Unfortunately, it does involve a pedestrian who has passed away so this is going to be at the intersection with belcher road where were seeing the westbound lanes are blocked and we do have some delays reported in the area and i apologize. Sensors have been off in Pinellas County a little bit as far as the positioning but this is back up towards u. S. 19 in that westbound direction. So drivers, please avoid the area. Normally for this, i would throw out maybe drew street as a good work around since its not too far from gulf to bay. Its just to the north and westbound and eastbound but theres a separate crash working at old coachman road there and were seeing notable delay. I would say maybe druitt street or east bay, those are some work arounds for you. We do have a crew headed to the scene so well give you a live report as soon as we can. Dave . Right in the middle of pasco county now. That one lonely little shower moving over, looks like the suncoast now and a couple headed toward spring hill, up around bayport. Onshore wind flow so its warm, muggy. Well have some cloud cover and those showers will eventually shift inland in the afternoon. But he may be reluctant to sign he wants more money to fight zika. Weve had more than 900 cases of the sfwl ika virus in florida. That includes 14 new cases from the daily update we get from the state. Eight of those cases involve people travelling out of florida, including three in polk county. The other six people with zika got it from mosquitos in the miami area and Pinellas County is clear of zika. Health department finished an investigation regarding a non travel related case. About 70 people came in contact with that person, all of those by passing that spending bill we mentioned, congress was able to beat a friday deadline. Reporter the westbound lane of the intersection is mreet complete completely down. Just another pedestrian killed here in this intersection. This has a history of issues where pedestrians are involved in an accident or just another car crash in the area and you can see its shut off. I dont want to pan because the body is still here. No doubt its tragic for them and their families. There are family members that are here and obviously they are devastated by whats happened. I can tell you that there is a sure if the well chair is involved in the incident or maybe it was here prior. Were trying to figure out the very latest in the incident. We do have a camera not too far away from where im at now. That will give you a better perspective of the scene itself. From what we understand, the white minivan was involved in this crash. The driver did not leave the scene. They stopped the vehicle and working with investigators and again, to try to figure out whats going on, whether or not this pedestrian crossed the street in this area. I dont see a crosswalk. Belcher and gulf to bay is a little further up from where that van is at now. Its probably about 150, 200 yards away and obviously, the crosswalk is further up. I can tell you, again, that this is a very busy intersection, about 80,000 cars pass through day. From january of 2009 to december of 2013, 153 crashes occurred here. You know, at least one of them fatal, including that crossing guard that was killed two years ago. He was about 70 years old. He was a retired Police Officer and again, he was killed at that crosswalk. I made a phone call to the department of transportation because i know that they have looked into this make any changes, whether it be adding lights or adding, you know, flashing lights, letting drivers know that this is a heavy pedestrian area. Im hoping to hear back from d. O. T. This morning and hopefully ill let you know what they tell me in the next hour. Just another fatality here at this intersection so if you can, youll want to avoid it because it does have traffic backed up of gulf to bay. Earlier in the week, we were hoping that this front would slide far enough south that it would provide us with some drier air, at least a bit of it. It doesnt look like that is going to happen. This front may get down to Central Florida but the drier air may not go further than Citrus County. That means were kind of stuck with this onshore wind flow likely here for the next few here is Tropical Storm matthew with winds around 65 miles per hur, scheduled to become a hurricane. Looks like it takes a northerly turn over the weekend. The big question is where . And the very latest, latest computer models coming in now take it on this path and this is the Hurricane Centers official forecast for now, taking it up the eastern most part of cuba and then to the east coast of our country. All the way up the east coast and then round it out and turn it out to sea. This far away from the coast. So well see how that gets maneuvered but i have to tell you once this gets past cuba into an area favorable for development, it could be stronger than what the forecast is indicating. So still plenty of time to watch temperature. Scattered rain, some storms. Overall rain chances are going to be around 40 to 50 today, back to 40 tomorrow and saturday and then well bring it up to 50 for the second half of this upcoming weekend. This is affecting all of the westbound lanes of gulf to bay. This is a live look right now and as you can see, we do have a us. Unfortunately, you know, this is an area where we see quite a few crashes and once again, this has hapened again. Work arounds for you guys is towards the south. As i mentioned in previous reports, we do have drew street dealing with some delays from a previous blockage and crash so druid road and if you want to go further south, we have belleair. Also if youre so inclined, go down to east bay. We have some delays here that are growing. This is a wreck from, i would say, probably hour. 75 southbound, manatee county, this is at University Parkway right and center lanes will be blocked on the overpass itself and you can see we have notable congestion all the way back to state road 07 70 and then moderate congestion back to state road four. You might find a quicker route by Lakewood Ranch and those folks in Lakewood Ranch, i apologize. Youll probably see delays in your area. Its south
