For philadelphias oldest new years tradition. It sure has. Thousands are expect to do crowd city streets this sunday morning for the 116th new years day mummers parade, and preparations for the big bash are already impacting a whole lot of people. Good evening, im dawn timmeney. Im chris oconnell. Among the preparations load road closures. Fox 29s brad sattin live in center city with that story. Brad. Reporter chris, right by city hall theres ice skating going on to my left. Everywhere else big trailers like the one beside me and then on that side as well really doing a lot of parking restrictions as a result. Tomorrow some of these lanes around city hall are going to be closed as you work your way down broad street on sunday, of course, thats the route of the parade no driving down that way. If you are coming to watch the parade, your best bet really is to take septa f youre in the parade, chances are you were practicing tonight. If this werent a clear enough sign the mummers parade is just over day away barriers up and parking restrictions taking effect around city hall, heres another last minute practice underway in the darkness and cold under the i95 bridge. South side shooters looking for some new years day laughs. Reporter 10,000 dedicated mummers hoping to put last years troubles that include add few racist and homophobic acts behind them. I think they do so much for the community a lot of that is is overlook. The mummers are a good group of hardworking people. It is cold out there. Earlier today some places saw snow. What does that mean as we head into the new year . Meteorologist Scott Williams here now with the answer. Scott . Hi there, dawn. Certainly blustery and cold for your friday across the area but temperatures during the upcoming weekend will actually be on the rise. So that will be some good news but look at ultimate doppler right now. Pretty dry and quiet but earlier during the day we saw some of those snowplower reince also the cold winds. Winds were gusting up to 30 miles an hour across parts of the area. Still a little wind out there but look at those temperatures. Were looking at temperatures in Atlantic City, 34. North and west already at or below freezing. 31 in pottstown. Freezing currently in allentown. So look at the feels like temperature when you factor in that wind. It is cold. It feels like 26 in philadelphia. Feels like 12 right now in the poconos. So for the overnight temperatures dip into the 20s, but not as cold for tomorrow. Mid 40s philadelphia. Also, parts down the shore. One person is dead tonight after a crash in medford township, new jersey. Police say three ambulances took people from the scene about 6 00 oclock tonight. It was at route tent and there was road where this crash happened much the not clear how many people were injured in the two car accident. Please confirm the surviving victims are at cooper trauma center. Police are trying to figure out what caused the deadly accident crash. As 2016 comes to an end a north Philadelphia Community is gathering to remember the year and pay tribute to the countless victims of gun violence. Tonights vigil bringing together neighbors who want piece back in their street. Their message is very powerful and very emotional. Fox 29s Shawnette Wilson joins us from Philadelphia Police headquarters now with the story. Shawnette. Reporter well, dawn and chris, this is the second year this north philly family has held this vigil. They say that murders have increased since last year making their mission to call for peace even more important. Homicides in philadelphia its too much. Tiffany knows the pain of lose a loved one. Her brother was murdered four years ago. Shes one of a few dozen people who came out tonight for a vigil in north philly. Keep doing it every year. It might not cure the pain ever but it can help them. It can help them. Ease they pain more and more and more. Reporter mark and his family organized the vigil held near 16th and susquehanna streets. Its the second year theyve hosted it to get the Community Together to remember those lost to gun violence and to promote peace. Were here to bring unity, you know what i mean. Thats the bottom line of it. To bring unity. Bottom line this. Reporter several people spoke expressing their heart ache and calling for an end to the violence. Some signed posters with the names of people murdered in philadelphia. Terry runs a Crisis Center near 16th lehigh he put ice this casket with the sign all lives matter it represents a 16yearold boy who was killed after leaving the center which serves as safe place for kids to escape the violence of the streets. We lost four of our kids to gun violence. Jew kwan was over the weekend he got shot twice in the head after he left our center. Kids should be able to play in the street. Violence going on its like wild like. People still not figuring it out. Still not trying to get it is heartbreaking. Raw steen vow to continue hosting the vigil until change happens. To bring the Community Together and also to remember all of those who lost someone to the streets. Called survival, yall. Tonight fire investigators are trying to figure out what started this house fire in bristol township, bucks county. Skyfox over the unit block of red cedar drive where flames broke out around 7 00 oclock this morning. You could see smoke pouring out of the roof. No injuries were reported. The bill cosby Sexual Assault trial could move out of montgomery county. Today the Cosby Legal Team asking a judge for a change in venue for the high high profile trial. The defense says theres been quote a uniquely tainted press coverage in montgomery county, and they dont think the comedian will get a fair trial there. District attorney kevin steele says he will not oppose a change of venue for the trial which is set to start next june. Tonight Philadelphia Police are searching for three men in connection with a violent gas station robbery in the crescen crescentville second of the city. Police releasing this Surveillance Video today of the men beating a 19yearold man outside a sunoco gas staying it happened last friday on the 400 block of cheltenham avenue. Police say the suspects beat and punched the victim to the ground and then took his cell phone. The victim was treated at the hospital for facial swelling. Mourners gather to do say their goodbyes to an 81yearold Grocery Store owner who was gunned down one week ago on Christmas Eve morning. Todays funeral for marie buck comes one day after police made an arrest in her murder. A murder that has shattered the community. Foxs Joanne Pileggi has the story from south philadelphia tonight. The community saying goodbye to one of its own at a church which has provide add place of solace and worship for italian immigrants since the mid 19th century. I pray for the family and shes looking down on them. You hear stories about somebody being so great. She was. Youngyearold marie buck eulogized this morning. Aunt marie to everyone she was a beloved corner grocer for 44 years. Buck was killed saturday as she stood in her store a crime that gripped the neighborhood and city. You just have to grieve. Its going to take a long time. Its going to take a very long time. Reporter police now say 31yearold Maurice Green went to the store looking for bucks grandson. Green who has a lengthy rap sheet claimed bucks grandson stole jewelry from him and owed him money. Cops say he shot marie buck 11 times. Its awful and like i said im praying for them every day. I can never imagine going through this. Reporter at the funeral, the priest asked all to remember their faith and try to hold all good memories because maries faith and belief in god was strong. At the heart of my aunt she loved the church. She had a very strong faith and i believe that, you know, she was there with us and watching over us. She was just a star. My mom was a very, very wonderful woman. A very loved woman. I want this to live on right now for my mom. I know she sees this and i know this makes her very proud and very happy. And i just love her. Everybody loved her. Reporter well everyone in the community loved marie buck, and its a shame because the family still has to endure all of the trauma and pain of a criminal trial. Today the Pennsylvania Supreme Court says it will not hear an appeal by three pennsylvania families. They are trying to stop the mariner two pipeline project from taking their pipeline. It will move millions of gallons of liquid gas from western pennsylvania to a facility in marcus hook delaware county. Good news your drivers in south philadelphia. Columbus boulevard is back open. Its been 10 days since a water main break shut down part of the road. The city says all of the work is finally done and all traffic lanes are open again. Investigators say the women deliberately went into the wawa on 16th street last night to throw a large cup of coffee on three workers behind the deli.
