Officials say theyve identified the officers and internal affairs is investigating. At that point diss plain nary action will be initiated on the officers involved in this particular situation. Reporter many people we spoke to say the officers should face consequences. I dont know if they should get fired for it but i think that theres definitely needs to be some reprimand. Theyre supposed to be watching seat because, i mean, theres no such thing as safety any more, because theres always somebody out on the loose thats out to get you. When theyre sleeping there could be a crime going on behind the police car and they wont even know about it. Reporter Law Enforcement Officials Say this image isnt the message they want to send to citizens about the Philadelphia Police department. They also say it is dangerous for officers. That may sound a little dramatic but the reality is, if someone was able to get close enough to take a photograph of these officers, the same thing could have been done in terms of these officers being either hurt or killed. Skyfox over a deadly crash earlier tonight. Hours later, all southbound lanes of the new jersey turnpike are still closed in west deptford. Troopers tell us two people died in this crash just past 5 30 and still no word on exactly how many cars were involved or what happened here. We do know one of the cars caught fire. Traffic right now is getting diverted off exit four. A developing story tonight as Northampton County police say they have arrested the man who hit and killed a nineyearold boy with his car and just kept on driving. Prosecutors charging 22yearold royce atkins today. Authorities say atkins hit darius co condash friday night n hanover township. According to investigators the boy was crossing the street with a friend and a cousin and went back to pick up some candy he dropped. Thats when he was hit. He died later at a local hospital and police say an autopsy tip anonymous tip led to atkins. Detective gary hammer located atkins at his place of employment. He interviewed atkins and atkins had admitted to striking the boy and leaving the scene. Police say they have impounded his car. Theyre waiting for search warrant so they can search it tomorrow. Atkins is in jail tonight. No arrest yet in a double murder in Fairmount Park. Police believe they may be on a motive. Theyre calling the killing of a couple in the back seat of an suv the crime of passion. Fox 29s Dave Schratwieser is live in Fairmount Park near the scene of the crime. Dave . Reporter lucy, police have recovered fingerprints from outside and inside the suv in which that couple was murdered on friday. Theyre hoping those prints may lead them to killer. But in the meantime, theyre trying to unravel a romantic web that involved both victims. The crime scene it appears to be very much a crime of passion. Reporter homicide investigators now believe the murder of 25yearold shakor arline and 32yearold lisa smith on friday was and up close and personal crime carried out by someone who followed them here to carry out an execution. Because somebody knew that they were in the park at that time and obviously had issue with that. Victims were shot definitely time at close range. Reporter police now say the victims were involved in a romantic relationship each was also involved in ongoing relationships with other people. Reporter police say arline and smith was partially clothed when the gunman fired nine shots into the suv. Investigators say the couple had come here before for romantic encounters. They have known each other for a couple of years. They originally met at the workplace and they had some type of domestic relationship the last couple of years. Reporter police fingerprints from the vehicle and are awaiting lab result. The victims were shot with a 40 caliber handgun. Police have also spoken with a woman involved with arline theyre trying to locate and speak with the man involved with smith. They both have relationships with other people. So obviously thats where this investigation is going right now. Well see where it goes. Reporter now neither of the victim has a criminal reco record. Police insist this was not a robbery. Nothing was missing from the suv. Theyre looking now for witnesses who may have seen the couple drive up on to lemon hill drive or someone else drive up. New tonight police tell us an armed robber they believe targeted two people in just hours has turned himself in. We showed you this Surveillance Video from the robberies last week. Investigators say minutes after we aired that video they got several calls from people who recognized the suspect. Police say 29yearold Rodney Hughes turned himself in today. So far, hes only charged in one of those crimes tonight. To center citibanks robbed in matter of minutes one bicycle cop to the rescue. Police say the man featured in this video robbed td bank and pnc bank both near ninth 11th and mark streets. Right around 1 30 this afternoon. They say he jumped into a car but an officer on a bicycle saw it all happen. Stopped the cab at tenth and race and arrested him. The gunman who opened fire near new york city busy penn station this morning is still on the streets. Police say it started with a fight outside a nearby mcdonalds. Two people are hurt. A south philly rat problem getting worse by the day a family says a house opened by the Philadelphia Housing Authority is so infested with giant rats, they want to move out. Im terrified. Im scared. I called him. Oh, my god, his food is gone. Reporter neighbors think the house next door may be the cause of the recent infestation. Although no one was home when we were there, weve learned the Citys Department of license and inspections has taken that neighbor to court for a long list of code violations. But for now, the rats rule this house. They like playing a game with us. Like they see us. They hide. You know, its like they dont care. Its like they took they got the house. Reporter the family says they cant afford the 500 exterminator says will fix the problem. They say theyve contacted pha at least five times and cant get anyone to show up. They want the problem fixed or a new home. I dont feel safe in this house. Not with no rats. I never lived with rats before and dont want to. Fishing boat that put out a may day call last night off the coast of new jersey has made it back to shore safely. The coast guard said launched helicopters and boats from Atlantic City to try to find that vessel which was taking on water. Officials later learned that that vessel made it back to shore okay thankfully nobody was hurt. To Pennsylvania Attorney general Kathleen Kane keep her job despite not having a license to practice law . Kane lost her license after prosecutors charged her with leaking secret grand jury information then lying under oath to cover that up. Today a special Senate Committee called upon three district attorneys to ask they need a law license to do their job. The prosecutors told the senators they need active licenses for just about every aspect of their work. Attorney general kane argues many of her responsibilitie rese managerial which she can do without her license she says. Shes also challenged the committees authority to remove her from office.
