She wondered why the two guys she just hired to shovel her driveway and sidewalk were stopped by lower merion township police. The two africanamerican were told to sit in the snow while being questioned by officer. She believes the stop was solely based on race, and touched off a social media fire storm on the Township CommunityFacebook Page page. I have friends who have children of color who also have, um, you know, issues with their kids being stopped in lower merion. Whereas maybe other caucasian kids are not stopped. Reporter the turns out the kids were not kids. Lower merion township tells fox 29 officers did stop and question two groups of men shoveling driveways on tuesday. They ranged in ages from 18 to 40 years old all of them africanamerican. In a statement township spokesperson tells us we dont have a problem with kids shoveling driveways but adults going door to door need a township solicitation permit the stops had nothing to do with race officers were enforceing a local ordinance some residents see it from both sides. The police are really on high alert. Wee had lot of break ins in the area these kids who come around to shovel are just, you know, trying to help out in the neighbor. Reporter she eventually paid the shovelers after officers left. She says she would like some sort of answer from police. Could they have put the kids in the police car and asked them questions instead of had them sit in the snow . Did they stop everyone who looks over 18 regardless of color . Reporter the township has started an internal investigation but tells us tonight making those kinds of stops for illegal solicitation is nothing new. This is the guy Philadelphia Police think attacked a teenaged girl on a trolley last wednesday. His name is day men Oliver Police arrested him for allegedly punching a 17yearold girl in the face breaking her nose and giving her a black eye and scratches. The teen says she accidentally bumped into oliver with her book bag a few times before he attack her. Hes facing several charges including assault. Reporter the Mayors Office confirms uniped penn investigation by the Inspector General after sources say the female paramedic filed an equal Employment Opportunity complaint alleging Sexual Misconduct against her. What followed were allegations she had sex with two male firefighters in a vehicle and with other firefighters supervisors including batallion chiefs and paramedic at multiple firehouses in the city.
