Thank goodness. You had it in the right order, are you okay, check, check. I will say this, it is the beginning of the end, of this event. It is still snowing out there in many places but we are seeing the beginning of the end, if you can delay your trip, at all, i would do so, until the snow end and until they can get roads cleaned up but you can see we have band of snow moving through, our northern and western suburbs. It is not out just yet, if you are in berks county, if you are in the northern part of the montgomery, or chester, or bucks county, it is still snowing and it is still snowing a long the jersey shore. More details on where it is snowing there National Weather service has lift aid few Winter Weather advisory once in philadelphia, delco, chester, montgomery still in effect until 6 00 a. M. In south jersey. Heres winter wet ther advisory, winter storm watch for tomorrow, for southern new jersey, and southern delaware. More on that come up as well. Bus stop buddy, bus stop buddy , slippery start this morning. That is right. Was that a combination of bus stop and bob kelly. It is i want to go home. Okay. I wish you told me i could take extra time and hit the Snooze Button before i got out of bed. It is friday snow day, heres a live look at the mess on i95, southbound, i remains closed between academy and cot hand, what was sitting here was a jackknife tractor trailer. All force on academy and taking frankford avenue as an alternate. Heres a live look at ben franklin bridge. Everything is either wet, slushy or snow covered. We are first ones out, were the trailblazers here. I had a lot of new friend in wawa because of the ren gate snowplow guys were filling up their gas tank and their coffee cups, getting out there , to try to clear out a lot of the parking lots. Heres a live look from delaware route one and 272, so again, road conditions, are going to change, dramatically depending upon where you begin , and end your trip. Now heres some dash cam pictures sent by one of our viewers, route 413, up here in bucks county, snow covered, and so again, the the crews are out there, i was behind salt train plow, that is not a plowable operation but putting salt down and just amazing to watch the frustration have of folks trying to tailgate, trying to get around this salt truck. Etan democrat tractor trailer trying to get around the the salt trucks this morning, crazy, the schuylkill expressway, again, salt crews, the reduced sue said give yourself some extra time or, delay that trip, if you can, and expect delays, on all of our buses, trains, trolleys, Regional Rails. Not so much your normal, weather delays but the platforms, the steps are going to be slippery, it is not a good wear your new high heels kind of day but wear those boots, whatever you got for christmas, pull them out, modified service on amtraks northeast corridor this morning. Again, expect weather delays, path the co, new Jersey Transit and dart, everything will be a little bit slower than normal but hey, it is a friday snow day, karen and thomas back to you. We have these, problems, you mentioned this one, in fact we have a jackknife tractor trailer shutting down all southbound lanes of i95 between academy and cot hand. The lets get out to jenny joyce with what we know right now, jenny. Reporter cottman avenue, and academy just a parking lot here along i95, and when we passed backup heading north bound we saw several people outside their cars trying to see what is going on, taking pictures, walking around. The these people have been stuck for over an hour now. Tractor trailer jackknifed on the highway a little bit before 2 00 a. M. , close to two hours this morning. It is one of the multiple accidents reported on i95, on our way here we saw an accident, a car smashed up and turned around in a northbound lanes, near the aramingo exit. That crash didnt cause any backups, but if you are seeing this report and heading out the door for the time being avoid i95 southbound in the area of cottman and academy. Maybe even a little bit further north then that were seeing back ups, continues here, for the time being on our way here we did see a tow truck so we know they are working on clearing this scene but for now this stretch of i95 is simply a parking lot as you can see, karen and thomas. Compounding the matters right there, thank you very much, we appreciate it. They have a tease he will fuel spill that they have to get that mess cleaned up as well. That will delay that further. Thank you. Thomas in. Certainly doesnt take much as you saw there. Heres what it looked like last night in wilmington at the height of the snowfall. Crews were out there, they got a quick jump on the slick roads. Even though we told you it was es not a major event, shoppers flocked to the local Grocery Store to stock up on the essentials. So, we are following your Winter Weather authority here after a first snowfall of the season. We head out to steve keeley in maple shade, what are you going through this morning, steve. Reporter still shady, out, by the way, thomas for a couple more hours, and, i want to show you something, for once, this may be first time in Television News history nobody hyped up a minor snowstorm, so we had no panic buying. Maybe at Grocery Store you just talked about but look, usually when there is any measurable snow the snowblowers here at lowes mapel will shade sellout. We were here just a few weeks ago and they are all still lined up, all still available, all still snow covered. Maybe in our headlights you can see sue serio if you are wondering how it is snowing over here, lot a the light, fluffy flakes, it was really coming down just a half an hour ago and now you can just see it looks like n theat in the summertime that we see usually. And, the guys were here in the parking lot with us, from eric s nursery they salted this stuff down and that is why parking lot is clear but strange thing was i have been up since 1s i went out to clear my car, my sidewalk wasnt sticking. And then i came back out, later and sidewalk was sticking, so i thought was a strange phenomenon because i had about an inch of snow. The yard, then i had another inch. You will find this funny, a little inside fox 29 news, thomas and karen you know how bruce gordon writes those angry emails. Wait until i talk, follow me i am wills with george, we have to relearn everything. He writes these angry emails when he gets caught in the rain. Right. We have no snow brush, and no demonstration like difficult before but i will use my hand. I do have gloves. But there is a coating of ice, do you like those nails. There is a coating of ice under the fluffy snow so take your time and get out early and get this car cleared. The drive will not clear your car. We have seen people attempting to do that. People were hoping, light and fluffy, inch or two, it will clear. So no. I will give our viewers a peak inside our truck. We have everything inside this truck but again, alert bruce gordon in case you will use this truck. What number is this. Fifteen. Reporter still no umbrella in this truck. We have first aid kit, fire extinguisher, but no snow, we dont have blue stuff for windshield, no scrapers but none of the blue stuff either. We will be buying that. Look at this, i cannot even open up this door. Heres how we will clear this windshield. This industrial hair dryer. George, what is this for. For the mast if it freezes because it is hydraulic. I think mike jerrick has this at home. Mass heat gun. This is how, i may clear those before we leave with this heat gun, how about that, i can probably melt the glass with this. We have that, weve got the blue masking tape if we need blue masking tape, a spare tire but again, no snow scraper, no brush and alert bruce gordon and Shawnette Wilson no umbrella. So thank you, again for everybody by the way, yes, so we will get salt since all of the salties on the road it will go on the windshield and im sure that thing where you hit the windshield wiper thing and get blue stuff on the windshield that will use up before we get to voorhees and then we will be out having that coating of salt on windshield so we wont see. It will be a fun morning, join us, by the way, sue, i know you call this a nuisance event and people out hearsay what can we expect. I said they are calling it a nuisance event, kind of like a general fredrick live shot, short, and there is life on the other side . The wheels have come off, all right. 4 10 in the morning. Steve keeley, thank you so much. That is why they give you the jacket, that fox 29 jacket you have to go old school and use your elbow. Rare form,. All right. It is a friday. Let tell but Something Else affecting a whole lot of people and that is a water main break can you imagine having it if this weather in this cold. They are trying to fix tonight northeast philadelphia it all happened yesterday afternoon at 1 30 at millbrooke road, water gushing into a half dozen homes, and basements, now they did get it under control about five and a half hours later around 6 00 oclock. People there said there has been a metal plate covering that area since last spring. It started out as a Little Sinkhole and then went into a massive sinkhole. It took months before the Water Company came out to check it. Were getting snow on top of all this. So they need to move fast. All that stuff froze and in their basement. They have a mess. Fifty people there still have water shut off and they are making repairs. Their gas is shut off. So they have got a problem on their hand. If you need to get ready for work or school and cant be near your tv watch us from your phone, tablet or computer down load our fox 29 app, go to the Google App Store or i tunes store. We are looking at the radar. Most of it has moved out. Right, there are a few snow band still left, there is about an inch to 3 inches of snow on the ground already. We will get you ready for the morning and tell you about possibility of storm number two coming up, bob. There may not have been a scraper in the truck but we have one here in the toasty warm studios of fox 29. Wilmington, 95, 495, slower speeds then normal willal. Who want to go someplace warm . Me. We are looking live at philly international. We will check with the airport , buses, trains, trolleys, grab a cup of coffee and we will meet you back here in two and a half. coughs that cough doesnt sound so good. Well i think you sound great. Move over. Easy booger man. Take mucinex dm. Itll take care of your cough. Fine ill text you in 4 hours when your cough returns. One pill lasts 12 hours, so. Looks like im good all night ah david, please, listen. Still not coughing. Not fair you guys waffles are my favorite ah some cough medicines only last 4 hours. But just one mucinex lasts 12 hours. Start the relief. Ditch the misery. Lets end this. This is what you are dealing with today a light coating of snow, maybe an inch , 2 inches in most places is what were seeing and temperatures that are at or below treeing, which is why we will start with a temperature map before we take a look at radar. Because, any untreated surface is bound to be slippery with 30 degrees in philadelphia, 26 in lancaster. Eighteen mount pocono. Thirtytwo in dover, 32 in wildwood. These are temperatures that are very cold, very slippery conditions, out there, even as the snow end we will be dealing with that and heres what we have got, we have a band of snow stretching from upstate new york, down through allentown and just north of philadelphia, that is still set to come through and then the band thats affecting jersey shore and central delaware. We will zoom in closer and it is still snowing well in allentown, Upper Providence in montgomery county, warminster this bucks county, that other delaware, to the north of us, Atlantic City is snowing, it looks like throughout Cape May County we are seeing december rens snow tall where we see darker blue, and then we move down to milford delaware, seaford and dover it is snowing lightly right now. So that is adding to the totals and adding to the slipperiness. Plus in those band of snow we have got Poor Visibility trying to drive through two and a half miles in Atlantic City, reduced visibility at philly international. It is not too bad, it is not really fog just because of the snow that is falling and this is out of here over the next hour or so. We will see the last couple have of snowflakes, and then we will deal with the slippery conditions as everything gets cleaned up, we will eventually get some sunshine today, included will linger to the south of us and then we will start to worry about storm number two. This one really will hug the coast. This is a southern storm moving to the north and it looks like effects will be felt Sussex County delaware and lower two counties of new jersey. How much we will get . There is a possibility of decent accumulation there is as well. We will focus more on that once were sure were through with this one. We will get to 34 degrees for a high today, and then arctic air settles in over the weekend with a high of 26 degrees on saturday and sunday. Still below treeing, on monday , still but look at wednesday and thursday, bob kelly, then were up to 50 degrees. I can wear my shorts. Okay. Good morning everybody. 4 17. It is friday put another pop tart in the toaster hang tight for a while with us. Heres a live lot at i95. Solve these folks have been out here for well over an hour this is why we say make sure you have a full tank of gas during a snowstorm. You ever think any of these folks thought they would be stuck out in the middle of the night on i95, because of the jackknife tractor trailer that they are trying to clean up . They got the big rig out but there is a fuel spill now and that is impacted by obviously the snow, and then once they opened up this road it is a skating rink from here on down because the salt crews and volume has in the been there on i95 south. This is near academy road. If you have to get out right now heres a couple alternates southbound i95 jump off atwood haven, take that to the roosevelt boulevard or jump off at street road and just go old school down past the Police Academy, old Fish Hatchery and get on at cottman and that will get new to downtown. Speaking of downtown were closed on the vine street expressway, yep, crews work last night in the snow so no volume on the vine between the schuylkill and broad street same deal, when they opened up this road it will be a skating rink because they have to get that layer down. It is not a plowing operation, it is just a salt crew, salt crews have been out there i was behind one on my way in on the schuylkill, i sipped my coffee and watched it all happen, folks trying to jockey back and fourth, tailgating, it is a mess. Give the guys extra time. Heres a still picture of the delaware memorial bridge. All of the bridges have been salted. Fit looks wet it could be slippery. Maybe in the there black ice but that slush that creates, gets created from the salt could be just as slippery as well. Weather delays, expected delay today, down at philly international, so certainly check with the airline. Heres a picture, dash cam pick sent from one of our viewers of route 413, again folks getting out of the gate this morning. We are trailblazers, and the salt has to get down on the road, tires have to get turning and in there in order for us to see some results. I second delays on the Regional Rail lines. Up early with us is our friend from Janet Tidwell from triple a. Janet, good morning. Im doing great. You are probably in your pajamas calling from home. I will in the say, bob. That is okay, all right. Any tips you have for our viewers that are getting ready just like you are waking up with their coffee and jumping out. I showed thaw camera image of i95. Im always afraid of that being stuck on a major roadway like this in the middle of the night. You said it best no one ever plans to get stuck and it is so starting ought with a full tank of the gas is right way to go. And having an emergency kit passed in your car for the entire winter. So if you need, your ice scraper and snow brush the way steve does this morning, or you need an extra blanket, or gloves, you have that in an emergency. I know your crews are out there should any one within stuck, stranded or need assistance. What is a quick number that we could give you a buzz for some help. Reporter to call triple a our members can call 800 triple a help. Thanks so much for checking with us this morning. Thanks for your tips. Heres a live look, nice pretty shot the outside of our studios here on Market Street but that is an example of what the carries going to look like this morning, when you walk outside the front door, and you want to mack sure you get that snow, and whether it is just a dusting or whether it be an insurance cleared off of your windshield both front and back windshield, and the roof, as well, but it is a nice pretty scene in some spots but it will be a tricky morning rush hour. Karen and thomas back over to you. Never fun having that snow flying back at you. 4 21. A group of guys who robbed an elderly man are on the loose this morning. Certainly was a brazen Home Invasion robbery right in the middle of the afternoon in kensington. The these guys, used a roos to get him to open up his door. Once they did he burst right in. As our own bruce gordon reports this kind of violence is all too familiar. Reporter in the darkness earned ising the 3500 block of emerald street, richard nocow sky speaks through mail slot of his lock door. I realized that life is finite. Reporter you could have lost your life today. That is possible. Reporter just afternoon thursday, the 87 yearold former long time frankford high hat teacher says he had heard a knock on the doorman planning to represent the gas company and said he needed to come in and check out a leak. My life was threatened, four or five others came in and right down to the cellar and upstairs, asked where money was. Reporter he told me the attacker man handled him, threatened his life. If i didnt tell him where money was something would have happened to me. Reporter robbers got away with more than a thousand dollars in cash in an incident that shocks but does not surprise those who live around here. While on Emerald Police were called to the
