Turning a circle into a square is possible with this kirigami-inspired formula

Inspired by the Japanese paper-cutting art of kirigami, MIT researchers developed a computational strategy for creating a 3D shape by cutting and folding a 2D sheet. The method could be used to solve various engineering challenges, such as designing a robot that can transform from one shape to another to carry out different tasks.
