New jersey state trooper sean cullen was just 31 years old when he died in the line of duty last week. The days weather added to the somber tone. Sean cullen had served in several local south Jersey Police departments before joining the new Jersey State Police in 2014. He died last tuesday after being struck by a car while investigating an accident scene on i295 in west deptford. Youve got to be that type of person who will run into the situation that everybody else is running away from. Trooper cullen unfortunately died in the line of duty but doing what he loved doing. Reporter sean cullen was more than a state trooper. He was part of a family with parents, siblings a fiance and a nine month old son shamus. His jennifer call him firecracker. inaudible . Reporter cullen was based out of the bellmawr barrack a cops cop but also a guy who could light up a room with his sense of humor. His commander called him a character. Suggested that memories of the cullens antics might help ease his pain. Today is our day to be strong. Well have our time to mourn. He was a young man in Delaware County described as always smiling and now friends and family are wondering what led to their friend seemingly senseless death. 28yearold maryland Police Officer jacai colson was shot and killed outside a landover Police Station sunday afternoon as three men ambushed officers. Since that time, those who new him have been sharing the high quality individual that he was. An incredible student athlete, um, the kind of kid you always wanted to coach, the well liked, well mannered, raced right by great people. We lost a great kid. Reporter officer colson was serving in maryland but had deep ties to the philadelphia area. He grew up in boothwyn, played basketball and football at Chichester High School and maintained several close friend ships. School officials who new him said the community lost a great young man. 20 plus years you go through a lot of kids, and when you hear Something Like this it just it just punches you right in the stomach. Its a shame. He was a great kid. I cant say enough about him and his family. Reporter officer colsons commitment serving others also originated in the boothwyn chichester area his grandfather james was a 40 year veteran of the Chichester Police department and friends say officer colson was inspired by his grandfather.
