But first breaking news tonight in philadelphias cobbs creek neighborhood. Shots fired by police after they say a man slashed a childs throat and then attacked several others. Reporter lucy, police are calling this a rampage. Lets take you live to the scene here where its still extremely active. Authorities combing the scene here. They tell us it started about 7 00 oclock this evening when Police Responded to a call for people shot along the 6200 block of hazel. Lets go to that video we have for from you that scene. When Police Arrived they found eightyearold with his throat slashed. 15 Year Old Girl who had also been assaulted, an 13yearold boy who had also been stabbed. All turned out police say that it was the father of the eight and 15yearold that may have hurt them. Police got the information about that suspect and then they came over to this area of cobbs creek where they believed he might have been headed. Lets go to that video now from that scene. Now, police say they saw a man coming out of a house here in cobbs creek. They confronted that man. And they actually say he had his hand in his pock. They told him to take his hasnt out of the his pock. They say he quote abruptly took his hand out of the his pocket when up to nine officers opened fire and discharged their guns all according to commissioner ross. They fired multiple times according to commissioner ross. That man was pronounced dead later at the hospital. Now, 70yearold woman and a 42yearold woman Family Friends of the suspect apparently he had come here to their house and had been led into their house. They were also injured but with only minor injuries. Span in his 30s and commissioner ross says he was possibly high on some kind of a drug. Right now back here live at the scene police are still searching the area here in cobbs creek for any weapons. Right now they did recover several knives they believed may have been used in this stabbing, however, they have not yet found a gun. Remember thats the initial report that came in that this man had a weapon. However, when that eightyearold and 13yearold were taken to childrens hospital, thats when doctors realized they hadnt been shot at all they had actually been stabbed. Now those two children right now in Critical Condition we are told. Police say that theyre hoping those children pull through, again, the suspect now he is dead. He was shot several times by police. Commissioner ross says theyre still investigating how many shots were fired by police. Yeadon people gathered to night five days after someone murdered a mom. So far no arrests leaving her family without answers as they grapple with what has happened. She spoke to her entire neighborhood about the brutal murder of her mother on this very street. Meanwhile, Yeadon Police are still asking for the publics help in finding her killer. Before that investigators believe he shot and killed his own father. Heres what we know right now. The gunfire started just before 2 00 this afternoon outside to townville Elementary School. Police say the teen fired several shots. Two students were hit. They were both boys and one female teacher. One of those students identified as jacob hall is still in the hospital tonight in Critical Condition. It was a volunteer firefighter 30yearold jamie brock hooks police say tackled that shooter to the ground. That person, individual, you know, be willing to confront him as far as why he didnt get off more shots i can only say at this point is because he was confronted probably. Police say the shooter never made it inside the school. Officers later found the shooters father dead inside their family home. Authorities have now charged a father in the death of his twoyearold son. They say nicholas wileys negligence led to the shooting death of Benjamin Austin smith earlier this month. Police say wiley and his young son were at his pans home in milford township when the toddler somehow got his hands on his fathers loaded handgun. The child apparently pulled the trigger and shot himself in the chest. The District Attorney says benjamin may have thought it was just a toy gun. This was an unintentional death certainly, but if youre going to leave a loaded gun out there for your little twoyearold son to grab and this is the result, thats no accident.
