Police have been very tight lipped about this case. Residents around here have been on edge ever since the double homicide one week ago. Police have divulged few details until the apparent break in the case. Residents have had to live with yellow tape around this house for days now with not many details except that they know that it was a burglary. Wusa 9 has been able to confirm with authorities in juneau, alaska that 31yearold Scott Tomaszewski had been arrested on a warrant issued by Montgomery County police. He lived right next door to the vilardos in rockville. They have adjoining yards, they connect. Theyre very close right here. Detectives searched his home and seemed to be concentrating in the garage. Now, we should be hearing much more. 65yearold dick vilardo and 67 yearold jody vilardo were found stabbed to death on mothers day, as we know. Tomaszewski hasnt been charged yet. Hes been arrested on saturday as a fugitive from justice according to juneau, alaska police. We dont know yet about he might be extradited back here to maryland. We, again, are expected to hear much more from Montgomery County police, the county exec and the States Attorneys Office, but very, very tight lipped here as far as local police. The surviving victim is being treated at Washington Hospital centers burn unit. Several apartments were damaged by smoke and water. Now the red cross is helping residents find temporary ho using. Crews are still looking for the cause of the fire. A surf shop on the boardwalk in ocean city, new jersey went up in flames last night. The shop is on 7th street. There was an employee working at the time but they were able to get out safely. No one was injured. Breaking overnight, at least 22 tornados have been reported in just the last 24 hours. 8 in oklahoma, 6 in minnesota, 5 in texas and 1 each in kansas, missouri, nebraska and wyoming. Many living in tents now because theyre afraid to shelter in the ruins of their homes. International crews are working to clear a passage through the mountains. Nepal was struck by a magnitude 7. 8 quake on april 25th that killed more than 8200 people, then another magnitude 7. 3 quake killed another 1178. And the aftershocks continue to make the situation more difficult on the ground in nepal. Following a series of massive landslides, the canadian red cross had to be evacuated from their Field Hospital there. The aid workers were flown out of harms way there. A teenage suicide bomber blew herself up and killed seven other people on saturday outside a bus station in northeast nigeria. The reason that we have to keep the threat for showers and storms in the forecast for the next three days, thats including today, is because of this cold front thats approaching from the midwest. That will finally move through on tuesday. But in the meantime on 9 futurecast, heres the leading edge of showers, already raining by noon in leesburg. Scattered popup showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon into the evening hours.
