Officials answering questions tonight on the campus of Rowan University about the safety of its drinking water. School Officials Say recent tests found increased levels of lead in several of its buildin buildings. Now its warning students and staff not to drink any water that comes from any building on campus. Reporter well officials believe the problem with the water is because of the age the older buildings that they have here on campus. They started doing testing in july but for right now they dont want students drinking any water on campus. Im really concerned about it, because i brushed my teeth with it this morning. I forgot. Reporter freshman and her friends pick up bottled water provided by Rowan University after tests found lead in the water op campus. University officials immediately posted signs and issued email alerts instructing students not to drink or cook with the water for now. My ra was really helpful with telling us, upping, they put a lot of posters on the floors. University Officials Say an employee first noticed the water in linden hall was discolored. Over the past month, the university performed tests on the water in that building and on several others on the same water line. They say the tests found elevate the levels of lead and iron in the water. Right now were still in the testing mode so in the Residence Halls weve asked students dont drink the water and were supplying them with water.
