His name is ronald anderson. Hes 48 years old. Hes got a long record. He was already scheduled into court this morning on a charge of beating up his girl friend, the same girl friend he allegedly kidnapped at gun point setting off this whole thing. The family of murdered Security Guard Lawrence Buckner grieving tonight for a man coworkers remembered as a gentle giant. He was a good guy. I really wish this didnt happen. I dont know gods plan, but i really low they can move past this. Marcus barr says he was shocked to hear anderson was a man who allegedly kidnapped his girl friend, shot and killed buckner in suitland and then led scores of police on a chase ending on h street. He never displayed any of that. He was always nice and kind to us. Reporter but Court Records show anderson was convicted of manslaughter in 1991 and when he allegedly kidnapped his 20 yearold girl friend outside a battered womens shelter, he was already facing an assault charge that had left the woman shaking, crying and visibly afraid. Teaches teams teams locked down the Census Bureau and used explosives to breach the doors after the shooting, but anderson had already raced off in his honda shooting at officers repeatedly before they finally rammed his car outside an h street restaurant. Reporter the shelter is just out with a statement this afternoon saying that the victim was staying there in order to get away from anderson, but he somehow figured out where she was. Reporting live on h street northeast, bruce leshan, wusa9. Tonight the hunt is on for the gunman who shot and critically wounded an Anne Arundel County Police Officer. This all happened around 2 00 this morning when that officer was called to check on a man acting odd near the 7eleven around College Parkway in annapolis. That officer and armed suspect got into some sort of scuffle and the suspect shot him. This is the first time an Anne Arundel County Police Officer has been shot in the line of duty since july of 2008. The Orange County sheriff is on a bit of the defensive tonight issuing an official response to our investigation into his agency, specifically into missing dashcam audio and to why his deputy threw a driver who had been pulled over a highway. Heres our Investigative Reporter russ ptacek with the new side to this investigation. This is the Statement Issued today from that sheriff and for the first time a reason is offered as to why that deputy threw 53yearold Stuart Fitzgerald onto the road. We know officers fumbled with fitzgeralds hands because he didnt release his cell phone. Now for the first time the Orange County Sheriffs Office says he was resisting arrest by preventing officers from handcuffing him. In a statement the sheriff also states how the Agency Claims fitzgerald attacked the officer. He says the deputy took fitzgerald to the ground to complete the handcuffing and this is when fitzgerald bit the deputy. Fitzgerald later kicked the other officer. Today for the first time the Orange County Sheriffs Department also explained why, although the entire confrontation is silent, because of what Orange County calls a malfunction, the sound returns to the video 25 minutes later. The sheriff states today sound returned because of a separate manually operated mic saying the overmodulated audio came on when the deputy put him in the back of the car. If convicted of assaulting those officers and damaging the patrol car with his own head, fitzgerald could face more than 15 years in prison and today fitzgerald was in an Orange County courtroom pleading not guilty on all counts. Detectives within the Major Crimes Division Child Exploitation unit were contacted by the National Center for missing and exploited children and were provided a cyber tip. That tip was received through a blogging and social media networking site. The tip alleged that child pornography had been uploaded through its servers and it was determined that the location of that upload came from a residence in Fairfax County. Officials say the resident was the officers he residence was the officers home. We are not naming him because no charges have been file against him, but sources close to the investigation tell us charges are forthcoming. In less than an hour relatives and friend will hold a vigil for that maryland family who died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Rodney todd and his seven children died inside their Princess Anne home where the power was cut off and a generator was in use. The community has raised about 10,000 to help pay for funeral expenses. That funeral is scheduled for april 18th at university of maryland Eastern Shore campus where rodney todd worked. Then as it moves across into the rest of , it could become rather heavy rest of Southern Maryland, it could become fairly heavy, also.
