River bridge. Steve keeley along the shore this morning but we will begin with bob kelly, and sue serio. We have a lot to talk about. It will be a busy morning. Crazy. Obviously the stuff over weekend with the bridge. One thing you will feel is wind. I opened up the car door to get my coffee and wind took the car door, almost flying. I was on the turnpike yesterday and traffic, congestion, already so we will talk about that, bob thanks. My neighborhood i have dodged branches on the ground already and brunt of the storm isnt even here just yet so lets take a look what is happening. There is radar. You can see the storm bearing down on us, this is the same one that spawned those deadly tornadoes down south and there are some areas of heavy rain, they just havent arrived in our area just yet. We have light rain in ocean county, atlantic county, part of the Burlington County this morning but we are still waiting for heavy rain. High wind warning along the coast today, wind advisory for us in philadelphia and along i95 corridor and gale warnings off shore. Wind gusts already up to 28 miles an hour in philadelphia, we have 33mile an hour win gust in wilmington , delaware. 39 miles an hour in wildwood. 40mile an hour wind gust in Atlantic City, that is Tropical Storm force. Already. Like i said the storm isnt officially here just yet. 44 degrees in philadelphia, with those 28mile an hour gusts, sunrise at 7 16. Dont look for sunshine today this storm will be with us all day long. Thirtyfive in mount poke nest where we will to have eventually, tomorrow, watch for some frozen precipitation but this is a rain storm with a High Temperature in the mid 40s to today and wind driven rain all day long. Fog may roll in tonight. We will talk about that coming up, but it is two things you just got to watch out for today, bob kelly rain and wind. Definitely as i mentioned, you know, i felt both of them this morning. That is first thing you will feel is the wind when you step outside the front door. Our top story the pennsylvania turnpike new jersey turnpike, connect or bridge remains closed. That is bridge up here in bucks count that i connects both of the big turnpikes and it is going to cause major congestion at three of the other river crossings. Heres the turnpike bridgette self that is closed to vehicle traffic. The local traffic from the neighborhoods, well, of course , you have the option to use burlington bristol bridge but most of the traffic that comes over the turnpike are coming from either the pennsylvania or new jersey turnpike. A lot of tractor trailers use this stretch. All have of those vehicles have been pushed off using other alternates. We have a couple of options, if you are using the pennsy turnpike trying to get to new jersey, they are pushing everybody off at route one which is at philadelphia interchange to begin with and then then using route one up to i95, go over Scudders Falls and connect that with 295 away, yep, it looks like it is out of your way, and it is, it will add another easy 45 minutes for your trip for gang coming in from new jersey off of the new jersey turnpike , because you were most traffic flows in from those, they will push everybody off at exit number 7 a take 195 over toward either route one and then that will get you south down toward the philadelphia interchange. No matter how you shake it, it is a long commute, of course, rain will not help this morning. We had big delays last night, united, instituted a ground stop at 8 00 last night. They have lifted that. All flights are traveling again but expect delays down at philadelphia international, with the rain and the wind, certainly playing a factor today. Karen and thomas back to you. Thanks, bob. 4 04. The as bob and sue just mentioned noreaster expect to hit the shore the hardest, lets get to steve keeley along the shore this morning, hi there, steve. Reporter were not along the shore yet we are only in hammington we are 30 miles away from the shore likely wont get there until after 5 00. We are looking at a big american flag, just three days after the inaugural and look at it the blowing real good here on route 54 the main drag , between the Atlantic City expressway and the the white horse pike in hammington where we are heading next. Our man jared showing you some power lines. That is the big fear. It is kind of warm. Snow, ice not a factor and flooding may be a factor at the shore but big factor will be wind, and with the wind gusts expected to hit 60 miles an hour, at the shore, we are already seeing the warnings from the Power Companies that give all of the energy to the shore, Atlantic Electric says hey we have crews on stand by. We have extra crews from as far as baltimore if we need them in case these tree limbs start falling down in the power lines and knock electricity out. Heres our tip of the day if you are driving do not drive over power lines, and if a power line falls on your car the idea is not to get out of your car, wait will until help comes, your car is the most safe place to be. However, they do mention sometimes cars catch on fire people panic and they dont know what to do then. If you have to get out of the car, leap as far as possible. That sound like a joke in a way but it is not a joke, this happens occasionally. Is there our tip of the day, stay in a car if a power line is over your car and it is not causing a fire to your car. On a lighter note, we like these big storms with wind and rain because you know what that means for us, karen and thomas, it is car wash day at fox 29. This is when we watch our vehicles during downpours like this. Not just a car wash but a free car wash. Yes, thank you, steve. Whenever we have bad weather we have huge problems out the there on our road. And we have a big detour we are dealing w bob talking about it. Bridge connecting the new jersey and pennsylvania turnpike is it is now closed indefinitely. Lets get out to Lauren Johnson in bristol with the very latest on that mess, lauren. Reporter good morning to you, karen. Expect extreme delays in all Delaware River bridge crossing s, that is what officials are warning commut ers about this morning and double trouble because as sue mentioned we will have weather moving in. We are live on the pennsylvania turnpike and burlington bristol bridge which could see heavy volume this morning as an alternate the route for many commuters. Headache started on friday a crew painting turnpike bridge when they noticed a complete crack, that was not safe for 40,000 vehicles that crossed the bridge every weekday, it closed immediately for repair over the weekend, crews have worked to stabilize that bridge while engineers are engaging in a more permanent repair strategy, right now there is no date set to reopen we have not seen exactly how this will affect the week day morning commute just yet we will find out this morning but one truck driver says it will be a massive headache. Around here and bridge and weight limits will cause major problems for trucks to get in and out of new jersey, philadelphia and this one here came out of ohio on the way to trenton and now i have to go 10 miles further. Reporter bob kelly told us if the Truck Drivers that will be most affected by this, bad weather moving into our area will include strong wind, heavy rain which will make matters worse this morning so officials are asking if you have alternate options if you can use transit, car pool or even have the option to work from home today, today is the day to do that, karen and thomas. It is a major connection. Thank you, lauren. With the closure and weather fox 29 has you covered every step of the way. Stay with us for continuing coverage of the noreaster. You can get updates on your phone or more mobile devices on the the fox 29 app. The storm bringing our noreaster is the same system responsible for several tornadoes in the south. In georgia the governor has declared a state of emergency after the severe storms left at least 14 people dead. The fast moving storms destroyed dozens of homes all across the state as it brought down trees and power lines. At least one tornado has been confirmed in cook county, that is in the southern point of the state. Residents there say they will go on. Unaudible. Tornadoes were vicious, powerful, and strong, and they suffered greatly. So we will be helping out the state of georgia. Severe weather also hit mississippi, louisiana and texas over the weekend. Record rainfall is the problem, in southern california, the region there received nearly 4 inches of rain on sunday. Freeways were flooded and there are concerns about mud slide. Unfortunately more rain is expect today. Time is 4 09. The Republican Party will hold their joint retreat in the city this wednesday through friday. President s first meeting with lawmakers will be likely on thursday. Retreat will take place at low es hotel in center city. Time right now 4 11 on this very busy monday, we have had more violence at a mall. Shots ring out inside that mall. Absolutely senseless, absolutely senseless. Coming up on good day philadelphia what Officials Say led to that deadly rampage good morning, bob. Good morning, everybody 4 12. We are looking live down near philly international airport, delays on the roads, expected today, delays in the air, but the shore is going to go get the brunt of it. The lets say good morning to absecon, new jersey, we will have the rest of the forecast check jam cams and update on that bridge closure when we come right back. Welcome back. It is a gray start to this monday morning but we will have very severe wind gustness our area so the worst is most certainly yet to come. The lets check with sue with what we can expect. We aint seen nothing yet. Rain and wind, rain and wind but worst of the rain has not arrived just yet as you can see here on ultimate doppler radar. Energy from the southern storms is starting to transfer and form that coastal storm that we have been talking about and reason it is called a noreaster because the wind will be coming out of the northeast as this moves up the coast and you can see heavier rain along outer banks of North Carolina right now but eventually that makes its the way here. We have had some rain in advance already in parts of the new jersey but not very heavy at the moment. We are talking about wind, and as our big factor in our weather today so we will continue to watch, ultimate doppler radar, a slew of watches and warnings, advisor ies, Winter Weather advisory to the north of us in the poconos as temperatures dropped, after the noreaster leaves and then a wind advisory for all of us around metro area Coastal Flood Advisory until 9 00 p. M. Along the shore points. We have a high wind warning along coast and gayle warning for folks there, high wind warning is for gusts up to 60 miles an hour and for us, we will probably get one to 2 inches on have rain. 3 inches possible down the shore which means a lot of tidal flooding. Inland gusts up to 50 miles an hour. Coastal gusts up to 60 miles an hour. Localized Power Outages are possible, all that rain plus high wind, could knock some trees and power lines down today so you have to be careful anywhere you are traveling, but especially the impacts will be felt at the shore with the street flooding , with the two to 3 inches of rain which will add to the flood risk that is already high because of the high tide, street flooding and significant beach erosion unfortunately, because this is kind of the storm that we dream about. Only this inning that is a blessing is maybe not snow. These are kind of the snows that will give us hefty amounts of snowfall to say the least but temperatures are too warm for that right now. 44 degrees in philadelphia. Fortyfive out in lancaster. We have 34 degrees in mount pocono, that is area we have to watch for wintry precipitation. Upper 40s along the shore. Wind gusts in the the 20 to 35. It looks like this rain will last through at least early part of the day tomorrow and as chillier air moves into the northern areas, that is where we have to watch for wintry mix of precipitation but for us this is just a rain event. Just hang on until wednesday, bob kelly, because that is when we have sunshine, and a high of 53 degrees. Come on wednesday, cant wait for that one. 4 17. Good morning. It will be a rough go this morning for a couple of reasons. We have the rain. We have the win. Were dealing with some fog. We are dealing with the turnpike connection bridge that remains, closed and that is main bridge that connects the pennsylvania turnpike with the new jersey turnpike, and most traffic that uses this bridge, itself, it turns out to be the big rigs. Tractor trailers that will cross coming out of harrisburg and making that straight shot all the way over to new jersey so we have three different options and those three options will see extra volume, this morning, or indefinite liz until we get this fix the burlington bristol bridge, of course, connects bensalem, bucks county and with south jersey we have Scudders Falls bridge which is i95 bridge and then we have route one bridge that connects trenton and morrisville, new jersey. There is a few official detours out there big rigs we will see blinking signs, they want everyone to get off at philadelphia bensalem interchange and take route one , route one north will take you up and over into trenton, new jersey from there you can go all the way up to publishing up i95 and come back down or pick up 29 in trenton and work your way over to the turnpike. The this is also going to impact folks from new jersey they will have blinking signs pushing everybody off at exit number 7a heading into trenton or again taking that big loopy loop around and bringing it back in over i95. Bottom line there is no easy one answer, alternate, it depend upon where you begin your trip and where you are ending your trip but youll see extra volume . There is only a few options to get across the river again the Scudders Falls, Trenton Morrisville bridge or burlington bristol bridge some folks may go way out of their way and use that tacony palmyra and pick up new jersey turnpike. You have your plan ready to go before you step on out there. Heres your live look at an example of the roadways, this morning. 309 at Fort Washington has wipers on intermittently this morning, the wind is really going to catch you, open up that storm door of your house, your screen door it could go flying, car doors watching yourself parking and opening up that door. Wind will take it for a ride. Old glory getting a ride here this morning. You can see example of the win on the flag there as we look live at the burlington bristol bridge. So far that is the ben franklin bridge. So far, so good on mass transit. Karen and thomas, back over to you. We had a massive field of people. This is largest audios to ever witness an inauguration, period . Why the president asked the White House Press secretary to come out in front of the podium and utter a falsehood. Sean spicer our press secretary gave alternative facts. The point is not the cross site but at tax and attempt to delegalityized this president. Instead of talking about how many people showed up at his inauguration. It looks like a million, million and a half people. We ought to be talking about how many people will stay in the middle class and move in the middle class. I have a running war with the media, they are among the most dishonest human beings on earth. A lot of back and forth over weekend, tension is growing between Trump Administration and media follows this weekends massive woman rallies all across the country. Trump surrogates took to the sunday talk shows to debate numbers at those rallies as well as amount have of people who attended his inauguration in his First Official visit to cia headquarters President Trump spent part of his address claiming the media created false perceptions. So white house called a news briefing saturday night fuming over photos used to compare the crowd attending president obamas first inauguration with the crowd attending President Trumps swearing in on friday. Photographs of the inaugural proceedings were intentionally framed in a way in one particular tweet to minim
