tomorrow, 64. Still little chilly for boston richmond is 77 degrees. So, definitely a wonderful spring preview, courtesy of High Pressure off the east coast. Sort of a bermuda high for this time of year off in a position we see it in in the summer and that pumps in the south and southwest winds, and bottom line, it is 15 to 30 degrees above normal. Even tonight were going to be above normal at 53 for the low, thats what our average high for the day should be, so clearly, we are in bonus territory, and you know, these types of warm days have a big effect on our flowering trees, as well. And a little while ago we heard some big news from the tidal basin, huge Tourist Attractions ill let caitlin roth tell you the big news down at the tidal basin. So glad you got to go outside today too, caitlin. High there, see sue, it is beautiful out. Before i get to the breaking news, which i know you can get one thing, it is gorgeous, so many people are taking taking advantage on this n werth, on the drive down here i dont think ive seen so many runners, bikers in early march. So it is fabulous weather, just before we got down here we did get winds of big news concerning the Cherry Blossoms, for that im going to bring in the officials. We have spokesperson from the National Park service, mike with me here. Mike, thanks for joining us. All right, it was expected that the peak Cherry Blossom date this year would be from march 31 to april 3rd. But that has since changed watch can you tell us . That has changed dramatically, glorious weather were experiencing this week. But the high temperatures, the potential record setting temperatures later this week, have actually forced us to revise the projected peak bloom date. Now looking at them being out on march 18th, just ten days from now. Ten days, march 18th. So were going to be down here in ten days which is hard to believe when you dont see much blooming. I mean, we have some leaves out there. But i know it does happen very quickly, and we are expecting that to be from the 18th to i believe the 23rd, correct . Yes, 18th, 23rd, is what were now the projected peak bloom period. Thats when 70 of the osino trees, the most common variety down here, 7 of the trees are expected to be in bloom. You always thought this would be a year where the blooms would occur earlier than normal. Whats the average time of the year you see the Cherry Blossoms bloom. Average date for peak bloom april 4th each year. Last couple years april 10th, year before that april 9th. But for the seven years before that all before april 4th. So weve been sort of seeing historically the date move, creep up little earlier and earlier. We projected this years peak bloom date, based on 5 degrees warmer than average april, but so far through march we are 9 degrees warmer than usual. And thats whats so dramatically sped up the blooming process. Thank you, all about the weather, its been warm winter at times, and of course it has been so unseasonably warm, nearly 08 degrees today. And coming in the next couple of days, thank you so much. And laura, jim, i think youll be seeing me out here in ten days from now, unexpectedly early, the date for the Cherry Blossoms peak moved up significantly march 18th to march 23rd now.
