So good morning to all of you, thank you so much for joining us on this wednesday, already, it is august 23rd. I cant believe it. The year has flown by. Great to have you with us as we mentioned, lets get a check with the forecast, because last night it was a wild one, Scott Williams. Absolutely thomas and karen. We saw cold front move through the area a lot of heavy tropical downpours, prompting with it some flashflood concerns, take a look at several of the damage report toward berks county, Lehigh Valley, some report of trees down, some flashflooding, also, in and around the philadelphia area, as you move into cherry hill, sections every New Castle County and delaware, but look at ultimate doppler. Much improved. The heaviest of the rainfall now out to sea, still few left over pocket of sprinkles, we will kind of zoom in, see the heavy rainfall, with the showers, thunderstorms, exiting the jersey shore. In it wake, though, still have those aerial Flood Warnings from philadelphia, along the i95 corridor, back into New Castle County, delaware, and that is because of some rising creeks and streams. So be mindful of that. Turn around, dont drown, if you encounter some flooded roadways. Take a look at several of the rainfall totals south and west of philadelphia, over three and a half inches every rainfall near chester, berks county, about 2 inches every rainfall, into sections of burlington, ocean county, almost 3 inches of rainfall. So, drying out right now, across much of the region, we still have high humidity, 87 , 76 degrees is the current temperature, in philadelphia, we have 74 in wilmington, allentown, right now, 73 degrees, and mid 70s for Atlantic City. So as we go hour by hour, mostly cloudy skies out there to start. Few left over sprinkles. But, sun, clouds, and look at that, by 4 00, 84 degrees, more seasonable. So on your radar, we will talk about that rainfall moving out, the drop in humidity, and guess what . There is a fall preview in that seven day forecast. How are the roads on this kind of damp and dreary start to the middle of the week, bob . Little bit of everything. Just that, damp and dreary on this wednesday hump day. 5 02, good morning, some Police Activity up here torresdale and harbison, up in northeast philadelphia. Not quite sure what is going on yet. But at harbison and torresdale, just watch for some police presence. I think they have the 7eleven there on the corn earn. Roads, everything wet, we got some debris possibly in the neighborhoods, from the thunder boom thats have rolled on through, on the overnight. Water main break along egypt road at trooper road with at least one lane getting through. That will will cause delays for the gang trying to get into 422 there, king of prussia. Here is a live look at the 42 freeway, coming in toward the city, and an accident on the admiral wilson boulevard. Now, this is eastbound, as soon as you come over the ben franklin bridge, it is right at Federal Street. Now, Federal Street is that sharp curve that goes underneath the railroad overpass. Two things happen when it rains t becomes slippery, and sometimes it floods out. So watch it. If you are headed eastbound into new jersey this morning. Going to slide on down to garnet valley, Baltimore Pike at cheney road. Watch for some downed wires. Again, result of the overnight storms. And then on the other side of 202 here, smith bridge road is blocked, right off of ridge road. There is a live look at 202 and route one. And then here is a live look at route 70. Over in medford, new jersey, you can see the roads are all wet. Again, theyve had some construction for most of the overnight. The norristown highspeed line running trains every 20 minute, local service only, for the morning rush hour. Karen, thomas, back over to you. Bob, thanks so much. We do have this breaking news, coming in, right now. There is a man in Critical Condition after being shot, many times in the chest, and the stomach, it happened right there, in south philadelphia. About five hours allege, at 16th and wharton, police are looking for two men, the victim taken over to the hospital. They think he was just sitting on his steps of the home when shot. Thats the latest on that situation. Well stay on top of it. Another developing story were following here at 5 05, federal investigators will be back at the scene this morning, septa train crash that left dozen every people injured. Lauren johnson at 69th street terminal. The questions remain, good morning to you, lawyer glenn thomas, you speak of the injuries. Thirtytwo injuries to be exact, and investigators did determine from those rail cars, when they pulled them off the tracks yesterday, that the bottom did buckle slightly, so they have some concerns over that. The two rail cars involved have since been removed from the tracks and taken to the shop for more investigation. But team is looking into the integrity of the cars to determine how some of those injuries did occur. Right now, it is too early to tell if speed was a factor, and investigator with the ntsb says that would be speculation at this point. But they do know when the incoming trains slammed into the parked unoccupied train it was fast enough to cause minimal damage, and minimal injuries. And now, theyll be looking into septas practice of leaving unoccupied trains parked on the active tracks. The norristown line does have signals, so an investigator is examining that system. Was it fully functional . Did it operate properly yesterday . And until the most leading up to the crash . Was the control center communicating with the field crews . So many questions. But not yet enough answers. Right now were collecting all of the evidence we can. Make sure we dont lose any perishable evidence right now. Speed would be speculating. I cant say that caused, was a factor, right now or not. But once we get back to our dc, dc headquarters, we do do a full system, system comparison, with other, to see if we can identify trends and like i said right now we i want to say speed was a factor i cant speculate that right now. Well the trains operator was treated and released from the hospital yesterday. Hell be back on scene today talking to investigators. Did he provide samples, for drug and alcohol testing, no results, just yet, we did learn that neither of the rail cars derailed from the impact of the crash. And investigators say, the damage was relatively minor. But they will keep looking into this crash, to find out exactly what happened and how, the result, thomas, karen, not expected to come for another nine to 12 month. Certainly going to be slow process, and we will check back with you in about 30 minutes. Also curious, lauren, if you can, around the 5 30 mark, how commuters feel this morning, if they have any concerns, as they get back on boards the septa train. We will check back in with you in just a moment, thanks. You can hear, well use pepper spray. Thats what the police were saying. Thats what happened last night. They did use tear gas to break up a crowd of people who were throwing some rocks and bottles, according to police, at officers. This protest happening outside the arena where President Trump was holding a Campaign Style rally. And inside, he had delivered a speech on immigration, and border security, two key items in his domestic agenda. He also used this event to talk about what happened in virginia. What happened in charlottesville strikes at the core of america. And tonight this entire arena stands united in forceful condemnation of the thugs who perm trait heyed at the and violence. Hatred and violence. So the president having this kind of rally to hit the reset button. Talk about the issues he want to talk becomes his Core Campaign themes, getting tough on immigration. And he also talk about the fate of that very controversial county sheriff out there, joe arpeo, the prestonly hinted he would pardon, after a federal judge had ordered him to stop racial profiling. And he didnt. He should have had a jury. But you know what . Ill make a prediction, i think hes going to be just fine, okay . But i wont do it tonight because i dont want to cause any controversy. Is that okay . So it sounds like a pardon may be in the works. Time now 5 09. The man accused of a haverford township murder sitting in a jail cell, 700 miles away, in atlanta, george a police say Derrick Rollins fired 17 shots at two men in philadelphias Overbrook Park neighborhood last month. He missed. Then police say rollins went to half forwards township where he shot 29 year old john lee fatally. Rollins had been on the run for more than three weeks. The Us Marshals Fugitive Task force captured him at an apartment outside atlanta. Now, the news comes as a big relief to those living near the shootings. This person shot at innocent people, then killed another innocent person, in the course after hour. So yes, there is a sense of relief now that hes gone. Im glad hes off the street, i can breathe easily, my kids can breathe listly and the neighborhood can breathe easily. He was with a woman when found, and she is being questioned. And now the folk it is get him back to pennsylvania to face charges. Sad news out of the garden state this morning, new jersey state senator James Wheelan has died. He represented the Atlantic City area, in new jersey senate, city he served for more than a decade as mayor. Wheelan had surgery last month to remove cancerous cells from his kidney, and had said he had complications from blood thinners. Governor Chris Christie remembered wheelan in a statement that reads in part the sudden and unexpected passing of senator jim wheelan is enormous lost to the people of Atlantic City. His district and all of the state of new jersey. During my nearly eight years in trenton, i came to know jim as a fourth right and honest leader whose worth was his bond. Assembly speaker vincent preate owe released senator wheelan tireless advocate for Atlantic City and Atlantic County but also a sad vaux kate for bettering all of new jersey, it is impossible to imagine the state house white jim wheelan and his thoughtful necessary. Keep people buying those ticket as soon as those machines open at 5 30 a. M. This morning. Jenny is in one of those locations. Good morning. Reporter good morning, karen, here at the 7eleven in bridesburg, usually busy spot for lottery tickets and whatnot. So at 5 30, thats whether we expect to see little more traffic out here. Last night we did see people out and about buying their 2dollar tickets all over the city hoping for a little bit of luck in tonights 700 milliondollar drawing. The second largest in powerball history. A ticket only 2. So why not play . Well, the odds, we have to bring this up, one in 292 million. So unfortunately, the odds might be against all of us. But, while we havent seen a winner since june, tonight could be the night, if it happens, the winner could opt for the 700 million over 30 years, or do alum p sum of 443 million. Then taxes have to be taken out of course, it is funny, i feel like lottery is either in your blood or it is not. I tip beingly dont play. Ill not a lucky person, but today since conveniently going live outside after 7eleven, ill of course buy a ticket, thomas it, sounds like you like to play. Do you like to play. Dow. You can see me i in the news room right sitting going over my numbers, wishing, dreaming. I know you do, as well. We will do a 5050 split, all right, jenny . Yes, that sounds good. I lots of big developments happening with the bill cosby case, back in corks his old lawyers are off. Hes got some new lawyers, that are on. There is a new team, his defense teams request watch they had to say about the next jury, thats coming up. And also, a lot of people are talking about this, so we got this treasury secretary, and his wife, she can now be the most hated person in all of washington. There she is. Beautiful, lovely woman, well, what she said that has a lot of people thinking it kind of came from the attitude of let them eat cake. Well explain. But first, lets get a check on the roads on this wednesday morning, bob kelly, good morning. Good morning, everybody. Live look at the freeway, as you are working your way in toward philadelphia. All of the roads are wet this morning. Come on, we got some Justin Timberlake as the traffic jams in this hour, cant stop the feeling, that it is wednesday, and were halfway to the weekend. As we look live, down the shore, come on, open up that peach i joint. Scotty as got your forecast with we come right back. Playing little taylor swift. Because what is she playing with right now . She deleted all of her social media accountsment then put out that weirds kinds of snake thing going on, so wait to go see if shes going to drop a new albumn any time soon. A check right now of our weather, at 5 16. Because we had some wild weather yesterday, scott, and so do we have any warnings that we need to know about at this point . We still have some aerial Flood Warnings around philadelphia. Back into New Castle County, delaware, for rising creeks and streams. But, karen, take a look at ultimate doppler, lit up overnight last night, most of the heavy rainfall, that has ended, out ahead of this cold front that will push through, decreasing the cloud cover, along with the lower, lowering humidity, as we zoom in, take a look at several of those storm reports. You can see some trees down, New Castle County, also, around philadelphia. Points south, and east, into south jersey, as well. With that heavy rain, that line of showers, and thunderstorms, that kind of move through the area. Just south of the city, you can see, gloucester sit, about two and a half inches every rain. Likewise, into west depford, as you move toward places like chester, almost three and a half to 4 inches of rain, in that short amount of time. So, some ponding, still on the roadways, i95, so just allow extra travel time out there early on this wednesday morning. North and west, we saw an average, one to two and a half inches every rainfall toward berks county, sections of the Lehigh Valley, as you move into upper bucks county, as well. Little over 2 inches every rain. Look at the temperatures right now. We have 73 degrees allentown, 73 in trenton, mid 70s right now in milville and Atlantic City, and the dew point, that measure moisture in the atmosphere, still relatively high with the dew point in the 70s. So, as we go hour by hour, throughout the day today, maybe a spotty left over shower down the shore, 72 in allentown as we continue throughout the day, more breaks in the clouds, as those temperatures, not that bad, looking at numbers, once again, upper 70s, to low and mid 80s, later on this afternoon. So, the bottom line, looking at clouds, giving way to sunshine, across the area, 84 degrees in center city. Low 80s down the shore, and 81 h valley. The Weather Authority seven day forecast showing 84 degrees today, low 80s continuing through thursday and friday. And what about that fall preview . Weve been advertising for the upcoming weekend. Upper 70s, and that trends continues into early next week. Hey, if youre headed out the door, catch my forecast on 101. 1 more p. M. M. Bob . Look at with you your fall preview. Need coupon for that by the way for the weekends there . Good morning, everybody, 5 19. We got that flooding at the brooklawn circle. Little bit after drill, here from jared our photographer there, look how close that guy is behind that track. Thats an example whatever were seeing this morning, and a lot of our areas, again, they are areas that tends to either flood because of the heavy rain, maybe a drain clogged, youre going to have that specially in south jersey, right now, as we got log flumes over there, in south jersey, to come back to the maps again, the brooklawn circle right there, route 45, and route 130, but at least traffic is getting by couple every accident in south jersey, two freeway, northbound four it, head in the toward philadelphia. Accident on the admiral wilson boulevard coming offer of the ben franklin bridge, Federal Street, sharp curve underneath the railroad overpass, that combination of the slippery curve, and the flooding that sometimes occurs there, is the reason for the accident. Right here, live look, this is harbison and torresdale, northeast philadelphia had some Police Activity behind the billboard there. Be careful. Water main break outside of trooper egypt off trooper road. Some downed wires along the bamm more pike, also, some high water along smith bridge road, just off of route 202. And septa running trains every 20 minute again this morning on the norristown highspeed line, all trains making all stops, and expect delays for the morning rush hour. Karen, thomas, back over to you. Bob, thank you. Another major happening after the tragedies weve been having with our navy. The navy now dismissing advice admiral joseph e.
