Other was in a car. One person ended up dead. The other drove away. Police say just before 12 30 this afternoon a man walking in this new Residential Community in Montgomery County right here in this intersection of sweet spire drive and little seneca parkway was hit and killed by a car. They say the driver of the car took off. A short time later Police Received a call on amber ridge circle and the person at that residence stated the driver was there. Reporter then police were there questioning the driver investigating the car. When a hit and run happens, at least have the decency of a human to stop your car and check if the person is okay or not. Reporter Police Say Driver might have actually known the victim at the scene while Montgomery County polices accident reconstruction unit figured out what happened and how, their major crime detective looked into a possible motive. Because this is a really new neighborhood and its really messed up to see this kind of act going on. Reporter the family who lives within sight of this intersection just a few feet away obviously pretty torn up, do not want to talk to media. Meanwhile police are still investigating. In Montgomery County im mola lenghi for wusa9. Were tracking metro tonight. Riders facing massive delays for the next seuss months workers try to repair damage six months as workers try to repair the damage from a transformer monday. Delays will impact the blue, orange and silver lines and affect travel all times of day including rush hour. Lets get right to ellison barber for a look at what we can expect come monday morning. Ellison, how bad is it going to be . Reporter six months of delays on the orange, blue and silver line because of this substation right behind me. Its probably no surprise to you that it has a lot of riders frustrated. Its always something, you know with, metro. Reporter for the next six months trains on three lines will have new service times. Instead of coming every six minutes during rush hour theyll arrive every eight minutes. Thats actually time consuming because again i know i work in alexandria, virginia. Thats an hour away from where i got to go. Reporter its all because a transmitter just outside stadium armory went up in smoke four days ago. This was the substation that caught on fire on monday. It still smells bad here. You can smell almost like burnt rubber in the air. This station is completely gone. All three transmitters here will have to be replaced. Metro is being extra careful because they dont want this to happen to any other substations. The substation delivered 9 megawatts of power and delivered power to a wide radius around it. One at eastern market, one at potomac and one at deanwood are not nearly as big as the one at stadium armory. Now that that is gone these three have to provide power for a much larger area. A metro spokesperson told wusa9 they have to be careful not to overload those stations because if they went out, an entire route could shut down and they say that would be a mess. There needs to be some repairs and to keep it operating while they repair i guess they have to have some sort of delay dogs mitigate it. Reporter even if riders delays to mitigate it. Reporter even if riders understand, they still arent thrilled. Im paying my hard earned money trying to be to work on time. Its just really annoying and stressful. Reporter today was the first day where they actually had these delayed trains. A metro spokesperson told me they had a mechanical problem with one of the trains on one of these lines leading to other delays. So its kind of hard to tell how much of a backup this new delayed system will cause, but we should have a better idea come rush hour monday morning. In southeast im ellison barber, wusa9. South of la plata down toward fredericksburg over toward culpeper, nothing crazy heavy, a couple flecks of yellow but light activity.
