This morning authorities want to , know if ice was a factor for a deadly crash the incident involving a pedestrian. The incident happened along highway 14, near stonebrookm way in greenville. The coroner says 44 yearold Andrew Van Evera was jogging when he was hit by a car. Investigators are trying to determine if the car that hit him was due to weather conditions. Duke Energy Reporting 1232 Power Outages in Greenville County in duke energy says that Greenville County had some of thehit areas in the entire state. The company has doubled its manpower efforts, by pulling crews from different parts of the country. As crews work to restore the power, others are trying to keep the roads clear. Here is some sky4 video over Greenville County from yesterday. Before the thaw started, befe all of that ice on the roads turned to slush on many of the major roadways. As it stands now, dot says Greenville County interstates are clear, but be ready, because some areas saw some refreezing overnight. The sand and salt trucks were out yesterday pretreating the roads. At least five vehicles like this were abandoned along interstate in the asheville area. 26 just off interstate 40 in the Black Mountain area, drivers left their cars on a frontage road. A travel ban expected to be the storm still moving north and off the coast. Airlines have cancel some 70,000 flights this weekend. Marylands governor has shut down three major interstates from Washington County to the baltimore beltway. That is all largely because of a tractortrailer accident that occurred. Myra we begin this morning with a massive winter storm, pounding the east coast. At least 18 have died, as the storm continues to batter more than 85 million people. The blizzard has shut down road, rail and air travel. Snowplows have been out, clearing away the more than tw feet of snow that covered parts of southern maryland, and the carolinas high winds have caused massive Power Outages. And thousands of motorists h been stranded on highways in several states. Myra back here in the upstate now, authorities want to us know if ice is responsible for a crash that killed a jogger. These drivers opted to park on the frontage road, instead of getting up this hill. They discovered later on, it was not easy getting out of their parking spaces. The latest from washington. Sally washington is waking up to a bitter cold morning, but the good news, it stopped snowing just after midnight. Here is what we have left. Piles of snow. At least 17 inches in d. C. Up to 40 inches in the outlining there is a lot of work for crews clearing streets. The mayor is asking people to stay off the roads. At Reagan National airport, snow teams are working to clear the runways. They likely will not reopen today.
