Police have shut down several blocks in the area of pennsylvania avenue and donnell drive as they continue to canvas for evidence and also look for any possible witnesses. The call came out around 5 30 this evening. Police responded to the 3700 block of donnell drive where they found two 18yearolds lying in a parking lot. Both had been shot. One of them who police say was a freshman at Suitland High School was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the other 18yearold also taken to the hospital at last checklisted in grave condition. Police say there is nothing to indicate this case is connected to the Fatal Shooting of a 15 yearold Suitland High School student last night. One woman walked up and said she is a teacher at suitland and said she is very upset. She said this violence has to stop. I am trembling right now with grief. This has got to stop somewhere. Its horrible. Its terrible. These kids are retaliating for nothing. Senseless murders, senseless. Reporter very tragic and again back out here in forestville we do have a very active scene underway. We just got word from Suitland High School. A spokesman released a statement saying they are just horrified to learn that another student has been killed offering their deepest condolences to the family. It goes on to say that we cannot go another day without undressing these unspeakable without addressing these unspeakable acts. Police are asking anyone with information please come forward. Police have said that they at this point dont have anything to indicate that the cases are connected. Of course, the investigation is still in the early stages and theyre trying to figure everything out. Theyre still here at the scene. It was just some folks we spoke with that walked up who said that they knew some of the teens involved and that they believe they all know each other, the teen from last night and the teens from tonight, but thats just from folks on the street walking by. The number of students shot and killed in Prince Georges County since the beginning of the school year now stands at six. Investigators think the motive of the shooting for the teenager yesterday was a new pair of shoes in his shopping bag. Back in august 17yearold Amber Stanley was killed during an apparent home invasion. About two weeks later marckel ross was shot walking to school. In december 14yearold elyza reyes was gunned down and jones was shot leaving a birthday party. He was just 15, Charles Walker often called chuck or cj by friends and family is now remembered by them at the spot where he was shot in the back monday, 28th avenue near iverson mall. Im thinking he was just beat up or something and i didnt want to touch him. Reporter she found walker right after the shooting. The teen was only a block from home. Hes somebody. Hes somebodys child. Hes somebody. Hes somebodys cousin. Reporter Prince Georges County police say walker was carrying a shop bag with a new pair of shoes inside. Heres the chief. We believe that mr. Walker was approached based on him carrying that bag that identified he had what appeared to be a shoe bag. Reporter fox 5s paul wagner filed an earlier report and learned from a source walker refused to hand over the shopping bag. And instead of handing over the bag the source says that walker turned to run and that the gunman then opened fire shooting walker once in the back. Never looked into the bag to even see what was inside. Reporter walkers relatives say he was carrying a pair of timberland boots he was going to give to his girl friend and he was heading to the bus stop when he was killed. The county states attorney who would prosecute walkers killer if an arrest is made is as disgusted as anyone else hearing about another senseless crime. I am really enraged that a young person in our community cant walk the streets with a shopping bag without being shot in the back. Thats something that ought to be of concern to our entire community. Arrests have been made in two of the murders we mentioned, the reyes and jones cases, and more arrests are expected by the end of the week, if not sooner. Tonight at 11 00 well hear from a school board member. A developing story out of virginia, Police Identified a woman believed to have been murdered and left in a burning reston apartment. Shes 38yearold Jennifer Pierson and police say she was pregnant. Firefighters found her body after responding to her apartment complex on waterside view drive. Investigators say piersons body was badly burned and had trauma to the upper body no, suspects yet. Lawyers plan to file a motion for a new trial in the killing of chandra levy. The arguments were made during previously closed hearings. Records were unsealed today. The case hinged on testimony of a jailhouse inmate who said guandique confessed to killing levy. Guandique is serving a 60 years prison sentence for levys murder. Breaking news tonight out of kansas city, missouri, an entire block went up in flames tonight. Officials say a car crashed into a gas main in an upscale shopping district. At least 14 people were hurt. Police dont know yet if anyone was killed. President obama is pressuring congress to act now and avoid the across the board cuts that kick in march 1st. Reporter behind the wheel its a choice you have to make often, go through the yellow or hit the brakes to avoid the red. Its primarily about safety, but when theres a camera, its also about money. We just want to make sure that people are getting a fair shake. Reporter it was this report from a tv station in st. Louis that got Council MemberVincent Orange thinking. Are some yellow lights shorter than others . This fox station in tampa also did a yellow light investigation. It was amazing. I never thought about it, but when i saw this report that you can play with the time of the yellow lights, it will increase the revenue. Reporter orange proposed legislation tuesday to set a standard for yellow lights even though d. C. s department of transportation already has one. Four seconds is the minimum yellow light time before a red. Other factors might make it longer. Its a four second minimum per signal light intersection. That number is based on a number of factors, for instance, the size of the intersection. Its also based on the posted speed limits.
