A judge did set a 25,000 personal bond for wilson today which means he could get out soon and only forfeit the money if he fails to turn up for his next hearing. Felony child abuse could send him to prison for 25 years. The other counts carry a maximum of 10 years each. Right now protesters in baltimore continue to demand answers following the unexplained death of a man in Police Custody and Police Commissioner Anthony Batts spoke out about the incident moments ago. The video footage of the tv camera that may have caught even a single moment of the incident is under review. This city has pretty close to 600 cameras within the city as a whole. Much of that footage will be released today. Commissioner batts also said that the medical examiner has given police a preliminary report, that they are still working on a cause of death. Batts also said that despite calls for his resignation he has no plans to leave the post. A massive rally is in the works for this weekend and Craig Boswell has the latest. Reporter it cannot be business as usual on saturday in baltimore, maryland. Activists want to shut down the city saturday with a massive rally to protest the death of freddie gray. Sunday the 25yearold died from a spinal injury one week after being taken into custody. Cell phone video of the arrest shows the suspect dragging his leg. Police say they dont know how he was fatally injured. Grays death has sparked a week of angry, mostly nonviolent protests, but now theres concern out of town demonstrators may have other plans on saturday. We specifically are not planning civil disobedience. We dont know about others who are doing it, but whatever theyre doing we know that their motive is a cause for justice. Reporter protesters are pressuring police to charge the six officers involved in the arrest and transmit of gray. Those officers are now success transport of gray. Those officers are now suspended and an investigation is underway. Police say a report will be issued next week. I still want to know why the policies and procedures for transport were not followed. I still want to know why none of the officers called for need medical assistance despite mr. Grays apparent pleas. Reporter grays wake is sunday. His funeral is monday. Testimonyinlaws has shown police have a name for it, the cowboy ride or rough ride, intentionally slamming on brakes or taking tight turns to rough up unsecured prisoners locked up in the back of police cage vans. Twice since 2005 Baltimore City police have paid out multimillion dollar settlements to victims who have ended up paralyzed after socalled rough rides despite a policy to seatbelt all detainees. The victim said the attacker pushed him getting off the train at the Eastern Market station. There was some yelling. The guy spits in the victims face, punches him three times and knocks him down. Police have given the all clear after responding to a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of the statue of liberty and liberty island. A call came in about 11 30 this morning. Someone said they were going to blow up the statue of liberty. Authorities decided to clear the area. We were just over there enjoying our day and then we were on the boat to get back over here. They tomorrow to us get off and we waited. So told to us get off and we waited. Im not sure what happened. Hopefully theres nothing arises thats something serious but a little concerned. K9 bomb units alerted an area near the visitors lockers at the base of the statue, but after a thorough sweep no explosives were found there. She was proud of her dad, a Fairfax County judge. There was that time she needed his advice at a protest. He said hes proud of us but save the arrests till after hes done running for circuit court. An Arlington County Housing Inspector is being charged with sexual battery. Hes charge wind appropriately touching a woman during a Home Inspection on 8th street south on april 14th and police think there may be other victims. Caught on camera one minute these students are singing and dancing and then this happens out of nowhere. The stage collapses right underneath them. This is the High School Play performance in westfield, indiana. And more than a dozen students were hurt when they fell several feet down into the orchestra pit. Stunned parents and students in the audience ran to the stage to help. I just stepped forward onto the steps right off the orchestra pit when i heard a crash. Well, ill just made the point last week that we continue to hear about cops gone wrong and cops gone bad, but it remains i believe that the majority of police in this country are trying to do a good job and i tried to write about how hard it is to be a good cop and do the job right. We all want to do right. We all say the cops ought to do the right thing, but sometimes this is very, very difficult. I think of . These things that weve some of these things that weve seen on television, theres absolutely no excuse for them and they must be dealt with and we make sure that through training and the people we hire for Police Departments that we weed out those kind of people, but having said that i still think there are a lot of good folks out there in Police Departments around the world. Im an old police reporter. Thats how i started as a young reporter as a union man and i saw a lot of good newspaper man and i saw a lot of good cops in those days and i just get the sense theyre still out there, but this thing in baltimore, there are a lot of questions. The mayor up there today in baltimore said i want some answers and i think thats what everybody wants to get there. Were going to talk to elijah cummings, the congressman from baltimore. Well get his thoughts on that and then to talk about this overall thing, this kind of racial divide that were seeing across the country, were going to talk to bill bratton, the new york city Police Commissioner. Theyve been trying to deal with this. Theyve had their problems.
