It happened last night around 7 30 along the 300 block of normal horton street in west philadelphia. Investigators tell us officer responding to reports of a shooting found 22yearold hakeem is a bore shot in the head. The officers rushed him to Presbyterian Hospital where he died. They found his puppy right near him on a front porch unharmed. No word yet on a motive. Prosecutors have now charged three women with the beating murder of a homeless man outside an olney gas station earlier this year. Surveillance cameras captured the attack on the 5500 block of north fifth street in april. 51yearold Robert Barnes was in a coma for several months after the beating he died in november. Guillard, joaquin and duggan now face murder charges. The second time in less than month, vandals hit cars along one lawndale street now police need your help tracking down the man they say is behind it. After reviewing records showing philly police shoot someone on average once a week, with one in five of those people unarmed, the doj told cops to fix a broken system. Issuing 91 recommendations to improve everything from officer training to handling of High Pressure interactions to more professionally investigating when things go wrong. Six months later, the feds say 90 of those recommended fixes are complete. Partly complete or in progress. Ronald davis heads the Justice Departments office of Community Oriented policing services.
