Sixyearold ties who has yall palsy to get around he absolutely needs the specially fitted wheelchair. The family is now pleading, pleading for help to find it. For someone to do that is breaks my heart, when someone messes with an innocent child. Posted about the incident on facebook hoping someone will come forward. Post has seen thousands of shares and now police are investigating. Well it is a crime that left the city stunned. Someone leaves a bomb on a mans doorstep. He opens it. It explodes in his face. The new details investigators are learning about the center city bomber. Kathy orr is tracking that forecast of yours. Oh, yeah. That jet stream thats been to our north is going to continue to lift northward and we are going to see a surge of warmer air in the Delaware Valley feeling much more like spring than winter. Well take look at those numbers with the seven day. Ttp www. Ev] investigators have dna, video of the crime parts of the weapon used to carry out the bombing but still no suspect but investigators are still searching for the person who delivered a package that exploded in a mans face. Tonight fox 29 investigates is on the trail of the pine street bomber. Dave schratwieser reports. Reporter when a package bomb went off in jim aldens face back in november, it stunned the city and touched off a manhunt for the suspected bomber. To try to hurt somebody like this, basically building a device that can kill, injure or maim, somebody thats very dangerous. He needs to be off the streets. Were fortunate we didnt have fatality first and for mo most. More people werent injured. Reporter the explosion blew off parts of the 60yearold aldens fingers and sprayed snap nel all over his upper body and face. Neighbors in the building next door described the explosion. The blast was just up to the right of my window. Very loud. What was going on in your mine at that point. Its a bomb. Reporter investigators swarmed the scene collecting evidence analyzing the bombs components and came up with the conclusion this was personal attack targeting alden. There was an envelope, pattered envelope and upon it being opened by the victim, it detonated. I can tell you it is out of the norm. Its not something we typically see here in this region. We cant have an individual setting off devices aimed at basically maiming or killing an individual. Thats absolutely unacceptable. Reporter alden who works at this south Philadelphia Catering Company was interviewed by Police Looking for some clues as to who might have done this. They combed the area and recovered lots of Surveillance Video of the person they believe delivered the explosive device to aldens doorstep. They also believe whoever built the bomb new exactly what they were doing. I would have to say that do you have to have some kind of expertise or some kind of background in it. In other words, a novice would probably not be able to put Something Like this together. Fox 29 has now learned that investigators uncovered video from at least 20 different cameras that picked up the bomber en route to the crime seen and making his get away. The bomber walk the exact same streets to and from the bomb site. We have the video footage depicting the individual walking blocks and blocks up and back. Bizarre behavior. Reporter sources say detectives first picked up the bombers trail on camera the third and Spring Garden in Northern Liberties. He walked block after block over 2 miles carrying the bomb in his shoulder bag until he reach aldens home in the 1800 block of pine street and left the package with the improvised explosive device inside. You see that level of focus, i mean its almost scary. That someone would be so hell bent on harming someone. Reporter from aldens home, video shows the person of interest go west on pine to 19th, south to lombard and then east. Again he walked block after block in full view of surveillance cameras. The trail led right back to third and Spring Garden where this Fire Department camera caught the last glimpse of the person disappearing up third street. We eventually put him in the area in the neighborhood of Northern Liberties. But thats just took a tremendous amount of followup investigation. Trying to figure out where this person came from. Most importantly who is he . Reporter sources also say bomb experts recovered a crucial dna sample from the exploded device. They have asked at least a dozen people for dna samples since the investigation started. So far, none have turned up a match. We got to be able to point it towards someone. It doesnt match very well identify the individual. Reporter police and postal officials also flooded Northern Liberties with these flyers showing the person of interest. Give us a call. Maybe it will be that lead that we need. I feel extremely confident that were going to be able to apprehend this individual. Reporter sources also say the victim and his partner have been cooperative with the investigation. They know of no reason why anyone would want to harm alden. All potential motives remain on the table. There is no clear cut motive. We look at everything. All of us. We dont want anyone else harm. We have to reason to believe that anyone else would be targeted but you just never kn know. Reporter there was a rhee return address on the package but that address turn out to be bogus. Parts of the bomb are still being analyzed at the atf lab as investigators try to determine where those components came from and who might have sold them to the bomber. After that, what we call a bermuda high will be setting up and this is the summer like pattern i was talking about. High pressure off to coast pumping up some mild air.
