However, reports say moarp a half a dozen fbi agents showed up to this building this morning to search and cease records. They came to search located on the third floor. They described themeses as a fullservice Campaign Group that does tv print and email advertising and telemarketing. The capital georgia set reports while fbi agents were here on scene, the groups president kelly rogers talked with reporters. Rogers toaltd reporters he believed the fbi was here regarding the groups work for republican nominee Ken Kutch Nelly during the 2013 virginias governors race. A civil suit was brought on by the kutch nelly camp after he lost the race to terry mcauliffe. The Campaign Group april associated conservative strike force which is also a controversial Political Action committee duped donors into thinking more than 2 million would go to help elect the gop candidate. The suit alleged rogers group and the pack failed to follow through on an extensive media campaign. So rom ers says he believes investigation stems from those allegations. Now fox5 did make several calls to this office and to rogers today, but we did not hear back. However, rogers did tell reporters this morning that the investigation will clear his name. Thats the latest in downtown annapolis, Anjali Hemphill, fox5 a local news. Tonight, Ken Kutch Nelly is talking only to fox5 about the raid. He spoke with Marina Maracco. She is live tonight at fbis Washington Headquarters with the exclusive. Marina . Reporter some pretty strong words from ken gucci who called this entire company a complete scam. Back in 2013 with he was the attorney general for virginia. He was running on the republican ticket for the governorship of virginia. He was running against now governor ter t imac cullive and he says that this all stems back to that race, back to 2013. This probes being handled by the Fbis Washington Field Office because th virginia despite the raid happening up in annapolis, in maryland. Back to 2013, guch nelly says the strategic Campaign Group had formed this Political Action committee but he he says he saw zero dollars from that pack help fund his campaign. So then he sued them and today when he learned of the raid he says hes happy this happened and he feels relieved and he says from today were going to be hearing more campaigns were scammed, not just his. They raised all this money on my name, my campaign and my picture. They used all these pieces, a lot of people who dough t nateed thought they were donating to the campaign and they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars identified just on that basis. Much less the two plus Million Dollars they raised just in 2013 carrying on similarly false activities. They go ride the back of scott walk error might nom my when he was running for congress. Our race for the governorship. They pick whatever does the best for fundraising that year and they ride it. They pay themselves consultant fees. They spend single digit percentages on politics donating to candidates, doing ab or c that might actually move the political ball forward and all the rest of it is just to run the system, to race the money and to pay themselves and their vendors and so forth. This is a political fundraising swamp. The scam packs are real and they exist all over the country and they pray on peoples intense feelings about politics. For the record, guch nelly says he doesnt believe that had his campaign received any of this money he doesnt believe that that would have tipped the scale in fav nelly. He says he and the group settled back in 2015 for roughly 85,000 and as for todays raid he says the fbis has not made contact with his office. Tonight in northwest d. C. , Marina Maracco. Shawn, over to you. Now to a fox5 exclusive. For the first time the head of Prince Georges CountyPublic Schools is talking about the hundreds of Staff Members put on leave following allegations of abuse or misconduct. There have been 800 so far just this school year. Teachers tell us, though, this new policy is pulling good people out of the classrooms. Fox five as Lindsay Watts is in Upper Marlboro tonight with the latest. Reporter we had to catch up with doctor Kevin Maxwell after tonights School Board Meeting because more than a month we had been requesting a sit down meeting. Those requests were about this incredibly high number of teachers who are being accused of abuse and miss cop you can did. My latest open records request shows nearly l hundred cases this school year. Im not going to say that we dont have some over reporting thats going on, but i think you have to take that in the context weve had some very serious things done to our children and they are absolutely unacceptable and we will never, ever tell our employees not to report things that they think are child abuse. Do you think the poly ses are strong, good . A. I think the board policies are fine. I think we need to make some adjustments in some of our procedures that were operating under and make clear. Weve made some adjustments in our practices. Staff weve independent viewed say interviewed say they are over reacting. Some tell t us its now to the point if you touch a child for any reason you run the leave and that students know they can make up allegations to get rid of teachers. In the ma are the jo of these case he the accused Staff Members are sent home on paid leave. This issue did come up at the Board Meeting tonight. Heres the head of the teachers union. The morale is low. When teachers can leave here and go to a urned sing jurisdiction where they dont fear for their job for a accusation that is not true. Dr. Mansion well dismissed this idea of low mor article saying hes heard from many in the community who appreciate these new policies. I asked him whether he thinks this is impacting students, some of them who are losing their teachers for months on end. He says at this point its unclear. You heard him earlier say that theyre going to be making some adjustments to the procedures that are now in place, but i pressed him for specifics, what is the plan to make sure this doesnt happen next year . Heres what happens . Are we going to see a repeat of this nex absolutely not. Were not seeing a repeat of what we saw at the beginning of the year or at the end of last year were already much improved. The cases have wrist especially from 150 to 738. When you want to miix apples and oranges and throw in the conduct as opposed to abuse you have to be careful which category were talking about. Are we saying we dont want to ignore misconduct, i dont think we want to go there. We need to expect our people to be professional. You recognize it is a very number of cases, dr. Maxwell so will the standards be different next year. The standard of how we conduct ourselves professionally will not change. So it will be the same when it comes to reporting abuse and how these cases are treated. If you believe that a child has been abused you should report that to child protectives of ses. We a reporters under state law. I will never tell an employee in Prince Georges County that if they believe a child has been abused that they should not report that. And so that standard will there because it is the law. But then will there be again 800 cases of reported abuse next year . Ive already said that the numbers are down and they will continue to go down. Thank you very much. We have seen no proof that the numbers are going down. We did open records requests one month apart. That showed in that timeframe the cases increased by more than 10050. Were going to have more on this story tomorrow because there are School Board Members who feel there is no plan coming from maxwells office to address this. So they are making their own plan. They met with teachers just this week. Like i said, much more to come tomorrow. Shawn. Thank you lindsay s.
