We also found that rescue efforts were underway trying to rescue the people who were not able to get out. We know that one firefighter suffered from minor exhaustion. That firefighter is okay. Weather conditions, though, made this fire hard to control. The weather conditions did play a role we did have a small woods fire that extended from the actual house fire the guys were in the process of mopping that up as well as the house fire. The dry weather plays a factor and of course were not used to these temperatures right now. Its 82 degrees out here as we stand. Reporter indeed it was a warm one and again that wind blowing that fire to some nearby woods as you saw and heard there there. At this scene the blacks bridge fire scorched 45 acres. Full al third of that from burning embers being blown on to fresh fuel and igniteing. Firefighters set back fires to control the blaze. Everything is black inside that line and then that means that its not going to burn again. Its not going to blair of into flare up and try to make run at the fire line. Reporter its got no fuel lately. Exactly. Severing burned up. Only one residential area the Country Lakes neighborhood was win a mile of the fire. Fire fighting personnel advise theres no threat to residential areas. Reporter the pemberton Township Office of the Emergency Management sent out a reverse 911 call around 8am to alert residents like chris thompson. Hes been through this before on the day he moved into this neighborhood five years ago flames stopped at the end of his block. Little nerve racking for time time. The flashing lights of emergency vehicles and hard work of First Responders shut down the northbound stretch of the northeast extension for four hours less than 5 miles south of the Lehigh Valley exit. Pa state police say a bock truck rear end add tractor trailer halting scores of drivers in place. Traffic at a stand till for miles. Were learning how many to upstate new york. With an idea of what to expect. Hey, scott. Hi, lucy. Yes, beautiful weather here on this monday. Hard to believe last week we were stuck in the 50s and 60s. We almost went straight from spring to summer. Folks have been out and about elfresco dining perhaps youll throw something on the grill this evening it is the perfect weather to do that although the pollen count is a little lie. Lets focus on the temperatures want we saw today. 83 degrees right now. Humidity is low. So we still have that wildfire danger. So just keep that in mind as far as conditions being kind of tender dry but look at the temperatures across the area. 83 philadelphia right now. 83 in allentown. When i come indoor the one day this week to expect rain as well as slightly cooler temperatures. Back to you. All right. See you soon, scott. New jerseys medical marijuana laws have been criticized for both delays and implementation and conflicts within the law. A local family says theyre experiencing those issues first hasnt. Fox 29 weekends Bill Anderson spent time with a young woman whose parents say her health is limbo because her school wont let her take the medical marijuana she did he say desperately needs. Reporter today i met 16yearold jenny barber of maple shade, new jersey. She deals daily with challenges of both epilepsy and autism. So in new jersey finally approved medical marijuana for children her family was beyond ecstatic and they saw immediate improvement. Everybody who saw her said oh, my god look at john feature they would look in her eyes and they would see more of an understanding somebody there. Whereas before on the other epileptic drugs she was zombie. Reporter jenny takes a special cannabis oil that doesnt get her high. But she ran into trouble when dr. Prescribed a dose to be taken during the school day. We were stunned no discussion folded their arms, no. Reporter the prescribed medication that they say jenny desperately needs is legal in new jersey, but illegal nationally so technically to bring it on to School Grounds is a federal offense. Federal law says its illegal illegal. New jersey law says its not. Yet children can take their oxycontin vicodin valium whatever they need in school and my daughter cant take medical marijuana. So we think its a violation of the law in terms of her equal protection under the constitution. Reporter barbers told me they were forced to sue the Maple Shade School district because their daughter is being denied the medication she needs to combat the painful and damaging seizures she experiences when she doesnt take the medical marijuana. Pinching, kicking screaming and yelling and literally trying to hurt people. When she gets her fourth dose of medical marijuana all of those bad behaviors are gone. Reporter School District attorneys say they cant just ignore the law and allow the medical marijuana to be taken on School Grounds so the legal battle in politicking will continue. Meanwhile people like johnny are forced to deal with the consequences. Fox 29 Weather Authority now. It is warm out there. We went right from spring to summer and im just fine with that. Yeah. I loved it out there. Didnt need to hes in. Exactly. First time i didnt bring coat in today. Wow that does say something. This is iain weather. Iain is happy a lot of folks are happy that temperatures are above average. But it is a little fast considering last friday temperatures were in the 50s and low 60s across the area. So it has been quite the temperature turn around. I mean 70 is the normal for this time of year. The high today 85 degrees. The warmest of the year so far and the record thats still save 91 degrees set back in 2001. But look at the temperatures across the area. Still in the low 80s. Theyll be slow to fall this evening. 81 right now in trenton. We have 80 in pottstown. 81 wilmington. 82 right now in dover. A little cooler down the shore because of that sea breeze. But the high temperatures, the low humidity and the wind, we still have that red flag warning in effect until 8 00 oclock tonight. All of southeastern pennsylvania, all of the state of new jersey. So just be mindful of that sparks cigarettes fires just dont do it. As we take look at those wind gusts right now, you can see winds out of the south and west gusting to 26 Miles Per Hour in philadelphia. Gusting close to 30 Miles Per Hour in atlantic city. So how dry is it . Take look at the relative humidity. Stuck in the low and mid 20s. Pretty much area wide across the area. So its been more of a dry heat across our area today. High pressure out in the open waters of the atlantic. You get that clockwise know so winds coming in out of the south and west out ahead of our next chance for rain a front off to the west meaning temperatures well above average today. So dry conditions for do night. Tomorrow well watch that front approach. Tomorrow afternoon north and west watching a broken line of some scattered showers by the afternoon and evening commutes tomorrow will well be watching that front move through perhaps lingering showers and clouds into the first part of the day on wednesday. Wednesday will be the coolest day of the week with highs stum stuck in the low 70s. And then temperatures rebound for the latter part of the week. Not only heating up the temperatures but later on this week the tropics. We have that bermuda high out to the east and then well watch an area of low pressure develop off the florida coast and also move toward the carolinas by the latter part of the week. It could be a subtropical system system. Meaning its not quite tropical but certainly it could produce rain and rough rip currents along sections of the carolina coast. Well have to watch that for the latter part of the week. But look at the seven day forecast. 85 tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon watching for scattered showers and storms. And then, cooler for wednesday. Low 70s. Back into the 80s though, for thursday. Friday, moving toward mothers day weekend. 86 saturday. 87 degrees on sunday. And we keep the 80s into early next week. Beautiful. I love when the seven day only has the low 72. Nice. There you go. Howard eskin. 87 is too high. All right. Next step by the eagles after the draft are the mini cams. One of the vets talked about what the new players do for the players currently on the team. And is it the end, is it coming for fan favorite of the phillies . Thats all coming up in sports. Well now that the draft is over well have to talk about the phillies. Phillies laughter . Im sorry. I couldnt help myself. The phillies open series again the Atlanta Braves tonight on the road. So far on this trip the phillies have lost five of seven but thats not a shock. Pitching to night for the phillies is their best starter believe it or not aaron harang. Twotwo. Best era to the staff coming off his worse outing last game against st. Louis. Giving up five runs in six innings. Ryan howard not starting that name darrin ruf is batting cleanup. One other people killing the phillies right now chase utley has had a horrible season so far. For some question whether hes close to done. I mean think about that. Chase is hitting. 108. Utley is making big money too. He make 15 million this season with a good chance he has an option which is likely to kick in for next season. And possibly the season after that. Another 15 and 15 million. All right. Hes hitting. 108 but the staggering numbers hes hitting. 0069 the last 16 games. He has all of four hits in his last 58 at bats with only homerun. And hitting third in the lineup is a big reason the phillies are not scoring runs. The question that some are asking, so is u
