It happened at the brag motel on crain highway in Upper Marlboro where police found the body of 31 year old james birch. Birch lived in harwood and investigators say they do not believe this was a random killing. Fire invest it gators are trying to determine the cause of an explosion that rocked a Downtown Washington office building. It happened at 16th and k yesterday afternoon, two people were seriously hurt when a boiler exploded. Police had to shutdown part of k street during the investigation. This morning a Civil Rights Organization which is closely aligned with the National Football league is calling on the Washington Redskins to change the name. Thats right the alliance picked today, Martin Luther king jr. Day to voice their opposition to the name and they are asking Dan Schneider to change the Redskins Team name. Now, the reason this is significant, the Washington Post is reporting that the alliance has come forward and are asking for change because this group has long within affiliated with the nfl and theyve actually been instrumental in getting the league to hire more minorities and they really brought about real change and this isnt the first time the group has taken issue but the redskins earlier this month filed a complaint about how the redskins conducted their search for a genearl manager. Now the alliance is doing this in honor of Martin Luther king jr. Day and the name change debate has been a hot topic in washington and across the country as the president , u. S. Senators and other advocacy groups are all coming forward asking Dan Schneider to change their name. According to the post the group said in a letter that we have to take a stand. The name has to be changed. Meanwhile, redskins spokesman tony wiley said they are disappointed with the groups stance. The manhunt is over for two teenage sweet hearts, the pair is suspected of a string of crimes which began in kentucky and spread south. All the way to florida apparently. Reporter police in panama city beach, florida took 18 yearold dalton hays along with his 13yearold girlfriend Cheyenne Phillips into custody without incident shortly after midnight sunday. They found the kentucky teens sleeping in a pick up truck originally stolen in georgia. They werent sure if anyone was in it but they saw an unmarked car and looked to see if anyone got in or out of it and they saw the brake lights come on and thats when they called for multiple units. Authorities say the couple stole three vehicles during the crime spree that began earlier this month in western kentucky. They fled two days before hays was to appear in court on burglary and theft charges. While on the run, they were spotted in a South Carolina wal mart where police say they used stolen checks. There was concern the fugitives were armed because two handguns were left in one of the vehicles they were suspected of stealing. Hays mother says phillips told her son she was 19 and that he was in love with her by the time he found out she was 13. Authorities plan to extradite the couple back to kentucky to face burglary, theft and other charges. Cbs news.
