Speak of my mother shes very big when it comes to family time growing up. We always sat at dinner table and ask how was your day. Then on friday night we would have family night. Shes very big on din are time , act the table together. This is interesting. There is one mom out there who is explaining why she and her family they enjoy having dinner in front of the television. Yeah, watching tv instead of the sit at the table and everyone talk. In the past, the family previously ate together at Kitchen Table but kids would explain and they wouldnt eat or get up from the table and do different stuff. We started eating dinner by and talk about and laugh together. And she says that clean up. And the mom decides, it is not always allow the advice of experts and what works for you ; karen what do you do at your home. We dont have a tv in our kitchen. It helps. It helps if we all come in, and what did you have for lunch and spend that time together and catch up. Because it is so much to do with homework. If i get into shows, i cannot do that. I watch the tv. I do watch the news, and at five, six, 10 and 11. Right here on fox 29. Yes. And i do stay up, and i do like to eat early, get done homework and have that time. I think that is great. I do remember back in the 60s , 70s we had tv trays. Tray tables. Sit in front of the tv. I agree, sometimes programming can bring family together. Sometimes at dinner table everybody is on their mobile device. You put them away, stick to a program and sit down and talk bit. That is true. We definitely did the tray table thing. My mother, and i enjoyed it because we got to sit down and just talk and learn about how hey, about what they did at work and that kind of thing. If i was having trouble in school they would help me. During the week. That was a hard rule. There was no television watching. Maybe friday night, that was family game night, we would play a game or Something Like that. So watching tv, they would be like tv. We could not watch it on sunday. We could not listen to music on sunday. Because of church. It was just church, that was a day to relax, reflect and could not have music on and families, and everything else. It was just no, no on sunday. Did you spend more time together on sunday because of this. No. It was just back in the day , we would go to brunch, and then, you know, kind of whatever the day brought. I will say even though it may not be at dinner time afterwards we would watch movies. That is always something where you are laughing about stuff but it is awkward watching with your parents one of those kind of scenes coming up. So do i look a waste or do i cover my eyes, it was so awkward and like i dont know what to do, you know what i mean, get ready for that moment. I had worst one ever we were watching, i made nine and a half weeks and watching witt my dad. It was the most awkward thing i have ever experienced in my life. I didnt know what it was about. It was different for me. Growing up in germany. Would you see commercials, woman were topless. It is one of those things, it was just a different upbringing with my mom being german, european. We had a more open attitude about sex, sexuality and all that stuff. Did you have the talk early then. It was never a conversation it was just kind of free spirit. As i have gotten older my parents are like, my dad was like we saw sex and the city together the first movie, he loves sex and the city. So we all went to see it. My family together. They are much more open now that im older. When i was younger, no, not at all. No. The precious baby. Aside from the gender wage gap lets talk about moms. They are having to struggle with just being tire. They are calling this yawning gap. Mothers lose more sleep, then fathers. For every child a woman has the chance of regularly not getting enough sleep goes up by 50 percent. Meanwhile, the fellows, men their sleep patterns are un affect. No matter how many children they have they are still good. This is according to research from Georgia Southern university. Really. 100 percent agree. It is so hard. Especially woman that work upstairs. Just trying to keep up with everything that we do. When something has to give and we have the work and mom guilt and you are working not there and you still want to do project like bring this in, bring that in. What gives is your sleep. I dont sleep. I still to have do homework. Turf do other things. I feel like im always tired. Does that mean dads are doing less. It is more the moms are doing. You have to get formula together breastfeeding or getting up in the middle of the night, changing diaper, nurturing. It is more time consuming. Did you every feel that . Did you wake the husband up and say it is your turn. Not in the early years i didnt even wake up for that part. My husband loses lot of sleep over, i think, i dont know it is an interesting thing but i just think woman do more out of guilt. Is there still more things. He doesnt worry about who brought the snacks for kids school today, which had to go in and that stuff. We feel limited though, you know some things that we just cant do. Well. Sorry, guys, i didnt even convince myself of that. He is like let me throw that out there. Let me get the reaction, did it fly. Not so much. Your husband does not catch a break. Do you give him certain things to do. He does a lot. I will not rag on him. The point is we are just tired and especially in the early years you are exhausted all the time and coming out of the fog,. But sometimes, fathers and men dont get credit. When i was younger my mom would do something and then, dad will do it or braid your hair. I would be like can we do it, mom, yes. Also it has to do with the sex of the child, right. Boys tend to gravitate and wake them up in the middle of the night, and maybe girls go to their fathers and for comfort and guidance. Just not braiding hair. But my dad would help cooking, so they both would do things. I felt bad because sometimes i just want mom to do it. I am daddys girl too. Now that im older for sure. Having kids can make a mans career but total opposite effect for women. Researchers say being a mother makes a woman less valuable when it comes to being an employee to those who work with her. However study found when a man becomes a father, the responsibility works in his favor. You are a father, look at that women with children were 50 t a response from employers while men with children were slight liz more likely then any other applicant to get a call back for an interview. Thinks just unfair. This is truth because they, people think less of you, they are thinking you have to take time off for teacher conferences or go home early. For men they dont think bit. So many times we think about women candidate or for women they have kids, like what are they, who is taking care of them. People dont think about it with men. I think they do in a certain sense. Men hoff children are valued more in the office, that they can relate perhaps, if you dont have children. I think you are devalued as the family guy. You are not a family guy. You cannot relate. It think it does make a difference in some office places as well. I heard some bosses want to sees men have children because it shows you have a certain level of responsibility. You can take care of things. Shouldnt that be the same for woman. It should be even, all across the board but it effect was men more. I agree with that. It effects guys. You dont have the family. Is he responsible . Is he that. I felt that in my career. At a certain point, you know, he doesnt have this, that, you are tea valued a little bit. I found it true in my life. I truly feel that way. It just depends on the person and also the type of field you are in, employer. It certainly is interesting. This is also interesting. And kind of went deep in there. It is one of those things. It is a frustrating thing. Especially when you take time out for being pregnant and time off you get stuck where you are and you do not advance you miss those promotions and those opportunities but hopefully, whatever, im hoping things change. Now that we recognize it, realize it, it is first step. Hopefully that means so. People that are parents are better managers. You learn to have patients for people who are completely unreasonable like your toddlers or really hard to deal with and demanding. Thomas doesnt agree. You disagree. Im a manager, i am manage employees and i have been a better manager then those that do have children. I do have a production company. You have a side business. Okay. I have to have a backup to this. I cannot be tied down. But it is just one of those things, as far as being a manager you are born with a certain skill and you can be a people person, empathy, you can understand. Some people just dont. They can have a family. You just cant connect. Is there just different people i know what you mean. You go through the experience. You can tolerate certain things thaw tolerate with your children. I have heard it saying i feel like im dealing with my children. You learn how to do things to get what you want. How do you encourage with more carrots then sticks. You learn how to deal with people it depends on the person, you can have kids, no kids, it doesnt matter if you are not a good manager, nothing will happen. We have the best manager, dont we. Lets go back to knowing what women want because sometimes i know guys, they complain about it all the time you guys dont know what you want. This thing that thing. It is a mystery, right.
