The boys father is cooperating but still there are many Unanswered Questions tonight. State police in bucks county detectives worked into the night collecting evidence trying determine whether twoyearold Benjamin Austin smith did in fact get hold of a gun and accidentally shoot himself in the chest. Whether it was self inflicted or not thats the manner for investigation to determine. Reporter the boy was rushed to st. Lukes hospital in quakertown where he died. You see the ambulance up there. They were only there for couple minutes. So they brought him out real quick. Reporter police say the toddler was home only with his father Nicholas Wiley late this morning when the gun went off. Its believed the childs mother lived here and work across the street but abruptly moved out earlier this summer. Also, living here the boys grandparents who arrived home to get the tragic news. If the twoyearold did get a gun, neighbors want to know how. Theres no reason to have a gun anywhere that any child could get a hold. Were not in, you know, the roughest area of philadelphia. Even then, you should not have a gun at your bedside or anywhere that a child could get. Loaded guns, you know what i mean, they should keep them locked up. Now it happened at the intersection of route 896 and submit bridge road. Police say a Chain Reaction crash caused a schoolbus with 18 students from the delaware First State Military Academy to hit a delivery truck. Medics took five students to christiana hospital for nonlife threatening injuries. The driver of the truck that police say caused the crash was ticketed for inattentive driving. The Middletown Township Council set to vote how a controversial new oil pipeline will go through their town. Neighbors say one bad move could actually mean disaster. For residents here in middletown township, Delaware County, that is a giant highpressure liquid gas pipeline that would run quite literally through some peoples backyards and despite some heavy opposition, it is closer to reality. Doesnt seem to be a clear answer to get my children out of school within five minutes and that scares the hell out of me. Reporter residents filling middletown township chambers afraid of a cross state High Pressure gas pipeline called the mariner two east. The 20inch, 350mile pipe would pump millions of gallons of liquid propane and butane across pennsylvania to a sunoco refinery in marcus hook. In the heart of middletown township, elementary schools, the park would be incinerated. Not only a resident but also an aircraft engineer who worked on the nasa space program. Hes among the residents who paid for a private study distributed tonight to township officials. They say the study reveales a pipeline break could mean a major explosion or release of noxious gas that is would just take minutes to reach populated neighborhoods around places like the franklin mint, Glenwood Elementary School and riddle memorial hospital. Theres nothing like this through a densely populated area. Anywhere. Would they do this through new york city . Not chance. Reporter middletown township officials told residents the pipeline most likely cant be stopped since the project is considered a utility. Now officers locked down the academy Cabrini University and Eastern University campuses after a student called 911 saying she heard gunshots.
