Tree Clearing to Start for Route 434 Greenway Project Workers are about to begin removing trees as part of the $22 million greenway between downtown Binghamton and Vestal. Scott Cook, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Transportation, said the tree clearing needed along the path of the project is to get underway in the coming week. The removal of trees will be done over the next several weeks with construction of the greenway scheduled to begin in the spring. Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Cook said drivers can expect to see the start of preliminary work along Route 434.
