Reporter hey, we just got back from a ride along with Camden County police when they hit the road to take a look for any distracted drivers on the road. Now, they say, this is the first of its kinds departmentwide initiative to crackdown on distracted drivers. Officers like ten to the kind of dui checkpoints, that we often see. Now, Camden County police call it a quality of life concern. And they say, crackdowns like this, three week statewide enforcement effort, are important to keep drivers focused, on staying off their phones. People will become jaded and numb to their every day practices and habits. You have to realize that this is a city, and we have children, and pedestrians who are out playing and walking, and youre driving a vehicle that is weighing thousands of pounds. So, once youre distracted, now, youre no longer in proper control of that vehicle. And thats exactly why officers want to make sure safety is the top priority for drivers when they hit the road.
