Forward movement for this storm, we started that westerly component. 115 mile per hour winds. So still, a major hurricane. Projected to once again ge drarngsly close. Governor scott is talking right now a little update on what they are doing in preparation for this storm. So lets talk to him current weather at 11 15 i will speaking with National Hurricane center. All 67 florida counties. Ive been in contact with a sheriffs, mayors, utility companies, and Emergency Management officials all across the state. We should not focus on this, on projected path we should think about whether f. It does hit land fall what we will do. Move closer to our state. Theres now some forecast that put a direct hit on our state. Regardless of if theres direct hit or not, the impacts will be devastating. I cannot emphasize enough everyone in our state must prepare now for direct hit. Be prepared for a direct hit. Dont trust that the storm path is correct. Just remember a storm going up coast mean a catastrophic change along floridas east coast. We have to prepare for a direct hit. We will likely to see impacts in our state within next 24 hours and last through the weekend. This is very slow moving storm. That means people have less than 24 hours left to prepare, evacuate and shelter. Having a plan in place could mean difference between life and death when it comes to storm of right now we expect to see impacts all along floridas east coast. Ranging from upper keys to nassau county. We will still focus on i 95 corridor of tstate. Impacts of Hurricane Matthew could ilude heavy rain, forecast projected 4 to seven inches of upper keysorthward toe of these areas. And lets think about prior storms. Weve seen bands that trumped more than that. Storm surge. Highs expected to be above ground. Forecast project 3 to 5 feet from North Palm Beach to the Flagler Volusia county line. Rip currents, beach erosion. Tornadoes. And Hurricane Force winds. Even if the storm remains off shore, Tropical Storm force winds will extend into our state. As of now wind strength is our the probability of high wind speeds has continued to increase a forecast develops. The probability for hurricane streak winds continues to increase. But again, this could quickly change and become much worse. These are all projections. We must prepare to be hit by a devastating hurricane. Remember, these are simply projections. Hurricane warning are in effect from north god enbeach and miamidade could is a basilica yan inlet in county and lake okeechobee. Theres currently hurricane watch in sebastian and nassau county. Theres a Tropical Storm warning in effect for and Collier County to golden beach. Florida keys from 7 mile bridge eastward and florida bay. This is a dangerous storm. And is never too early to evacuate. It is never too early to on island area prone to flooding you need to consider making your plans now to leave. Dont wait for the order to do it. If you know that youre prone to flooding youre in barrier island, a low lying area go ahead and leave. Current evacuations include brevard county, mandatory evacuations for Barrier Islands at 3 00 p. So, out of respect for those models Hurricane Centers buying into this now as well saying, we shortterm heres your here is your path this gets tweaked 40 miles either way youve got an eye wall on shore. Thats what the big concern could be. Lets say for argument it takes this path. Doesnt deviate at all. Were still looking potential for Tropical Storm force winds in polk county and highlands county. Thats why they are under a Tropical Storm watch. I will show you those in a second. By monday, out here off coast minimal hurricane. Tropical storm watch polk county, highlands counties winds possibly over 39 to 49 Miles Per Hour hurricane warning down to golden beach. I expect those hurricane warnings to be pushed further north as well. Now this is just one computer model, friday morning, 4 00 a. M. Pumping out wind gusts. This is a forecast, 31 Miles Per Hour. 39 in orlando. 85 in west palm. Then as the storm parallels and comes up the coast fast forward to 10 00 a. M. 80 mile per hour wind gusts in vero beach. 38 in tampa. 56 in orlando. And yeah, 50 mile per hour wind is enough to cause some damage. You go to 5 oclock on friday, Daytona Beach with a 90 mile per hour wind gust. Tampa still at 38. And orlando at 45. So my point is Tropical Storm force winds that extend outward west side of storm about 100 miles. So obviously, wherever this storm as closest path you go out over 100 miles you will have Tropical Storm force winds which will most likely include polk county and highlands county. If it jogs further west areas to the west of that. Thats why we need to be on look out as well. No were not concerned about storm surge or anything like or even Hurricane Force winds at this point. But we just got to be wary of 30 parts of our viewing area. 88 for high today. Rain chances just, your normal northeast to southwest movement. Fast moving showers. By the weekend, i still think its going to be nice weekend.
